Friday April 29; boxing at the Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas

Friday April 29; boxing at the Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas

Another wasted trip. With the price of gas, it's like paying extra juice trying to line up a bet. So the Cosmo sports book is managed by Cantor Gaming. They also do the Hard Rock, Trop, and a few other joints. Had a long talk with the sports book supervisor today. So he tells me I must be joking if I think they will hang up a number on a fight 3days away!!! Wow, that must be like dog years to them. Says only on HUGE MEGA crap will a number be posted. As if we all don't know that. Also what is interesting is he tells me they have NO LIMITS. Guess that's why money May shops there. So lines for Molina-Conyers will be posted in 2 days. Lastly he says they post lines on all sorts of obscure fights, but today they did'nt have not one sheet out or any line posted!

Well discussing IRS matters in an open forum can be dangerous. I did hear that they won't fill out the dreaded form if you take the winnings in chips. A sports bet is different than a slot jackpot. My understanding is winnings are reported if the payout is 600 to 1 or more. But I am sure we have some astute guys here who may be 100% certain as to how it works.

Simpson-Smith

Simpson-Smith

Excellent midweek match-up, maybe the best fight of the whole week.

I'm tipping Simpson in the rematch. Smith won the first by split dec., this fight is in Smith's hometown - 2 obstacles.

I was EXTREMELY impressed with Simpson in his last fight with undefeated Lindsay though. I thought he upped his game to a new level and this will give him great confidence going into this fight.

Smith has been on ice since the last fight with Simpson. I see Simpson coming out strong and seizing the initiative.

If Simpson can win this, I think he's just one more good win away from rising above the English domestic level and earning himself a world title shot.

116-112 Simpson.

Depends on the early rounds. Simpson jumped all over Lindsay early, built confidence and never let up.

But Simpson is a mercurial fighter - up and down performances at the domestic level.

Very tough venue in Liverpool - the crowd will be behind Swifty all the way.

Wouldn't be surprised to see either man take this. I lean Smith on points, but I certainly wouldn't lay the -200 I see at some spots.

I'm looking forward to some Wednesday boxing.

This Prizefighter is going to be hilariously entertaining. I'm gonna hold off till I see some odds, but I think a few of these potential matchups will be very fun to watch.

They got known names this time, including Sprott, who is attempting to become the first back to back Prizefighter winner (he won the UK heavyweight tourney, and now will represent England in this so-called "International" Prizefighter Tourney.

David Price KO1 Raphael Butler

Total mismatch. Price looks to have some potential - 6-8 good jab and accuracy. Butler really shouldn't be fighting anymore though. Price will fight John McDermott next, which should be a good test for him.

End of 7. Very good tough fight. Smith hurt him in the first, and looked a class above in the 2nd. Since it's been a grueling fight. Simpson coming on.

I've got it 4-3 Smith right now.

Big 8 from Simpson. Smith is tiring.

Smith's constant pushing Simpson to the ropes clinching ,mauling, armbarringi; releasing, punching, is a bunch of crap for me..... ruins the sport IMO but did what he had to do to ensure the close win.

114-114

118-112

115-114 Smith

LOTL had to be liking his chances near the end. I think it goes without saying he played the draw. I didn't see any of it but based on all, 118-112 must be highway robbery

Well, I think the fairest decision for this fight would be a DRAW. Good tough fight. Can absolutely go either way. Scorecards shouldn't be more than 1 or 2 points in either direction.

Fight in Smith's hometown.

Decision coming up.
