Interesting...
Any book that offred a total O/U on that nonsense AAbraham fight this past week should pay out every winner on the UNDER and the RD 2 KOa nd not act like they are doing anyone a favor by doing it... OUT THE BOOKS IF THEY STIFF!
If they didnt learn from Briggs-Green and the past, they got no bizness even booking if they dont wanna pay winners.
7.5 was a donkey line. 4.5 F mighta been just as bad....as AA coulda ended it no matter when he wanted even if dog didnt quit...bout was a joke...
If you got screwed on the O/U by the copy paste sportsbooks that throw that up there to justify their own existence after jumping all over everyone elses intellectual property via copy/paste post the books names so others dont get screwed..even if the book gave u a deal...and gave it..everyone on under shoulda got PAID.
I didnt/wouldt offer a total on that bout.
On the Ioka bout a few ppl are chattering about ....in hindsight...
I would have opened Ioka the favorite last week...I actually posted the chat I had with people here...the night of....HOPING someone would put up the bout...so the players woulda paid for it if they bet the Jap... but was hoping ANY BOOK would grow nuts to put up a number on it so I could ram him up their asses IF they took a bet over $50 or didnt watch any of his footage and went off paper records...and boxing forum donkey posts.
I will open later and later, week after week till the touts and the stiff copy/paste bullshit books lose more and more bizness by just being deceptive and greedy.
How can books suspend the payouts on Abraham O/U. Unacceptable.. anyone that bet under and got stiffed taking that on chin is a fukin moron...esp if they keep playing there and/or endorsing the toilets ..and for not outing the books. Not outing stiff books is a bitch and coward move...
anyways good luck this week....winning and getting paid pending where you play...
Hello Joey,
Message received and understood (I think).
OK, people in the British bookmaking industry are telling me to be patient, that a regulatory agency is involved, the ESSA (European Sports Security Association). It seems the ESSA is instructing sportsbooks not to settle Abraham-Bozic wagers "pending investigation". An inside source tells me not to worry, people WILL get paid. The only way that people won't get paid, I am told, is if the ESSA can find proof that Bozic threw the fight. As I was told: "Who can prove anything?" The "investigation" seems to be window dressing. I'm told people will get paid, so under the circumstances I am just waiting to see how this plays out. I don't believe in going in half-cocked, Joey, I've learned that lesson in a very hard way in my life. This is frustrating for players but I am willing to give the Euro books the benefit of the doubt, for now.
Re. Ioka, members of this board will know that BEFORE the fight I was big on Ioka. (I even posted on-site the day before the fight that I liked Ioka and, in my words, I wrote that if Ioka lost I would be saying a silent thank you to the oddsmakers for not posting a line.) That said, I NEVER thought Ioka would knock out Oleydong in five rounds! I thought more of a close decision type of thing, 115-113, 116-112, 115-113 again type of fight.
Re. later and later lines, that's OK, we kind of expect it now, and I think we take a resigned sort of attitude towards it, not even a big issue any more, but, a word to the wise, "touts" (smiles) can get it wrong. Posting lines earlier doesn't automatically mean that "touts" are going to make money off your back; the reverse can apply.
Where I do agree with you, and I have, believe it or not defended your position on this (OK, I know, I know, you don't need me to defend you) is that, yes, some books could have dared to take a plunge by offering odds on the Ioka fight rather than waiting for you to post a line. I don't believe in slamming books for not offering lines on certain fights because it is a business and it is their money on the table if a line isn't "right", but, yes, it must be frustrating and annoying to you when non-Joey clients just lay back and wait for you to "go first". I think any reasonable person would agree with you on this particular matter.
