"leave me alone while I do my push ups"

"leave me alone while I do my push ups"

Why wasn't Hopkins push ups deal ruled a knock down? Of course he wasn't touched and it wasn't ruled a slip, BUT, anytime any part of a fighters body, other than the soles of his feet touch the canvas, its ruled a knock down. Taking this further, what if a guy gets tapped and he goes down, say a "flash knock down", and he immediately starts to do a push up. Silly you might say, but its a dangerous precedent. It was funny but it makes a mockery of a sport that is full of inconsistencies as it is.

Yea, I loved it too. But the ref did'nt even wipe Hopkins gloves off after the push ups fiasco. But the ref also missed two knock downs so that isn't saying much. It was probably one of the most entertaining fights I have seen in ages, but rules are rules. I'm anal, what can I say!

i thought the ref wasnt horrible cuz he seemed green to x's tactics

there would have been refs with insistent warnings, insistent middling, warnings to the corners

imagine if you had bet hop to knockdown pascal at +450

i saw that line at 5dimes

Hey guys

Well, a shitty week of capping from me. A bit embarrassing even. All over the map.

At least Hopkins did what I thought he would. I think it was Romi who said love him or hate him.... The dude is a legend, one of the greatest ever. 46 years old is downright phenomenal when you consider the physical state of the average 46 year old. I was a big Marvin Hagler fan - would've been great to see them two get it on.

Dawson was disappointing to me. I really thought he would fight pissed an look to make a statement... Just another sparring session. Unless Bad Chad grows some cajones, Hopkins will have his way with him.

Thought Gutierrez would get the nod at home. Guess Palacios was just better.

For what it's worth, and it ain't much, I tought DeGale knicked the fight 7-5 - and that result would've changed my whole week. Groves fought harder though.

On to next week.

Hey brother, you made all of us $$$ in the past so don't sweat it. You got the goods to figure this stuff out. You'll be punishing them again soon enough!

Groves on Degale

Groves on Degale

Nice kid, but not a very honest assessment of what went down - I think he got hit with more than just headbutts.

DeGale looked to me like fighter who is not used to get hit a lot. This is the fight he could clearly win but he had to take more chances than he used to. In highest level of the sport you will get tagged no matter how talented you are. I hope he learned that now but it's to late for my bet

I still think he won but in those environment you have to expect decision going the other way.

BTW Just saw that one euro book posted odds for a rematch if it happens till the end of the year.
DeGale is -175
Grows +125
Guess this bookie saw the same fight as we did.

Just read that one judge had RJ by a pt and The other 2 had lebed by 11 and 3 respectively. I didnt see the fight but was this actually close? Like Morales I think RJ probably was getting pts for simply being who he is.

Moot pt now but would be curuious to see how the judges scored the Degale/Groves fight...especially the last rd which saw both fighters having moments but Groves, imo perphaps stole it in final 10 seconds.

My opinion:

Roy probably stole a few early rounds, moving, shucking and jiving. Lebedev just followed him around the entire fight.

Lucky for the Russian, Roy was exhausted after 6 minutes - beginning his usual rope a dope, high gloves routine. Lebedev was pounding on him every round from round 4 on. I can't imagine having RJJ up on the cards. That is just dead wrong.

Regarding Degale-Groves. The more I read, the more I see scores in favor of Degale. Just gutted to lose a bet by those margins.

Degale's behavior all week created an incredible environment in the arena - they despised him ! The support for Groves was overwhelming. Judges are only human - I'm sure the crowd had a bit of an influence on the result.

The crowd was booing JG like crazy, and cheering every little pitter patter GG landed. I was very nervous going to the scorecards (sweating in fact). I knew my bet was in big trouble.

Degale, to me, seems the better fighter. I just wish he had proven it clearly on the night.

Those who backed Groves deserve praise. He put on a performance that was unexpectedly smart and technical. I don't think he won the fight, but I certainly can't argue with the result when my guy simply didn't put a clear stamp (after running his mouth all week about KOs).

ghost

u gonna go to rios-antillon at home depot in july?

I am gonna try.

Not sure they will let me in the arena - Cintron fights Molina on the undercard.

Pretty sure Kermit the Frog has a restraining order against me for all the things I've written on madjack.

One of the all time funniest moments on Madjacks is when you posted the youtube footage of Kermit leaping out of the ring in slo mo with the black dude doing the commentating. Absolutely classic stuff :142smilie :mj07: :142smilie

This is my opinion to the letter.

This is as good as GG gets. DeGale can improve 100% from the last fight if he just lets his hands fly.

I HATE watching someone hardly breathing hard after 12 rounds. It tells me you didn't give EVERYTHING you had to win.

Sorry about your loss bro :toast:
