You can't say I wasn't warned

You can't say I wasn't warned

Hasegawa vs. Perez Under 7.5 -130 - Medium- WIN

Ceasar Canchilla -240- Medium - Loss

Vanes vs Willie Lee Under 5.5 -200 - Small - WIN

Well I had a positive week because I put all my winnings from the two unders on the Pavlik Under 7.5 -170. I know it was stupid, but I finally asked myself, would you bet it if Pavlik didn't have the injuries and infections. I said yes. Pavlik said it was healed and so I took the big risk. The play was so last minute and not well calcuated that I didn't post it. Then Canchilla really screwed it up. I should of hedged that bet with Graham's advice. I guess you never know how good a fighter is until he loses or wins a fight against top level competition. I'll take 3-1 any week.

Let's get 'em again next week guys!

just saw a clip of the Cruz fight
here is what happened
3rd round a headbutt occurred
Cruz dove in and they clashed
fight was stopped
Cruz keeps the title
they announced his name and a bunch of fireworks went off
so he didn't lose
i couldn't understand the spanish - its either a NC or a Cruz win
since it was before round 4, I imagine this is a NO DECISION

Thanks Ghost!
My original parlay with Cruz was on 10/24, so if it was a NC unless they have a rematch by 12/24 or less it will be over 60 days and I will finally get paid. :) I hope Cruz won though because Romi and I deserve a little interest.

The fight is indeed a ND. After several months of delays and postponemnts, we get an ND :142smilie . It was a Good week and like you I'm VERY thankful there was no under wager on Soto/Chavez :00hour . I bet it straight up and in a parlay so at least made a few bucks on it. Pav is my new hero...for this week anyway. He bailed me out of the Barerra/Rev/ over loss. After this week, just a few hund off my high pt on the yr so I'm stoked.

Is that it for the yr? I don't know if I can go 2-3 weeks without a boxing wager. Give us something Odds Gods! Toss a couple of midgits in the ring and post a line for Christ's sake:mj07:

Well, a poor week to close out a crazy year for me...All in all ended just a little down though.
Broke alot of my own, and common sense rules this week that divide the line between a good and bad capper. I'll turn this negative into a positive and keep these things in mind going into the new year.

1. It's okay to skip a week. I had no strong feelings whatsoever this week, but still made significant plays, and lost... A good middle ground in these cases, for me, would be to tone it WAY down. Just make tiny wagers for fun sake...the big opportunities will come.

2. Don't wager on/against fighters I know nothing about. The only amendment to this, I suppose, is going small on a long odds dog if you spy some possibilitiy...but nothing siginificant. For me to make my main play of the week against an unknown Philipino prospect was just ridiculous. Nice eye Graham - I thought precisely the same thing, but wagered anyway.

3. I also chased this week, with the Pavlik under, and was fortunate to win...also not a good habit. I'm also gonna start listening to this forum a little more. There is some great knowledge here.

Good season to all madmen!! :mj06: Happy to have joined the forum and am looking forward to a better year in 2010. :SIB

Canned "Lacandon" Cruz IBF featherweight title with tie

Env?aTuxtla Gutierrez, Chis., 19 Dec (Notimex) .- El Cristobal Chiapas' Lacandon "Cruz tonight retained his world crown with the IBF featherweight in the third round tie with the Sonoran Ricardo Castillo at the Palenque de la Feria in this city.
In the stellar bout of the "Gathering of Champions" presented by companies Gala Boxing and Banner Promotions, there was an accident results in which "Lacandon" Cross retained the feather sash International Boxing Federation (IBF).

The "Piolo" Castillo in an accidental clash of heads enlarged the court that Cruz suffered in the first round by the same cause and determined the physician's order not to continue, at minute 15 seconds of the third inning.

With this result, Christopher Cross, 32, completed his third defense and kept record of 39-11 with 23 knockouts and two draws and Ricardo Castillo, 30, finished 38-7, with 25 before the limit and a tie.

This article makes it sound like a techinical draw which does not make sense because 4 rounds had not been completed. Anyways, it will probably be a No Contest when all is said and done. The only difference being if techincal draw Under wins if no contest then all bets returned.

The fabulous thing about all this is that we never stop learning. I NEVER want to reach the stage where I think I know it all.

I just checked out boxrec, there is nothing really worth mentionning for the next two weeks.

maybe its good to have a few "off weeks" , I guess if we miss betting soo much in these tow weeks, we have a little problem ;-)

Crazy year!

I dont know what exactly made this year so strange, maybe I'll start a thread about it.

Shame on you. You are guilty of sacrilige. You missed none other than Mouhamed Ali, fighting this Wed, albeit the Italian version of Ali and he'll be fighting the always dangerous TBA.

On a serious note, I think the next bettable fight to be posted will be Karmazin v the other Miranda and then we have Stieglitz v Edison Miranda...both in Jan.

I noticed Shannon Briggs fighting on the espn Karm card v TBA. Perhaps I'm just cynical but this guy REALLY annoys me. He ktfo every bum they put in his path and then calls out the Klits. The self proclaimed "Greatest heavywt Champion...with atzma" in his prime, got owned by 90 yr old George Foreman, who practically entered the ring with a respirator.

Canned "Lacandon" Cruz IBF featherweight title with tie

I posted this on another forum, but here it is, superfluous detail edited out:

Under Mexican commission rules it would be a technical draw, as the head clash occurred before four rounds had been completed. However, this was an IBF title bout and thus the so-called unified rules should apply, meaning a no decision verdict. I can only assume that the ring announcer made a mistake in announcing the verdict. It can be pretty chaotic at ringside in Mexico (I know, I've been there, done that).

These things are the very devil for the sportsbooks to sort out. There was an under/over wagering line of 9.5 rounds on the fight. Players who wagered on the "under" will be eagerly anticipating a fortuitous payout; anyone who bet the "over" will be bemoaning their bad luck that this wasn't correctly announced as a no decision (all bets voided).

As we all know most sportsbooks have a rule that they pay out on the verdict given in the arena on the night, but they usually make an exception if a mistake is discovered that same evening. There was similar confusion in Germany a few weeks ago when Francois Botha was announced as the winner over Pedro Carrion in a fight that had been scored a draw: the MC simply made a mistake in making his announcement. Only in boxing, right?

Well my Cruz-Castillo under bet is still pending. Which is shitty cause it would turn this losing week into the winning one.

Since this seems to be the last boxing weekend of 2009 I would like to wish all the MadJackers happy holidays. My first boxing/betting year was a great success where I managed to double my modest starting bankroll. I've been boxing fan for 20 years and to merge my favorite sport with my gamble loving personality was a great fun.

Thank you guys, without you I doubt I would take on this so seriously and I definitely wouldn't be successful. :mj06:
And this is my last separate thank you to Graham since he is full time MadJack guy now :toast:

Way to go old dirty !!!!!!!
Congrats on the winning year !

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the whole crew.
I feel a big 2010 coming for all of us.

Here is a very funny article posted today on badlefthook:
The Top 15 worst TV fights of 2009
http://www.badlefthook.com/2009/12/21/1210531/bad-left-hooks-15-worst-tv-fights#storyjump

I don't necessarily agree with Valuev-Haye being that bad, but I am really glad to see BJ Flores on the list (the biggest fraud in boxing). The top 2 are spot on - Kevin Johnson's performance was EMBARRASSING, and Small-McDonagh was UNWATCHABLE !!!!!! Good number 1 choice !

So Cal
I want to thank you all here for helping me win some wagers and learn a little more about wagering on boxing. Hopefully I can contribute a little more in the upcoming year.

I don't know if anybody played over/under on Cruz - Castillo but I just got payed today on my under bet.
Finally, turn of events that suits me :00hour

Since it was ruled a draw and not a no contest you should have been paid. Glad they handled it right.
