Weekend plays

Weekend plays

Big week with alot to choose from. Gots to be careful on weeks such as this not to spread self tooo thin. I'm essentially backing 4 guys:

Victor Ortiz (-160) - good size Well documented by the madjack crew. Weasel had an excellent post earlier on. I think this fight is made for him to win - 142lbs. Plus yes, he was one punch away from ko'ing Maidana. I don't think he's a coward, and I think he proves a point here against ageing Campbell, who 'quit' himself against Bradley.

Kevin Mitchell (-145) - good size Also well spoken by the crew. I'm high on Mitchell and rode him big against Presecott and the under against Mendoza... This fight makes me nervous though. Mitchell will have to walk thru fire here. Katsidis is by far the best opponent he has faced, 2 steps up from anything before. Marginal competition for Mitchell concerns me, plus he came up in weight not so long ago and Kat is a strong LW...but I will ride my belief in Mitchell as the real deal. Sharp puncher...I see Katsidis cut early.

Orlando Salido (+175) - good size I really like this as the sleeper pick of the week. Lot's going on so easy to forget about, but... Cristobal Cruz has done great, far better than anyone expected of him at this point in his career. Win against Frenchman Cyril Thomas was tougher than expected though, and he fought very tough but might have got a bit of homecooking vs. Jorge Solis... Cruz and Salido fought not so long ago on neutral turf in US. Cruz got the decision but it was a very even fight - judging might have been a little payback for ped accusations against Salido? THIS REMATCH IS IN SALIDO'S HOMETOWN OF OBREGON THOUGH!! There was very little to choose from between these guy's in the first fight... Here I think these 'even' rounds might sway Salido's way. Love the plus odds, and will play the dog healthy here.

Herman Ngoudjo (-110) - medium rare Went a little lesser here because I am not soo confident in Ngoudjo. This is more a bet against Julio Diaz then anything. I think he's more or less shot and will lose to any solid fighter these days. Extra weight doesn't help either. Ngoudjo is not the prototype to dominate Diaz, and he took a terrible beating against Urango, but I think he's classy enough to get the job done. Maybe a little tougher than expected.

Cruz-Salido OVER 10.5 (-125) - small I couldn't resist to drop a bit on this. On another week probably would have gone bigger, because I like the odds on this play. First fight went 12. Two good chins. Tough guys but not huge punchers. Barring the cut scenario it has all the makings.

Also think Chisora and Sexton are worthy parlayables, along with Lee and Dzinziruk of course... Wlod-Frag also looks to go over 11.5, but odds are climbing now...

Good luck madmen!!! :box2:

I think, like Quanah said, Salido is a good dog
fight is in his hometown and first fight was a split
BUT
the reason I won't bet big on it is Salido hasn't looked so great after the steroids
still, push comes to shove, I think Salido will win a decision

oh
after doing a bit of research
I remember this first fight between Cruz and Salido
it was on ESPN
ironically, if memory serves, Saildo was a 3 to 1 fav that night
now the roles have reversed
i remember Salido cost me a parlay, but I clearly scored it for Cruz, with him sweeping the later rounds
I think this will go the distance again
good call Quanah
I will be rooting for you
hopefully in Salido's backyard
they let him take whatever "good juice" he was on before he fought Guerrero....best he ever looked

Looks like everyone is going Mitchell...have to say I don't think its a very good play. Aside from the promotional interest/politics in favor of Mitchel, I don't see what makes him a good pick. If you look at his Boxrec page, how many Mitchell opponents do you recognize beyond Prescott? Sure he can box well enough against journeymen and nobodies, but is he mature enough as a boxer to keep Katsidis off of him? Mitchel isn't going to outwork Kat like Diaz either, nor is he going to counter as well as Casamayor....plus Katsidis has been improving defensively in his last few fights IMO.

But given the venue maybe this is a fight to stay away from altogether.

I haven't seen enough of Mitchell to make a case for or against. However i think Kat will pretty much need to dominate him to win. If the rds are remotely close they are going to Mitchell. On neutral ground the odds would be a virtual pic em...no bet for me but good luck...Dwyer is on the dog here. Won't be surprised if this ends in a bit of controversy.

It's good to hear that perspective, and I hear ya. Mitchell's best opponent was probably Johanneson, which ain't sayin' all that much. Jo was in good form at the time though. Prescott was way over-hyped, and a relatively easy fight... Kat is very tough, solid top 10 guy at the weight, prolly higher. Nevertheless, I'm ridin' my belief that Mitchell is the goods... This is his test. I saw him pretty far back and thought he had something special. We'll see...

My picks

Khan- HUGE-explained already in previous posts. Khan holds the cards here....speed, pop, strength, ring generalship, promotion, upside. I think Paulie will do everything he can to make this an ugly fight. I expect Paulie to hit and hold and quite frankly, I think this will be a boring fight but Khan SHOULD have his hand raised

Khan/Mags under small- IF Paulie decides to fight I think Khan can get him out by the later rds. I believe Roach was attempting to get in his head by predicting a 3rd rd KO. Paulie appears pretty pissed at the comments so I think it worked. 11 1/2 rds is a lot of time for Khan to make things happen. I expect a distant fight but if it's one sided then I can see a ref stoppage around 9. +140 was a decent price.

Wlod Lrge- I thought he clearly won the 1st go. The Italian ref was blatantly biased and perhaps he saved Frag from getting stopped in rd 9. The ref was looking to take pts away from Wlod for just being there. The Polish venue is key in this wager. Frag will soon be 41 and I don't see him improving at all on the 1st fight.

Ortiz-med-the 10 rds favors Ortiz IMO. Ortiz has size youth and pop on his side. Campbell showing signs of being a little long in the tooth. 142 would be another advant if that's the wt but apparently that's still in question. Not worth betting a bundle because Nate is still dangerous and he's a wiley vet who could possibly expose Vic if Vic doesn't have the heart for a long grueling fight. Campbell gives away early rds and Vic should be able to hold on and take a dec. I'll be surprised if Vic can take out campbell. I think Vic will take a unam dec. It also helps that Oscar is the promotor here.

Good luck Jackers....BIG week here!

Double Chances and Draw ftw!

Double Chances and Draw ftw!

Intersting weekend with a lot of good and some close fights. e.g. Mitchell vs Katsidis

I have a lot DCs for this weekend especially for the Kahn fight, as maybe someone will be stopped in the later rounds. Straight on Kahn + Draw and a very small amount on Mag. inside at very nice odds as a extremly cheap hedge.

Krzysztof Wlodarczyk should win in his home country too. Maybe even by mid/late ko.

For some other fights I am playing draws and DCs in additon and some dogs (real dogs that are unlikely to win but I could not resist +2500 lines...)

Maybe some more plays, lets wait and see.

Lg to the Crew!

"the bunker"
guys..graham came back in and corrected his earlier post regarding the ortiz/campbell catch weight...read graham`s ortiz/campbell column below...he`s saying that he was informed by campbell`s peeps that it is indeed at 140...

it doesn`t change my mind at all...but if anybody hears any info from the weigh-in,i`d be curious to hear the weights that these guys came in at...

i`ll also be on salido at + money....his record is stellar...in the last 8/9 years he`s only lost to cruz(sd),jmm(ud) and cobrita gonzales(md) when he was very good....

even if he loses,it`s still a bet worth making,imo...

nice get quanah:toast:

btw..i always thought that julio diaz was one of the most protected, shrewdly moved fighters in recent memory...it seemed that there were powers that be behind the scenes that would sell their soul to get the kid a championship and keep him in the public eye as a legit, elite contender....lots of mid-level journeymen with some name recognition on that resume...but when he stepped up and fought the cream or "near cream",he usually failed...and most times was stopped...he used to have some snap on his punches...haven`t seen that as much of late...

i`m not sure this time...i like the fact that ngoudjo is bigger....if he were a little bigger puncher,i`d lay the wood because ngoudjo is the tougher guy...sure looks like ngoudjo`s gonna be there at the end...and that`s not good for diaz...

might par ngoudjo with something...more a wager against diaz...

don`t know enough about mitchell....he might be too slick...but katsidis` power and fearlessness scares me...

might parlay ngoudjo/mitchell for a decent payoff if both happen to hit...don`t feel strong about it,though..very small...

It doesn't matter to me either if the Ortiz weight is 142 or 140. Ortiz is bigger, younger, faster, stronger... I think he has taken enough heat for his fight with Maidana. Maidana is a beast, and this fight will in time be chalked up as a learning experience for the talented Ortiz. Campbell recently came up to 140, looked slow against Bradley (which is easy to do). Tough fight and good test for combacking Ortiz.

Valero's body being exhumed because authorities think there was some foul play with his death...

I thought there was something suspicious there... I mean, you'd think they'd have that covered, in terms of not giving inmates the 'ability' to hang themselves...

...

my reason for not betting is ngoudjo's lack of pop....but I agree with you 100%....Diaz has been protected for years and is borderline shot....Reyes starched him and Cayo beat him easy....The fight is being promoted by Thompson Boxing (Diaz), but I think Herman is going to beat Julio up and win a decision....Herman, unfortunately, doesn't hit very hard....but Diaz has been stopped by guys who aren't necessarily killers....I am backing Ngoudjo, but not with money

Doesn't mean he will win, but Katsidis looks great !
Chisora is a real dickhead, but he should beat up poor Williams

WOW !

WOW !

Perez has 2 fights in 1 night

Unbeaten Cuban Heavyweight prospect Mike Perez (8-0, 6 KOs) is set create history by having two fights in one night at the University Arena in Limerick, Ireland. The Mike Tyson lookalike will open the show against Edgar Kalnars (21-22, 12 KOs) and should everything go smoothly in that fight he will be back in the ring for a second time in a matter of hours to take on Tomas Mrazek (4-27-5, 3 KOs). The 9 bout card is headlined by middleweight contender Andy Lee?s clash with former European Champ Mamadou Thiam.

i found it a little sad that the brits didn`t show williams a little more love.....particularly it being his last fight....

yeah, the guy`s on his last legs, but he`s given those fans an awful lot of great moments.....
