"the bunker"
This is THE nagging thing for me in siding with Donaire.

already grabbed the +180...and i`m kicking myself because i have a feeling that this thing goes much higher...

both guys very talented...donaire with the length and the quicks...great technician...youth...

montiel no technical slouch...with that sudden, sneaky power and experience...and that resume...

whoa...love both guys..road warriors....love guys like this that aren`t worried about a record...or being protected....

this is why people love boxing....i`m goosed...

Interesting...

Any book that offred a total O/U on that nonsense AAbraham fight this past week should pay out every winner on the UNDER and the RD 2 KOa nd not act like they are doing anyone a favor by doing it... OUT THE BOOKS IF THEY STIFF!

If they didnt learn from Briggs-Green and the past, they got no bizness even booking if they dont wanna pay winners.

7.5 was a donkey line. 4.5 F mighta been just as bad....as AA coulda ended it no matter when he wanted even if dog didnt quit...bout was a joke...

If you got screwed on the O/U by the copy paste sportsbooks that throw that up there to justify their own existence after jumping all over everyone elses intellectual property via copy/paste post the books names so others dont get screwed..even if the book gave u a deal...and gave it..everyone on under shoulda got PAID.

I didnt/wouldt offer a total on that bout.

On the Ioka bout a few ppl are chattering about ....in hindsight...

I would have opened Ioka the favorite last week...I actually posted the chat I had with people here...the night of....HOPING someone would put up the bout...so the players woulda paid for it if they bet the Jap... but was hoping ANY BOOK would grow nuts to put up a number on it so I could ram him up their asses IF they took a bet over $50 or didnt watch any of his footage and went off paper records...and boxing forum donkey posts.

I will open later and later, week after week till the touts and the stiff copy/paste bullshit books lose more and more bizness by just being deceptive and greedy.

How can books suspend the payouts on Abraham O/U. Unacceptable.. anyone that bet under and got stiffed taking that on chin is a fukin moron...esp if they keep playing there and/or endorsing the toilets ..and for not outing the books. Not outing stiff books is a bitch and coward move...

anyways good luck this week....winning and getting paid pending where you play...

Hello Joey,

Message received and understood (I think).

OK, people in the British bookmaking industry are telling me to be patient, that a regulatory agency is involved, the ESSA (European Sports Security Association). It seems the ESSA is instructing sportsbooks not to settle Abraham-Bozic wagers "pending investigation". An inside source tells me not to worry, people WILL get paid. The only way that people won't get paid, I am told, is if the ESSA can find proof that Bozic threw the fight. As I was told: "Who can prove anything?" The "investigation" seems to be window dressing. I'm told people will get paid, so under the circumstances I am just waiting to see how this plays out. I don't believe in going in half-cocked, Joey, I've learned that lesson in a very hard way in my life. This is frustrating for players but I am willing to give the Euro books the benefit of the doubt, for now.

Re. Ioka, members of this board will know that BEFORE the fight I was big on Ioka. (I even posted on-site the day before the fight that I liked Ioka and, in my words, I wrote that if Ioka lost I would be saying a silent thank you to the oddsmakers for not posting a line.) That said, I NEVER thought Ioka would knock out Oleydong in five rounds! I thought more of a close decision type of thing, 115-113, 116-112, 115-113 again type of fight.

Re. later and later lines, that's OK, we kind of expect it now, and I think we take a resigned sort of attitude towards it, not even a big issue any more, but, a word to the wise, "touts" (smiles) can get it wrong. Posting lines earlier doesn't automatically mean that "touts" are going to make money off your back; the reverse can apply.

Where I do agree with you, and I have, believe it or not defended your position on this (OK, I know, I know, you don't need me to defend you) is that, yes, some books could have dared to take a plunge by offering odds on the Ioka fight rather than waiting for you to post a line. I don't believe in slamming books for not offering lines on certain fights because it is a business and it is their money on the table if a line isn't "right", but, yes, it must be frustrating and annoying to you when non-Joey clients just lay back and wait for you to "go first". I think any reasonable person would agree with you on this particular matter.

Thx GH.

Just look at it this way. I know you can definitely relate and will if u start experiencing stuff like scenario below..

If someone took the great service you've worked to build the last few years.....reworded your words....offered analysis and selections as their own, as their bizness and/or to get new biz....and in process made money off your incredibly difficult work, studying, writing etc...unless ur happy with partners...how can you not be disgusted.

Anyone that cannot undertand that thought process never starved, worked on anything worth keeping, got it to work, and/or never had anything worth anything taken from them.

Almost like Dana White dealing with other orgs..stealing advertising techiniques from the...ala Bellator/Strikeforce....buts thats diff issue in itself..tahsta ctually in the courtrooms..

Ioka was a coulda woulda shoulda... not about the good deals you make..the bad ones you dont make... Ioka around -140 woulda been my opener..i was concerend I would get all support opp way on Thai had i opned Ioka the fav..but hindsight I mighta got stung if guys looked to lay the -140.....not sure if I woulda let it go past -200 unless I was buried simply bc lack of tape on Ioka.

Regarding late lines, one thing that seems obvious to me but haven't got mentioned here is that it is actually costing books, that are paying Joey for his lines, money. Books make money first of all from the volume, so if the lines are only there for 3 hours, I'd imagine the volume will be smaller as if they were there for lets say 3 days. I mean, not everyone can wait there for the lines, people have jobs, lives etc. Besides, for bigger fights a lot of books (especially European ones) have lines at least a week in advance. I personally wouldn't be waiting for Joey's lines to appear if I can get a bet off at another book the day before :)

So, to sum up, all this fighting against copy&paste books is fair and good, but (apart from pissing off punters) it is also costing the "good" books as they are losing on the volume.

Good posts... No question AA under backers deserve to get paid here. The fight happened, it went under...where's the controversy? The bet was not whether or not Bozic was a bum.

For whatever it's worth Oddessa, I woulda hit Ioka hard @ -140. Writing was on the wall for this one. Olydong's time to lose.

Sounds like Graham was on this one too. Probably some other guys here. I think you saved a penny.

nonsense..Donny

lol @ volume...

I could double volume on any bout...at any sportsbook on planet... with click of button... the wager limit size on back end of the software..and a posting line that wasnt there before..that only increases volume by what...100%? because every bet would be 1 more...100% more volume than is up already...

You guys could be texting to OJ Simpson and find a way to debate with him about the knife and glove..

maybe the friday Jap fight would have really ripped the ass out of the Fedor and Villante upsets....

The Euro books were getting a suspiciously large number of bets on Abraham to win in Round 2. I believe that wagering on individual round props were suspended at most Euro books about 48 hours before the fight. I can't say more than this because my sources asked me not to do so, but I think you get the picture.

Yeah, Ioka was a missed opportunity but sometimes it goes both ways. I think, and this is from memory, Joey saved us some money by not posting an over/under on Humberto Soto vs Jesus Chavez. Soto had stopped his last three opponents and as I recall I think most of the sharp guys expected him to stop Chavez.

Sometimes the books save players some money. I was in Vegas for a fight one time and a well-known fight figure was going all over town looking to bet on a fighter in whom he had an interest (this was before the present "corporate line" era in Vegas, a time when each casino hotel more or less had its own lines). The gentleman in question was frustrated and disappointed at not being able to get his money down; but his fighter got stopped. It hurt him that his guy lost, but at least a losing wager didn't add insult to injury.

Would lay a price that if if people kept a list of wagers they did not make as compared to ones did make over a year...you will save money on the bouts that you didnt get down on...

Hindsighst always 100%

Gambling mentality is to recall the bad beats and what ifs..the dollar and a dream...

Players forget the Fumbles, the INT TDS in OT in NCAA Football or inside 2 min warning.....the baskets buzzer beaters, no foul calls,

...the Jermaine Taylors that get stuck on ropes when taking a knee or 2 mighta won him the fight...or lost it for someone else...

In 2000 you were lucky to have a bout or two a week with odds posted on it and almost nothing still ytd in Las Vegas....

a Las Vegas where 85% of properties DID NOT even carry last UFC undercard including TV bouts on Superbowl weekend..

Okay, that adds some intrigue to the Abraham situation, thanks.

No doubt that online books have increased boxing lines. Vegas, no other outlet comes close, and we're glad you're here.

I don't sweat the lines that never were. Menu is always good. All I need to do is remember Oquendo-Mormeck . I woulda been all over Oquendo.

A Side Note on Lines

A Side Note on Lines

The books in Vegas hardly carry ANY boxing lines these days.

You will get HBO bouts, Showtime possibly. You REALLY have to shop around to get an ESPN line, and can forget about German bouts, Japanese bouts, etc.

It's gotten so bad with the properties in the desert being controlled by only a few - combat sports are neglected big time.

In certain cases, lines aren't listed at the hotel the FIGHTS ARE OCCURRING AT! Fucking disgusting.

Oddessa is the only one putting in the work week after week, offering foreign bouts.

The others all wait, copy, paste. 95% of the sportsbooks don't know an Oleydong from an Ioka from an Omigawa.

We have to understand the aggravation on both sides of the table here.

What up with "Bagels?"

What up with "Bagels?"

Why does Joey ( think of Joey said like Ed Harris did in "A History of Violence.") have a monopoly on these lines, anyway? Nothing special about him .His tired ass only cares about MMA anyway. The books that he thinks copies and pastes his genius should get another line-maker. He ain't the only one that can do it.

lol @ monopoly

Books are free to open whenever they want with whatever number they want.

I wake every day hoping someone please take the lead and find someone that will offer everything and make wagering limits worth getting outa bed for.

I will beat you on both sides of the counter and been doing it for a long time. If you think different...post up.

But untill you come with a real name or show something significant you have done with your life in or out of this industry.. instead of some anonymous posting name that only pops up to criticize me.....please dont call meJoey or Bagels..
