"the bunker"
I live in Vancouver B.C. now GW but I well remember "Get Carter" and the classic Michael Caine line: "Now don't be silly. You're a big man, but you're out of shape." ... I don't watch movies much any more although I did enjoy a British crime movie called "Layer Cake", a bit of a sleeper made a few years ago starring Daniel Craig. (The title becomes apparent towards the end of the movie.) I also liked "Gangster No. 1" and "Croupier", both British movies, "Let Him Have It" (another British film) and a movie about the Kray twins called "The Krays". And I thought Richard Burton was brilliant in "Villain", which of course was based on the criminal career of Ronald Kray (the homosexual brother). There was a great ironic line where the Burton character has to make a call using a public phone, and of course the phone has been rendered inoperable by local yobs, petty crime being prevalent in working-class Britain, and the ruthless criminal exclaims in words dripping with disgust: "F---ing vandals!" OK, that's that, back to boxing....

"local yobs"...

last non-boxing comment...no need to respond..."long good friday" with bob hoskins was also excellent...thanks for responding..i`ll check a few of those out...

Klitschko, who has previously sparred with Chambers stated, ?I?ve already tested him and I think the world title will remain in the Klitschko family.?

"Fast" Eddie live

"Fast" Eddie live

Eddie will give it a real go. I believe, if you look at Klitschko's record objectively, that Eddie is the best all around fighter he's met.

People say Eddie is a Byrd clone, but I think he's better and hits harder. He's a fairly sharp hitter with a very good body attack.

Chambers is a small guy that walks big guys down. He's got a great defense and is so relaxed in the ring. He's got sharp reflexes and moves away or picks off punches like they are mosquito's.

He's confident, well spoken and has a clear idea about what he can do and what he will face in the ring.

HBO or someone should pick up this fight. That's a damn travesty and an insult to a real fighter like Eddie.

New champ!

Thats indeed great news, Romi!!!

@Kramden
I like Chambers, he's a good guy, but beating Klitschko will be tough.

Chambers is better than Byrd...but I dont know if it will be enough! He's punching harder, but he's not a teribly hard puncher either.

What I dont like about Chambers is that he isnt a good mover! He's actually pretty stationary, and that might spell doom against Wladimir.

I expect him to go some rounds though...

I think Chambers has a reasonable shot. He has to find a way inside which is always much easier said than done v Wlad. Wlads jab is one of the best ever at Hvy IMO. Give Wlad the range and he kills you. But get inside and take him out of his comfort zone and he doesn't handle it too well. Wlad has a great jab, excellent left hk and a very good rt, but uppercuts and body shots are nearly non existant. Wlad has nearly perfected holding on the inside. I'd expect a lot of it. The fight is in Germany so he'll get away w/it. I think this one goes rds. I think Chambers will have good moments but Wlad will jab, hold, jab, hold a lttle more, and get off enough occasional rt hands to win a rather boring dec.

I also think that the most likeliest result Wlad by UD.
Hopefully Eddie Chambers face will hold up. So far Eddie was not hurt in fights. But so as Chagaev and Wlad stoped him. I think it is difficult to fight "relaxed" against Wlad, you have to be alert and it will drain your energy or by round 10 your eyes will close and ref stop fight just because of Wlad hard and heavy jab alone.
Chagaev started fight well for example and moved head but then start getting tired and Wlad start landing.
Chambers fight is not easy for Wlad, but I think he can win hopefully for me by decision.

I think there is a great likelihood that the fight unfolds just like that.

Chambers has to find a way to get inside and he needs quicker feet (his hands are quick) to do this on a regular basis.

If Wladimirs feet are set and he can throw his right hand often enough he might get a late round stoppage. IMO the Ibragimov fight was very interesting (from a tactical standpoint). Ibragimov was throwing his wide shots, because he kew that Wladimir would be intimidated. Chambers needs to keep Wladimir thinking about something and he cant let him get comfortable.

One-dimensional Pacman bores Mayweather Jr:

"I think Pacquiao got exposed in that fight for being one-dimensional. You can have all the offense ability in the world, but with no defense, you?re not going to last long against a good counter puncher such as myself," Floyd Mayweather Jr. said.

"When was the last time you?ve seen my face all messed up like that?."

"At least when you watch Floyd Mayweather Jr., you know you?ll be seeing non-stop action for 30 minutes straight," said Mayweather.

... "The only reason why he's popular is because he's an ethnic minority and from the Philippines, so it's something special. If he was from Africa he would be just another boxer."

I'm having a hard time seeing how Chambers wins this.
He doesn't hit hard enough to flap Wlad's vag.

But the odds on Klit are too high.
I'm gonna bet small on Eddie for one reason - Victor Conte.

from badlefthook:

* Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam will take a step up this weekend as he faces former title challenger Elvin Ayala. The fight will put the winner in position to fight for the WBA title, down the line.

* In Belgium, Randall Bailey will face Jackson Bonsu. This one is Bailey's debut at 147, after getting brutally knocked out by Juan Urango in his last bout. Both guys are actually very similar - lowish output fighters with huge punches and sketchy chins.

ESPN2, 10:00 p.m. Eastern, Deandre Latimore vs. Sechew Powell, Carson Jones vs. Delray Raines. Latimore and Powell rematch what was a very even (but fairly unexciting) fight a few years back when Latimore forced a stoppage seemingly out of nowhere. Jones has to be disappointed. After beating Tyrone Brunson, he was supposed to fight Tony Margarito on the televised Pacquiao-Clottey undercard. Instead he gets Raines, who has a pretty record but who has lost to every decent fighter he's faced.
