When was he supposed to have had hepatitis?!
It's true, he hasnt looked as impressive in his last two fights, but he hasnt been very active lately, and both fighers were easy to look past.

But quite frankly, when was the last time that Valuev looked impressive, I thought he looked worse in the second Ruiz fight than in the first, and against Holyfield he was horrible, maybe he didnt train the way he used to (he was very light, whatever that means), but I dont think he carried Holy, he just couldt deliver....

I thought it was well known that Chagaev is suspected to have been suffering from hepatitis. Dan Rafael alluded to this in an article on ESPN.com on June 26, 2008 when writing about Chagaev's injuries and medical issues. Rafael noted that the Universum people put out a statement saying that Chagaev had been suffering from "an acute inflammation of the body" but Rafael added: "Numerous sources reported that he was suffering from hepatitis B."

ah ok, maybe my question was a bit ambigious.
I have heard about that illness as well, but I'm not sure, when exaclty he was diagnosed with Hepatitis (or the like). If it was between his fight against Valuev and the fight against Skelton that might be the reason for his weak showings...

This is the same song Mundine always sings. First he announces he is going for a knockout, then he fights a safe first fight. Taylor fight was the latest example.

Having said that, I'll bet under 'cause I like the line.

The press conference for Friday?s IBF bantamweight title eliminator between Silence Mabuza (22-2, 18 KOs) and Yonnhy Perez (18-0, 13 KOs) took place at the Johannesburg television studios of media giant SABC Sport on Monday.
?Perez is a good fighter, he has speed, power, and a great amateur career,? stated Mabuza. ?But he has never faced anybody of name in his career. I fought the best; I have vast experience in situations like this. Perez has not faced one quality opponent and now he is in front of me, he is blocking my way to the championship belt and I have to take him out of the way. I am very confident this fight will end in a knockout, I will win in spectacular fashion.? Perez countered, ?I know Mabuza from watching him on different DVDs. He is a tough fighter but he is not invincible. I have worked long and hard to be here today, he might think he will knock me out but he better be ready for 12 hard rounds. An opportunity like this only comes once in a lifetime and I will make the best of it. If he thinks he will clear me out of the ring early he is dead wrong. Things like this don?t happen every day and I know I will win.? The bout is presented by Branco Sports Promotions, in association with Thompson Boxing Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions and will take place at the Springs Indoor Arena just outside Johannesburg.

One thing that really worries me about Chagaev is the so-called mystery illness he had a while back. This is believed to have been hepatitis, which I am told stays in the system for a long time. Kramden was spot-on about Chagaev against Drummond: this was a life and death fight for Chagaev, and one he looked like losing. Chagaev's first fight with Valuev was very close, and I had Chagaev ahead only by 115-113. While Valuev looked terrible against Holyfield, I have been told that Valuev never really wanted that fight and was concerned about a negative reaction if he hurt the great old warrior. The might be a grain of truth in this, because Valuev certainly fought like someone who didn't want to hurt his opponent. I am with Kramden in that this fight needs a very close look before any triggers are pulled on a wager but I am starting to lean Valuev's way.
Yeah, it's a tough call. It's almost worth passing on to avoid a headache but, of course, we'll go over it anyway.

Geale F'ed up MacKillop last time out with 1 punch, but that's MacKilliop.

Mundine could get beat, it's probably his toughest fight in 3 years since he fought Danny Green.

Mundine makes good money fighting local guys or average veterans. I'm sure he took the fight because he was sure he could win.

I hope it's a good fight.

That's too bad. It looks like this one could have been draw. Good play, though.

Here's a trend I noticed:

in split decisions, the fighter who gets the first scorecard usually gets the final scorecard and the win.

Isn't that ridiculous? i actually hope someone proves me wrong here lol.

Mundine must have trouble (as Abraham does) making 160. His performances have been slipping since coming down in weight.

That Crazy Kim cat had him pretty hurt a few fights ago. Now this close call. I still might pick him over Sturm though.

I have to to think about that one. First Sturm has to beat Gevor on July 11th.

Fightnews reports a KD by Geale that wasn't counted. Ruled a slip even though Geale connected with an effective punch. This fight was one step away from being Geale's night.

In boxing there is no sure thing, but I will be shocked if Oleydong Sithsamerchai lose to Muhammad Rachman.

I did not include this on the weekly schedule, but apparently there are lines listed for this French card today.

Affif Belghecham vs. Woulid Guarras
Hussein Bayram vs. Damien Bertu
