Agbeko's health is a tad more important than everyone's betting tickets.

C'mon; you guys are almost sounding like you need to go on Oprah or something! This is a gambling forum; we don't need no stinking compassion!

Nonito Donaire
Abner Mares
Joseph Agbeko
Yohnny Perez
Vic Darchinyan
Anselmo Moreno
Fernando Montiel
Omar Andres Narvaez (possibly coming up)

Bantam has got to be the best division in boxing right now!

Latest word is that Showtime wants a last minute Mares-Darchinyan rematch.

Doesn't seem fair to any of the 3 remaining fighters, and they are complaining.

Perez wants to fight and get paid.
Abner's camp doesn't want to switch opponents last minute.
No word from the Darchinyan camp.

This is a complete mess for the fighters now, and a complete mess to gamble on.

Final decision from Showtime:

"Vic Darchinyan will still face Yonnhy Perez this Saturday night at 10:30p ET/PT as planned. Abner Mares will not be fighting."

Its really sad that Mares wont fight....but why would they make Mares fight Vic again, when Vic is scheduled to fight Yonhi!?

They could televise the big heavyweight showdown between DaVarryl Williamson and Michael Marrone.

Showtime Main Event

Showtime Main Event

I'm going to bet Yohnny in this fight, but without extreme confidence.

I think he's the better fighter - particularly at 118.

BUT

These 4 bantamweights have fought to 5 decisions between them (3 very close).

I will sprinkle on the draw, majority, and split.

I see a few people recommending Yohhny straight, with a Darchinyan KO backup plan. I don't like it. I understand the hedge mentality, but this strategy could easily get you bit twice if Vic pulls out a decision.

Vic hasn't smashed a fighter at 118 yet. But his guts and stamina have been keeping all these bouts close.

I think Perez takes a 7-5 type nod on the cards - but wouldn't be surprised to see it 7-5 to the wild Australian.

It would surprise me if Darchinyan stopped the well-schooled Colombian.

Sidenote: The weigh-in could be key here. Yohnny might be having trouble making 118. If he's not dried out and looks good, I think he wins.

My 2 cents:
Vic is the oldest competitor. I thought he fought very well against Mares, against Agbeko he just fought the wrong fight. Now, he says that he wants to change it again and be the agressor. I'm not sure though, if he can do that on a consistent basis. Mares won against him on workrate and Yonnhi, if he is in good shape has a great workrate!
Thats exactly the point though. If there is a fighter in this tourney who has been matched hard in his last few fights, its definetely been Yonnhi. And against Agbeko it clearly showed!
If Perez has recoverd, I pick him to win, but thats no sure thing...

@Ghost
I agree, I wouldnt play that hedge either!

I lean Perez because of the interview at fightnews and what he had to say, and what I believed to be a sincere response to questions asked. Don't recall what scribe said it, but all things being equal, preparation can tip the scales either way. Slight edge Perez based on what seems like superior preparation.
