Point well taken. Many times, in Vegas, I can't even get plays on the TELEVISED undercard bouts on HBO and Showtime. Boxing is largely ignored for sports that bring in more money. And when I do go to place a bet at the Wynn, Bellagio, etc., most of my questions about lines are greeted with puzzled looks and questions like "What's the fighter's name? When is it?"
Frank did mention The Plaza in Vegas - I know they used to hang a few more lines than other casinos.
Regardless, offshore clearly offers more options. Way more.
MayorgaFan, both you and Joey have been very helpful answering questions I've had in the past (the 60 day rule, the Botha-Carrion debacle, etc). I very much appreciate any time either of you guys step in and lend advice, criticism, etc. It's all a learning process for me as I try to get better and better at this.
But I do think its a fair statement to say the books are ignoring boxing more than they used to. Not just Oddessa - but obviously he is the main and most widely respected line setter. I see MANY MANY futures for MMA (which I know is a faster growing sport betting wise). Not only are there more MMA lines out, but they are out A LOT earlier than the boxing lines.
I think Joey is more interested in MMA. That's his choice and his right - he sets the lines. But when Quanah speaks of the inconsistencies he is correct. One week we get a random chick fight Tada vs. Ramnarine. Then the next week no line on Cazares vs. Nashiro (a big title rematch in Japan). It's surprising.
To Joey's credit, I think he tries to get everything up that he considers important. Last year, he added Angulo-Yorgey late after requests.
To balance both sports is a lot of work - I get that.
We are all grateful for whatever lines are offered each week. Life is good.
By the way, the more I watch it, the more I agree with you. BJ Penn got fucked. Just can't see Edgar taking 3 rounds there. Cost me HUGE.
Good luck this weekend everyone. Screw Kermit Cintron.

Fair enough post. 1 of the bigger issues online for the American books is in large part if Joey don't make the line it don't get made. I don't see anyone hurrying to put up the Cazarez fight. In fact just the opposite. Believe me the Japanese type fights I always love to see listed. However when 1 person is doing so much work you are going to have inconsistencies here and there. Especially when as you mentioned there's so many different MMA and boxing cards. You and I are on the same side of the counter I just try to be more understanding than most people.
LOL, well like I said I hate BJ Penn. I want him to lose and lose badly but I just don't think he lost that fight.
Nice brother, I like when we're in the same boat. The under on the Margarito fight is interesting...Both straight forward guys aren't they. Sell me...
I think 5dimes will have props for it
HBO televised main event - I would be surprised if they didn't.

Garcia has terrible defense. He is very easy to hit because of slow feet and lack of upper body and head movement. Also, he is very wide with his punches and squares up on his opponents which makes him open for counterpunches. His style is just the type of opponent Maragarito looks good against... a plodder that will consitently come forward and exchange punches. Garcia has good power and wins most of his fights by forcing his opponents to fight going backwards. He then walks then down until he lands a big punch. This will be a great fight to watch and I see Margarito's higher punching volume being the separating factor in these fighters. Also, Margarito is fiending to get back in the ring and he knows he has to make a statement that he can still get the KO without the plaster of Paris in order to jumpstart his boxing career again.
Btw, I like all your picks except Richard ?The Destroyer? Hall. You might be reaching a little on that one. But then again, that is why it is called it a "longshot". For your sake, I hope the old dog has one last good fight in him.
Good Luck Quanah! :thumb:
comments from some of the boxing boards:
"Cintron is gonna turn his penis inside out and he will bleed enough to purchase some tampons."
"I am sorry, but Cintron may have been working with his therapist on building up his ego and has probably
matured as a human being but when he gets hit by the hurricane-like force of P-Will he will revert back to his old ways in the ring when faced by heavy artillery."

I agree. I will be shocked if Cintron pulls this off. Pressure makes Cintron cry. Watch the cookie crumble.
