I had Fres too. I was following rbr on eastside and I could tell he just wasnt going to do enough to get a decision. With the amount of times he's been robbed I don't understand why he thought he could go to France and fight the same way he always does.

I was tempted to take Mormeck at +100 knowing how Fres fights, but I stayed away....didn't want to go against the crew and I thought Fres had an outside chance at a stoppage....very good matchmaking by Mormeck's people....Oquendo does just enough to lose every time....or get screwed

I didn't see the fight, but I'm sure Oquendo deserved a close call...same thing against Holyfield and Toney....sorry fellas....

I didnt see it but from the sounds of it Fres got a french fvcking. The guy doing the rbr said he was being generous to Mor and he had it 6-4 fres...dude at boxrec had it 7-3 Fres...didn't lose a bundle but was hoping for a bounceback after a rather BLOODLETTING DAY on the stock market...:sadwave: :sadwave: :sadwave: ...got murdered there.

Every time the best crew on the planet is on the wrong side they sure start to wine. "OOooo poore me, the bad judges stole my money". But when you are wining, "OOOoooo I'm so great, I knew the judges would give it to my fighter". Come on best crew on the planet, shape up.....:director:

At Georges Carpenter Hall in Paris, France, former cruiserweight champion Jean-Marc Mormeck (now 35-4, 22 KOs) continued his surprising way up in the heavyweight ranks with a mind-boggling and highly controversial ten-round unanimous decision over WBA #10, IBF #11 and WBC #17 ranked Puerto-Rican Fres "The Big O" Oquendo, who now drops to 32-6 with 21 KOs. Shorter, smaller Mormeck (who stands just 5'11 1/2'') tried to engage bigger and higher Oquendo in close quarters but the Boricua moved well in the first and used his right hand to shake Mormeck with crosses and uppercuts on his way in.
....
In round nine, Oquendo started to apply more aggression to his fading opponent. In the final stanza, the Puerto-Rican heavyweight went after Mormeck and was close to getting a stoppage win in the end. This, however, wasn't enough as all three judges voted for the local crowd-pleaser. Boxing Scene saw it otherwise 98-92 - for Fres Oquendo - in what can easily be claimed a robbery by team Oquendo.

Scores were 96-95 (twice) and 96-94 - for the Frenchman.

I don't think it was that stupid, betting on Oquendo. If there was a rematch, the odds would be even once again. If Moremeck just suck a little more, the judges simply can't give it to him. But I do think it is stupid to talk about bad judging, when it comes to betting on boxing. Everybody thinks about the bad judges before laying money on a fight. It's a huge aspect when betting on boxing, we all know that....

if it were indeed 2 french judges, that would be a little odd...

and the promotional aspect of the event...combined with oquendo`s history of losing close...

it was a legit brainfart,imo...the derision you aimed at "me "was deserved...i f-ed up..

thankfully,it was just a flesh wound...more embarrassing than hurtful...

Chill out dude. Just a slight distortion of facts there. 1st I don't recall a single poster here, sans Scott Atlanta, proclaiming "I'm so great"...perhaps a lot of celebrating but not much patting oneself on the back on THIS board. I, along with everybody else has benifitted from bad calls. Shu was the most recent REALLY bad call and myself Ghost and others stated such. Last Friday I said the George scores were "attrocious". Call it what you want but it's not whining, it's simply calling it what it is. All of us here that bet on Fres today KNEW what could happen in France and bet accordingly. As Ghost just posted, Boxingscene scored the fight 98-92 Fres. WTF are we supposed to say? It's something to learn from for future betting...no more no less.

No knock meant on Scott...Scott backs up his plays and I actually like reading the guys posts.

..the derision you aimed at the board was deserved...

Come on GW, don't be so down on yourself to give this guy a pass. The point he's been making was made on this board a lot of times in the past. Nothing new. He is just acting wise on the guys that lost a bet and it was uncalled for.

i agree...i was basically kicking myself...wasn`t intending to insult the rest of you guys....

it was a very small parly wager...and i have a vivid memory regarding what i thought was a solid oquendo performance vs toney....

i basically slept on the other considerations....

i don`t mind taking a little heat when i think i deserve it...

It wasn't that bad of a bet. You got -115 on the guy who won 8-2 or 7-3, almost KOed the guy and got screwed on the scorecards. It is impossible to know what kind of treatment the guy will get on foreign turf. This game would be easy if you could go and blindly put the money on home fighter.
You can't win 'em all.
