"the bunker"
finishing up the fight...

observations...
-two potential knockdowns(one each) that weren`t called....again,why is cole still reffing?...

-he also warned abraham for sticking his arm out straight at a point where abraham was doing good work on the ropes...terrible reffing...

-in the 9th,the doctor was cleaning and putting pressure on abraham`s cut for about 2 minutes....lol?....wth was that all about?...good lord...

-honestly,i saw no obvious indication that dirrell was getting knocked out prior to that foul..and it was clearly a flagrant foul....you could argue that a jab was thrown at the point dirrell went down....i wouldn`t bitch about calling a k.d....a punch was landed(as were punches in the other 2 instances that weren`t called knock downs).......but,that doesn`t change the fact that he was fouled blatantly ...

-abraham is strong...but when he`s stepping up against elite competition,he can`t sleepwalk for 2/3 of the fight...that`s crazy....

-in a way, this was a blessing for abraham..he was way behind and it taints dirrell`s win....he probably would have done much better if he`d actually started fighting before the 8th or 9th...

-i don`t think that dirrell knew where he was after the foul...he looked incoherent...he had no idea what happened and was rambling....

-i wish abraham well vs ward and kessler....but he can`t keep depending on these late round hail mary`s vs this level competition...most of the guys in this tourney are better than what he fought prior to the tourney...and both ward and kessler are probably better than dirrell...

not sure whether "dirrell looking good" had as much to do with the one-sided scoring as"abraham did nothing" for much of the fight...

just my opinion... interesting night to say the least...:scared

LOL at the debacle that was the Showtime post fight interviews with Jim Gray:

Dirrell crying "I got dropped man!"
dude was in no condition to speak

Abraham and his people
"He's an actor, not a fighter. a good actor"

Funny week!

Magic (lol) Hatton survives a shaky start against an 40 year old Italian.

Kretschman showed the chin and skills but not the heart to win against Bakhtov.

Gamboa looked like a shelf of his usual self.

Abraham doesn?t have the physical advantages he had as a middleweight (Dirrell looked like the stronger fighter in some rounds). Bad news for his style!
He cant just walk everybody down in the last rounds (though it would have been interesting to see the last 2 rounds, Dirrell WPTS looked like the most likely result, but it wasn?t a foregone conclusion at all).
Dirrell showed some poise in this fight and he countered Abraham nicely, which is a very clever thing to do against him?

BTW, I wonder if he was acting after the foul?

Guzman in retrospection was the play of the week (and maybe Carwin). + 9 lbs is quite an advantage, even though the fight was still very close?(should have played more here).

The shocker of the week for me was Henry KO1 over Garay. I had to read that twice.
WTF happened to Garay?you ve really got to be wary if there is so little coverage on a fight...

BTW, did anybody watch the Molitor fight?I would like to know how close this fight really was.

Decent week!!

Super 6

Super 6

Yeah, funny week.. Not that profitable for me though, even though I had both Dirrell and Guzman :) But for small stakes only, I really liked Cayo's chances, and also Alfaro, Cermeno and Garay :(

What also is funny is how the Super 6 that seemed to be a great thing for boxing is turning out to be rather not.

First we had Dirrell hugging and clinching for 12 rounds for a somewhat dubious loss, and then whining about it for weeks. Then Ward, even though beating Kessler clearly, essentially head-butted his way into the stoppage. Then Abraham hitting the man when he was down, and that man seemingly acting for an easy way out. Well, OK, you can't call Direll a 'man' if that's true.. :) And even Taylor's KO, though it was a beautiful punch, essentially retired Taylor and created impression that he was fed to the sharks. Oh, and we are yet to see Alan Green that has all the skills to stink the place out based on his past... :)

Guys, I just watched the Henry-Garay fight.
This bout was pretty much ignored with all the fights around the globe yesterday.

Unfortunately, the reporting on this fight was very bad. No one has stated what really occurred.
The first round KO was very fluky and those who had Garay got an unfair deal.

Henry was holding in a clinch and landed a right hand to the back of Garay's head. He then tossed Garay to the canvas, and Garay's head hit the canvas on the way down. Garay was either out cold, or I suspect, acting a bit to try to get the foul called. The idiot referee counted Garay out. Garay's people went crazy and stormed the ring. Chaos started. The PCP addict Henry started parading around like he was champ. Bastard. End result. KO 1. Bullshit.

I'm super pissed off, but what can you do. This is boxing.

That fight had OVER written all over it so I had just assumed that Garay simply got caught cold early before warming up. I should have known better than to assume anything in a foreign land. Is it on you tube? From the sounds of it, it should have been ruled a dq or NC at worst. It absolutely fucked what was a pretty damn good week.
I have a simple and logical solution to do with

corrupt inept incompetant refs...:bigun:

Before lining them all up in front of the firing squad, do you mind if I grant Patricia Jarmin a pardon for her role in the Shu/Campillo fiasco?
:142smilie :mj07: :142smilie :mj07: :142smilie
Looks like karma came back and bit me in the ass.

I am gonna find it on youtube and post it
I am watching it again right now, and a lot of it is Garay's fault

He was looking to get the foul called
I was wrong about his head smacking the canvas.....basically Henry is holding him with his left hand and smacks him with his right while holding him....watch Henry's other fights....he does this all the time.....the dude is a drug addict and just a crazy ass fighter...Garay was looking to get the foul called....after they counted him out, he got right back up.....we needed Lawrence Cole as the ref, he would have believed Garay right away....plus, Cole doesn't count knockdowns, so the fight would have been re-started
:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

A lot of this is Garay's fault for not getting up, but the punch that put him down was a clear foul....holding and hitting in the clinch......fuk.....

Funniest part was, after the ref counts ten, Garay's people jump in the ring and go nuts....and some old corner man tries to put the ref in a guilotine choke!
:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:
The corner chased the ref out of the ring....they were PISSED !

Colonel Bob Sheridan was on the US commentating side and did a horrible job on the call....he didn't even see what happened
He was like "he must have hit him with something"
what a mess

the guy is even more annoying than Lamp, if that is even possible. Ok so I officially pardon Patricia Jarmin and in her place I put

"Colonel" Bob Sheridan :bigun: :mj07:

If Lamp isn't careful, he's going to suffer the same fate. :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

I better be careful, this boxing betting is turning me into a nazi.

Remember when Sheridan had Spinks 12 to zero over Verno, and then they announced Verno the new champ?
:142smilie :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

But honestly, the referee sucked in this Henry-Garay match

Holding a guy with one hand while smacking him in the back of the skull with the other hand is not allowed....not even in MMA...it's an automatic DQ

The WORST of the worst had to be "DR" Ferdie Pacheco. The guy spoke with marbles in his mouth. He was so inarticulate, it amazed me how he got a job with NBC and Showtime. Simply THE worst interviewer on the planet. His claim to fame was being Ali's personal physician but other than that he knew squat about boxing. He was just horrendous. Teddy Brenner the great matchmaker nearly had a coronary when Pacheco once likened Vinnie Paz to Willie Pep
:scared :scared :scared :scared :scared.
Pep was a defensive wizard and quite frankly Vinnies face looked like a dropped pizza after every one of his fights.

This is really CRAZYY!!!

I don?t know if there is another sport where so much bullsh** happens.

This being said this scenario IMO is more plausible than a legit first round ko by Henry.

There is no way to protect against things like this?you just got to hope that in the long run ?ou will benefit from such incidents as well?

Decent week!!

Molitor clear winner despite the closeness of the Canadian commentary ... 116-112 looked right ... He was too smart and clever for Ndlovu and he got in good shots in several well-contested rounds to turn the rounds in his favour ... Ndlovu knew he lost and the South Africans had no complaints ... Interestingly, Ndlovu busted open Molitor's left eye with a right hand in the closing stages of the last round. If Ndlovu had landed that right hand early in the fight instead of late the result could have been different.
