Salido (33-10-2, 22 KOs) is set for Saturday at the Estadio Tomas Oroz Gaytan in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. Cruz, who beat Salido by split decision in 2008 to win the vacant belt, will be making his fourth defense. It is 10 rounds at 142 pounds. I spoke with Golden Boy's matchmaker today (Wed.) ... BoxRec has the distance as 12 rounds, but unfortunately BoxRec sometimes gets the distance wrong on its fight schedule.

wonder why 142 ?...nate`s highest weight has been 138.5(last fight vs bradley)...that`s 2 fights at a few pounds over lightweight(bradley and funeka)......and neither went particularly well,imo..

now golden boy`s guy ortiz(a big jr welter) gets an extra 2 pound to work with?.....

i don`t care what anybody says,ortiz was an eyelash from getting maidana out of there...that`s his loss(and some bogus d.q.)....and maidana was robbed vs koteljnik...the guy should be undefeated and belongs right up there among bradley,alexander et al...not sure nate deserves the rating at jr welter yet...

i love getting the younger,bigger, well rounded(boxer/puncher) golden boy fighter in the golden boy promotion at -150 vs a 38 year old campbell who hasn`t looked stellar at the weight...

i love the fact that people are writing ortiz off as soft after the maidana war...

gimme more ortiz...

edit...they`re both golden boy fighters...i still believe they see ortiz as the better long term money maker for themselves....why else give ortiz the extra 2 pounds?...

one last thing...every time i go to the golden boy site i get a security message that a virus threat`s been blocked...be careful...
