"the bunker"
thanks for posting,g.k....i don`t even think it was the right hand...it looked like a lazily thrown left hook(sort of)....didn`t look like the right even landed....

looks like some serious chin issues there...

Bodogs line on the fight :scared :scared :scared

Jorge Linares
-2500
Juan Carlos Salgado
+1250

I wasn't even aware Linares was chinny. I saw him fight once but it wasn't the Diaz fight. After the fact now but at those odds, certainly would have been worth a "tickle". I hope nobody here had a parlay busted with that one.

He was never "chinny" per say, but I do remember him making a few fights very tough on himself....the Diaz fight and the Larios fight....

I had him in a few "fun parlays" for the weekend, but nothing too drastic. 100 bucks down or something like that. I'm actually thrilled the line was so high - had it been anywhere around 1000 I probably would have bet more.

These LARGE favorites can be killers. I GOT DESTROYED when Alekseev lost to Ramirez and Bundrage somehow beat Baysangurov (both favorites were -1500).

Thankfully, my big money this week was on Nishioka and Cleverly - both came through like CHAMPS. Now it is all up to Gamboa and Juan Ma to bring it on home.

But, I swear, it might be worth it, the next time Golden Boy signs ANY PROSPECT, to immediately bet against him the first fight. THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO MATCHMAKE. THEY ARE SIMPLY THE WORST AT IT.

Was this a mandatory for Linares?

As for tonight, I still think Solis is going to KO Barrett. Solis is fat, but Barrett has a bad chin and NO LEGS. NO BET but I think fatboy gets it done.

I do have one parlay I LOVE.

PARLAY
Juan Ma ITD
Gamboa ITD
Fabiano (MMA)

This parlay avoids the OVER-UNDER prop risk (even though I believe both UNDERS will hit).
Pays a little less, but you get the whole fight for each guy. I LOVE THIS.

Good luck everybody !!!!!!!!! Already this weekend THREE UNDERS have hit (Cleverly, Nishioka, Linares). Let's hope for two more !!!!!!!!

No problem weasel
I agree with you....watching it again, it looks like that lazy left that did it....what a weird shot....Salgado looked surprised when Linares hit the canvas.....I wonder if Linares possibly had trouble making weight for this one?

Ghost Kid, the board's MVP, no doubt. Thanks for the consistent updates and thoughts.

Kentikian is fine.

The Linares shot was entirely to the temple, same as the one that took out Khan. I've taken light shots to the temple and been shaken up, I can't imagine the impact of a professional with proven punching power. It's VERY difficult to recover from those shots. You're extremely disoriented and lose your balance, so even if you don't feel the kind of pain that a punch to the chin or nose causes, the ref will have to stop it since your legs are gone.

I think anyone that takes a reasonable amount of risk is vulnerable to being caught early with a shot like that. If you look at it slow-motion, Linares' hand that was covering his face moved a split second before homeboy's left landed, creating a perfectly placed punch on the temple. I don't want to say it's a fluke, but it can happen to anyone. Notice the way Linares walked backwards slowly looking for the ropes after the first KD - that's exactly what Khan did.

I'm going to start betting more 1-3 props, early KDs happen more often than we might expect for that very reason.

I have Gamboa and Lopez 1-3 along with under in both fights, much bigger in the Lopez bout. If Mtwaga comes in wild, Lopez only needs 1 counter right hook to end it. While Gamboa ahs the capacity to end it within a minute, his unpredictability in boxing/brawling is troubling.

"the bunker"
maybe linares was caught cold....but that shot didn`t look like much....it looked like the lazy left was meant to set up the straight right(which wasn`t straight and didn`t appear to land)....

and someone mentioned previously that gameliel diaz buzzed him early in their fight(and diaz ain`t david tua).....

i think linares may have a problem there...

we`ll see down the road...

My plays

Menzer-600: The venue is key here. This chick fought Menzer very very tough the last time and the cards should have been closer but the fight was and is in Germany. it took several rds for menzer to figure out her smaller opponent. Unless Mezer collapses, she wins.

Honsono -115: Strictly boxrec but honsono appears on the rise while enoki might be on a slow slide. Honsono 15-0 w/12 itd and Enoki is 2-2-1 in his last 5. One common opponent had Honsono winning wide while Enoki appeared to struggle a little.

Gamboa/garcia under -260: Gamboa SHOULD get it done here early.

a few parlays which include solis, gamboa, menzer, lopez, kentickian

Good luck everybody!

Outside of Germany, that play doesn't get made. Perhaps Menzer got a hometown gift but it figured in when the bet was placed. I got fcked when the judges gave it to Sturm a few mnths ago and now they kindly gave it back. :00hour

Amazing that all that dude had to do was throw on some purple hair and wear that top to pass for a gal. Even more strange that he fought Serena Williams (see in background having gloves removed) Didn't know she(also subjective) use to box.

Excellent Point Ghost

Also, I don't think he was a mandatory. The WBA only had him ranked 6th as of 7/09.
