Haye landed a lot of clean shots on Barret and Barret was OK then Haye had to use rabbit punches. It is difficult to even imagine how guy who had such a problems with hurting Barret can hurt Valuev. And this is the same Barret who was hurt on many ocasions. Valuev never was hurt even when he took it from big heavyweights.
By the way, with Valuev hight, Haye punches will have even less power and it is difficult to land rabbit punch so I think Haye is out of luck.
There is no way Haye can win this fight. I watch all fights that I can with Valuev through the years and Haye fights since he beat King Arthur. And I am convinced that Haye will lose. Mark my words. I don't say that often.

Actually, Monte Barrett wobbled him with a wide overhand right in the 1st round of their bout.
I am not betting this week but if I was to bet this fight, I would take the Giant.

I remember the Monte fight and I honestly think if Haye is going to beat the giant, it will be in the first 4 rounds. Barrett was landing at will but just couldn't budge the big man. I think either Haye WILL budge him and quickly or the giant can take Haye's punches and stops him late as Haye runs out of gas.

Good luck Boy's!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

I trust your opinion Andrey
you have a good track record
I myself have gone back and forth on this fight
Haye thinks he is picking the easiest of the champs
He and Golden Boy want to grab a belt
but we shall see how he fairs....I am pretty sure Golden Boy is cursed (and abysmal at match-making)....let's see if they got this one correct....or if Haye is going to be hanging out with Victor Ortiz and Jorge Linares on the rebuilding farm....

your opinion is respected, so I'm glad I grabbed what I think is the last of the +180 or higher on Valuev but you could say that Haye offers a lot more these days than Holyfield, well at least offensively, definitely not chinwise... but then I think of Graham's thoughts and comments that Valuev wasn't too thrilled with the idea of fighting a 46 year old and maybe did just enough to sneak by... location should favor Valuev, right gang?

Thanks Punchmaster. I agree with Graham view on Holyfield fight, I think there will be different Valuev for this fight.

I too am gonna have to go with Valuev. The odds help, but at least you know what you're gonna get from the big Yeti, whereas Haye is still an unproven commodity at heavy. He is also chinny, and Valuev should be the hardest puncher he has faced. I can really see Valuev controlling Haye with the jab, and wearing him down over the long haul. Valuev will not put in another performance like the Holyfield fight...I think the 'lack of motivation' excuse is valid. Bigfoot - mid to late round KO.

A U.K. fight trade poll in the latest Boxing Monthly is interesting. Some of the more informed opinions.

Barry McGuigan: "I expect Valuev to keep his hands high, maintain the centre of the ring and eventually overpower Haye."

Brendan Ingle: "David Haye will stand Valuev on his head just as Max Baer stood the Ambling Alp [Primo Carnera] on his head back in the 1930s."

Richie Woodhall: "David knocks him out. I'm very positive about this."

Steve Collins: "I think Valuev's too big for Haye, and when he hits him, David will go."

The poll favoured Haye 15-10, but being a British poll there might have been some patriot picks in there.

Respect Graham a great deal but I have to veer off of the Valuev going easy on the Deal scenario. Valuev fought a prepared as possible Holy and it was nip and tuck. Valuev has struggled with similarly competent people like Ruiz twice, Chagaev, Donald and even Bergeron won some rounds and then was ambushed by D. Guinn. Valuev did look good against Liakhovich but he was 15 pounds out of shape and offered nothing. And many believe a case could made for Valuev losing to Ruiz and Donald. Even McCline began having good moments before his knee collapsed under him. Valuev makes too good a living to chance eking out a win - Holy gave him a good go.

Haye does bring a suspect chin and stamina into the fight but he is now fighting at a comfortable weight and sometimes when fast guys move up, they can be very successful. We all have seen that. Haye is faster and more explosive then anyone on this list. Barrett was banging Valuev around with regularity in the first half of their fight until he wore down. If Monte can find Valuev, isn't it reasonable that Haye's missiles will bounce off that size 12 head. (That wasn't bashing, was it?:00x14 ) The big question is can Valuev take the shots? If he can't, he will be bounced on his head. If he can, then we'll have a race to the finish line. Haye must keep his fast hands moving and not be so willing to let himself be held.
