i see a low work rate oliver mccall following around timur

that's just my guess

Wait until the weight-ins to place action. McCall can be very inconstient now because of injuries (in his past we all know the mental instability which seems to be okay now as far as his focus in the ring) Too bad the drugs can control him outside the ring. Also, Timur has a very slow workrate too even for heavyweights.

Good Call Quanah!

Good Call Quanah!

So no line on El Hadak-Kracik from France today, but I wanted to post my take before the result came in. Kracik with more glossy record, and these two fought to a 6 rd draw in Kracik's backyard. This time though, I see El Hadak winning clearly. Check this stat out... Hadak is 19-8-1. But he is 0-8-1 on the road, and 19-0 when he fights in France. Kracik on the other hand, seems to be slipping, including a recent maj. win over a 3-14 fighter. A line was doubtful, but even if Hadak was -200, I would've gone large on him today. Let's see how it pans out.

Hadak decisions Kracik

Rachid El Hadak (20-8-1, 7 KOs) of France unanimously decisioned Roman Kracik (31-4-1, 17 KOs) of Czech Republic over 12 rounds to win the vacant European Boxing Association (EBA) cruiserweight title. Scores were 120- 108, 119-109 and 118-110. The two fought to a draw back in 2008 in Kracik?s native Czech Republic. The event took place at the Stadium P. Maisonniale, Saint-Etienne in Loirre, France with Herve Jacques promoting and Christel Aujoux matchmaking.

We woulda been rich Brother...at least a hundred bucks richer :142smilie. Hadak wins 12 rder 117-112 according to boxingscene.

I guess it was a fairly predictable result. Let's see if we can get it anyway this weekend!!

Weekend plays

Weekend plays

McCloskey-Lauri UNDER 9.5 (-105) - medium Everytime Lauri has fought a higher calibur of fighter - Kirakosyan, Witter, Hatton - they have made short work of him. Two wide dec. losses to Ted Bami look bad too. Lauri is out of his depth here. I think McCloskey has got championship potential. He is starting to settle down on his shots a little better too, ko'ing his last 3 opponents. Nice hometown fight for McC, and I think he will want to make a statement as he moves on toward real contenders. TKO6.

Richie Mepranum (+155) - medium Mepranum seems to be maturing into a pretty slick boxer. Pacquiao, who is a co-promoter, made the trip to Mexico for the fight, so I suppose that says something...I'm not sure what? Miranda is dangerous no doubt, but he is a straight ahead banger...which seems to be the exact kind of fighter that suits Mepranum. He showed this when schooling the raw undefeated slugger Hernan Marquez. Miranda is a better version of Marquez, but if Mepranum can deliver this type of performance, I think he soundly outpoints Miranda, who has been widely outboxed before.

Mepranum also seems to have a great chin, which could be very important here. Somehow, the Mexican location doesn't make me nervous like the Tamara situation. Mepranum has boxed in Vegas and Texas, against three Mexicans in a row actually, and seems to have the proper ties. This is neither a hometown fight for Miranda. If Miranda doesn't catch him early, Mepranum wins going away. 117-111.

Brian Vera (+1000) - medium rare I went a little bigger than I planned here, because I think this line is off, so took a shot on a big payoff. Demers W10 is the most likely result no doubt, but I think Demers is vulnerable. He has been down and ko'd. He actually lost to D.Miranda, not a draw like I mentioned earlier. Plus, that sob Vera owes me. He was a major parlay killer for me against Andy Lee.

Good luck guy's!!

Hey Matt,

Curious to hear your take on why you think this one will go under.

Same here. I took the over. If Iribe goes 12 with prime Sosa then I don't see Calderon getting him out. Calderon is talking KO but I don't give it much credit. If the fight is in PR then I wouldn't hit it. Matt sees something we don't...good luck.

I'm on the MC/Lauie under as well for the same reasons. The Hungarian looks rather ordinary to me and in some of the clips I watched, he got buzzed by some much lesser fighters. I don't think Laurie will be able to handle the tempo. Did you catch Macs ko of Bustos? That was a beauty of a body shot.

Hey Matt,

Curious to hear your take on why you think this one will go under.

Ivan cuts too easy now to go 12 rounds and he has lost a step in his footspeed. Jesus Uribe has a very rough type of style that could potentially deliver that cut. Uribe leans in with his head first, mauls inside, and throws an occasional elbow when the ref is on the other side. Uribe should be able to cut off the ring and get close to Calderon because of his longer leg span. That kind of constant pressure has caused cuts on Ivan. Calderon's last three fights have been stopped because of his big cuts. I don't usually bet a cut, but in this fight I see a good possiblity of one. At 35, repeated cuts don't heal as quick and I see one reopening again on Saturday with Calderon winning a techinical decision around 7-10.

Good Luck Guys!:00x2

11.5 is a long way to go, that's for sure. I don't like betting over on this number. A cut is a distinct poss. with Calderon, especially with Iribe's mugging style. I actually think Iribe is a bit live here. I've seen him a few times, and he is a tough dude. A bit straight ahead and limited, the type Calderon should be able to outbox...but if Calderon has lost a half step? I'm sniffing a tough fight for Calderon.

Win or lose, that's some solid homework. I noticed a nasty scar around the rt eye of Cald @ boxingscene. Looks like a prior cut that never fully healed...who knows:shrug:. I still think this goes rds but not willing to bet 11 1/2...too long for too many things to happen. I essentially bought it back. Good luck.
