It's a little early, but this is an interestng matchup. Cotto has seen the better opposition overall, but Clottey has proven to be a very tough opponent. The line is leaking up on Cotto so it would seem Clottey would be a better than 3-1 dog by fight time. A live dog. Leaning Clottey. Also, I have sworn off listening to the numbnuts here giving me "inside" info on training habits and such of fighters training in Vegas. Dawson I was told was getting "gassed" after 6-7 rounds. Did'nt look it to me!!! I feel like a idiot thinking these jerks actually knew something.

It may go even higher, as Cotto has the name, but we know Clottey plays the game! I think this is an overlay by around 3 bucks. Cotto, if anything, shoild be a -150/175 chalk. Cotto could win on points, but I feel we have a nice value with Clottey none the less.

I got Clottey at +300 when the line opened. I figured it wouldn't get any higher than that...I mean why would it? I don't see why Cotto should be such a huge favorite. Granted I think he is slightly more likely to the win fight, but only slightly.

Outgunned, if, Clottey doesn't turn in an extraordinary effort, which can happen. Clottey kept "plaster hands" Margarito at bay for 12 rounds, so who knows?

Cotto has been severely hurt in several fights, out on his feet hurt, and most of those fights were at 140. Clottey can crack a bit at 147, why is it a forgone conclusion that Cotto can take his best shot?

At 3-1 odds I'm willing to pay to find out...

Clottey has solid value at +300 or thereabouts. It should be a close fight. Clottey has taken less punishment in his career, has the better beard and defense. And he's a very strong welter. If Cotto does win, I think it will be by decision. Dangerous fight for Cotto.

i don`t think that clottey is a big puncher...he`s busy...and technically sound...but he`s mostly an arm puncher...

who knows what margarito took out of cotto?...i don`t begrudge anybody taking those odds...but balls to the wall,i think cotto`s favored with good reason...

Agree with Ralphie K.; if Cotto wins it's by decision. Lets not forget Clotteys workrate; man is a machine. The odds I still say are way off and I agree with boxie; an overlay on the puppie so the value is represented. Main draw to Clottey for me is that the man is no slouch. I have wasted $ on rag-pickers before and it pains me doing so. Nothing aganist Cotto, but I just appreciate Clottey's style and energy.

Clottey's got that rock dome and tough as nails, but he does slap with his punches a bit and you can't say he's heavy handed, I think he's had a few hand problems. A huge welter he is. What did he weigh in the ring against "Chico" after a 149 weight in....170? I think he has to conserve some energy in the ring these days.

Clottey's very strong, but IMO he's neither a big puncher nor someone who throws tons of punches.

Cotto will have his hands full with Clottey of course, I'm really looking forward to this fight!

tattoo angle

Naturally, this may sound deranged, but I notice when guys, after having been around and fighting for a while, start getting more TATTOOS, they start losing!!!! Cotto is sporting some addtional body illustrations it appears. There may be some exceptions, but excessive tats, except for MMA/UFC guys is a fade opportunity. Therefore, I will up my bet on Clottey. Word.

Yeah, it's like he got those tats after the Margarito loss to make for something (the loss). There may be some kind of psychological component with all the tats - to compensate for some lack self belief.

People do wacky things after a loss. I knew a guy in the late 80's that was undefeated and was KO'd by a oft beaten but very rugged journeyman in front of friends, wife et al. The first thing he does after the loss is have an affair on his wife and leave the damn used condom in the bedroom. Still married but she turned from complete sweetheart to a jaded, angry women. Obviously, some kind of wacky macho BS but it wasn't helpful in his life.

Once that feeling of invincibility is lost, some of these guys don't now how to handle life. Damn...sad story there. But you see it often with fighters.

Cotto says his camp is going great. Mybe it is. We shall see the truth soon....
