Is Miranda on Valium?

"I may not win but I guarantee I'll be very happy"

What have they done to the Beast???

I was just thinking the same thing when I read that quote?

Maybe getting pummeled a few times has humbled him up a little? A lot of it was press release stuff, but he talked alot of trash.

Maybe a little humility will make him a better fighter? We'll see...

1st casualty of the week is Donaire/Guererro. Guererro failed an eye exam and was reported he has a detached retina. I was looking for the under on that one

Donaire is going to fight Manuel Vargas instead.

The Donaire UNDER was probably going to be my play of the week!

Glad to hear he still has an opponent. Manuel Vargas the strawweight? :scared Dude is a solid fighter, but he weighed 102lbs for a fight not so long ago.

Kevin Mitchel under 9.5 is possibly very good bet.

Hey Romi.

Thanks a shitload for that early heads up on the Donaire-Guerrero cancellation. Odds are showing on the books now, and without that heads-up I'm wagering like crazy on it...parlays, etc. And my week would have been all effed up.

I second this.
I really appreciate the heads up, as I was ready to parlay Nonito with a few fights. And I HATE when those things get held up. Thanks bro !

A couple hours after the press conference, a fill-in was secured in former title challenger Manuel ?Chango? Vargas (26-4-1, 11 KOs), of Jalisco, Mexico.

Vargas will not only be giving up time to prepare against Donaire, but plenty of weight, having campaigned as a minimumweight last year. Weighing 105 in his last bout ? a split decision loss to Donnie Nietes for the WBO minimumweight title ? Vargas will be jumping up three divisions and ten pounds to take on Donaire.

:scared :scared :scared :scared

three weight divisions higher?!?!?
This doesn't sound very safe or competitive

My plays so far this week...

My plays so far this week...

2 Parlay Provodnikov -275 + Concepcion -185 (=+110) -Large
Jauregui is not a hard puncher now and at the very least he will get out worked and out hustled. Concepion will be looking to make a statement coming of a DQ loss to Luevano. In this fight, Bernabe looked great but got greedy and punched after the bell. Santiago throws mainly his left jab and drops his hand, so he is open for the left hook and Bernabe throws a good one. I see Bernabe breaking Santiago, down with the hard rights to the body and left hooks to the chin for a TKO in 8.

Mitchell Vs Mendoza Under 9.5 -115 - Medium
Mitchell is a very ambitious guy who wants his fame and fortune ASAP. He is a finisher and has shown good power with his left hooks upstairs and his great bodywork. Also, he demostartes good footwork to step into his shots. His next opponent, Mendoza, doe not have a chin like Prescott's and does not have the height and reach advantage. Also, Mendoza, is inexperienced and has consistently failed when he fights above the D & C level boxers. Too much Mitchell here and I see this one ending 5-7 rounds.

Concepcion Vs Santiago Under 9.5 -125 - Medium

Good Luck Guys!

Pinning my weekend on this man:

clev_682x400_984026a.jpg

CLEVERLY
UNDER 9.5
LARGE

NATHAN CLEVERLY is going to destroy the Italian. Not a hard puncher early in his career, but the kid has progressed tremendously and I was extremely impressed with his outings against Mcintosh and Fry.

Cleverly has always had talent, but now he is sitting down on his shots a lot more and overwhelming opponents. He may be finding his "man" strength now at just 22 years old.

He may not get it done as fast as Braehmer (1 round KO), but I am VERY CONFIDENT the 34 year old Brancalion will not see half of the 10th round.

If this hits, I will dance with the Latin-Pinoy card. But this is the bet that really stands out for me.

Ji Hoon Kim vs. Tyrone Harris
Very interesting fight
NO PLAY for me, but I am looking forward to the fight

Kim is an exciting fighter and a late bloomer
8-5 to start his career
11 and 0 since, with 9 straight knockouts
and only 23 years old

Harris surprised me against Quintero (I know Tyrone made weepaul some nice underdog money that night)

tough all here

Weekend plays so far

Weekend plays so far

Parlay - Cleverly, Mitchell - big
Still have to lay considerable wood here, and odds have risen even more now, but barring something bizarre, I just don't see how it will go wrong. Also paralyed it down with Provodnikov in part... I think Cleverly and Mitchell are excellent UK prospects - 2 of the best. I have been very impressed with both, and do not expect either to falter here. Mendoza seems decent, but not at all on Mitchell's level... The Italian seems a perfect opponent for Cleverly at this stage.

Mitchell-Mendoza UNDER 9.5 - big (+170) Got some good early odds on this one. Mitchell can punch. He played it safe in completely outboxing big-hitting B.Prescott. I think he will be more inclined to go after Mendoza here...to make a statement that he is ready for a world title go. And I think he is. Mendoza has shown vulnerability, and his fights don't tend to go that deep one way or the other. I think Mendoza will cave somewhere around 5-6.

Daws-Cook UNDER 9.5 (+130) - small
Just a pittance here and playing a feeling. Daws in good form and Cook has shown some vulnerability. 3rd rd KO to feather-fisted Aldo Rios stands out. I think Daws will make him buckle before the 10th.

I'll see how these play out before making any big decisions on the Pinoy/Mexicano card Saturday night.

Good luck!!! :box2:

I played Cleverly at -500 (very lucky to get those odds, as some bookies copied the odds from the fight in Italy) and also have some money on Cleverly by ko!

Other than that, I'm really not sure what to do.

If Santiago elects to trade with Concepcion, its Lights out I guess, but Concepcion just woulndt throw any punches against Lueva...makes you wonder a bit...he really has the body of sprinter, maybe he just cant be that active....

I'm leaning towards Concepcion (by ko), but I'm not sure if I'll pull the trigger.

Provodnikov and Mitchell should win as well...hmm...
