Jean Pascal today :''Hopkins way better than I imagined and for first time in his career he was involved in a spectacular fight!''

 :nono:

Spectacular......what fight? He must be talking about Khan-Maidana from the previous week

Nothing spectacular about your performance JP

Potential for Hop/Cloud. Cloud says he would take the fight. I've written off Hop more times than I can remember and was hoping Pasc would have put the finishing touches on him but the dude is like the terminator. I don't even know who I'd pick at this pt but it sure makes for an intriguing matchup.

Who exactly are you referring too Sponge . I had Hop 114-113. Keep in mind he was down 30-25 after 3 rds. That means he had to win 7 of 9 to secure a draw and win 8 of 9 to get the W. Rds 5, 10, and 12 were very close and Pasc could have legitmately stole them. I gave 5 and 12 to Hop and scored 10 even as did 1 judge. The draw is no robbery by any stretch. An argument can be made that Pasc won it by a pt... I don't think he did but there were a few tough rds to score. IMO, both kds were legit and correct calls. The 1st one hit Hop on the side of the head, not the back as he tried to complain. As far as I'm concerned there is little to no controversy regarding the cards.

Graham, we are all awaiting your assessment on the fight :0corn

Wasn't singling u out Romi, just readint thru the thread i see how much guys hate Hopkins and he deserves the hate with some of the stuff he does. I need to watcch the fight again to access things better but i thought the first round knockdown was very cheap and why in the world was Hopkins knockdown ruled a trip? If i remember correctly Hopkins hit him which caused him to stumble. Not hard but the guy was off balance to begin with. On the first knockdown Hopkins momentum was almost taking him out of the ring and the same thing occurred here as a punch very close to the back of his head pushed him further down. Like i said i have to see it again. I think those very late rounds Pascal won were like gift rounds people were giving him just if he did anything becuase he was being totally dominated. I really need to see that knockdown Hopkins had again. How nobody is talking about this means i am dead wrong or no one wants to see this guy win because he is such a prick sometimes.
By the way i never received ur email for the feed unless i missed it

"the bunker"
"Still, while one may not find Hopkins?s comportment consistently pleasing, it must be acknowledged that he would have been a fighter of excellence in any era. I think that even the most revered middleweights and light-heavyweights in the ring?s long history would have had their hands full with Hopkins, and I can?t think of higher praise than that."....

the man`s a beast...and i`m not talking about hopkins...i`m talking about graham.....

it`s a privelege to have him peruse this forum....

No offence Sponge. I didnt email any links. I watched it live on showtime. There obviously is no love loss for Hop but I think just about everyone here appreciates what he has accomplished...ALL TIME GREAT FIGHTER hands down and STILL doing his thing. That aside, I didn't see anybody here giving Pascal any undue pts Sat night. He won rd 8 and on my card he had an even rd in rd 10. I think Ghost gave him rd 12. It was a very close rd and i watched it twice. Hop started very strong but Pasc landed some nice counters and even a very hard shot near the end. Tarver gave the rd to Pascal and it was close enough to argue the pt. It wasn't a clear Hop rd. I gave it to Hop but it was CLOSE. IMO the 2 kds for Pasc were legit. The first one did not hit Hop behind the head. It landed on the ear. When Pasc went down, Hop landed a punch but according to Bernstein, their feet were tangled. It wasn't clear on the video feed but I'll take his word for it. The decision was not a robbery. Had Hop won by 1 pt, I wouldn't argue, but being down 5 pts after 3 rds, it's very difficult seeing Hop take it by more than 1 or 2pts at the most. With the exception of the 2 kds and the 1st 3 rds, Hop essentially schooled him.

Biggest question for me was: Why did Pascal folded after 3 rounds?

He had at that point 3 rnds in the bank with 5 points difference, he had Hop 2 times down - he was doing better than he could realistically hoped for. Or was he?

He is a guy who withstood Froch assaults in front of hostile crowd while being weight drained. He is a guy who beat Diacanou while dislocating his shoulder twice during the fight. He is a guy who beat king of the division in Dawson while getting tagged with as strong body punches as Hop tagged him.

I know Hop is really good, HOFer and so on but the guy is 46 years old. Not 39 not 42 but 46 for Christ sake. He showed his ahe many years ago against Taylor. And I know he is an ex con and really scary guy. I would run of that ring for sure. But Pascal is experienced yet young world champion. How can he got scared? Too scared to throw punches?

I just got that one wrong and it of course happens but this one I don't get it where I went wrong.

BTW I don't like conspiracy theories and I don't wanna talk about this a lot but if someone surprised Hop with Olympic style testing during training I'm sure results would be interesting. He was faster with 46 than ever before. He was as fast as Pascal and that probably "won" him a fight.
