Cotto/Foreman

Cotto/Foreman

Arum will come out smelling like a rose in this one no matter what happens. I don't think either fighter is close to being the top dog @154 but Arum has still sold it and it has pretty huge significance. Arum would not allow either guy to be in the same arena as Martinez, Kirkland, PW or Dzin. If the fight is competetive then both fighters will remain marketable. Should he lose, Cotto can always claim 154 was too high and go back to 147. Should Yuri flop then Cotto has numerous options on the table....Chavez/Duddy winner, rematch w/PAc and/orMargo. All things being even I believe Arum wants Yuri to prevail and it's just my belief that if the rds are close then Yuri will get the nod. Yuri has more star potential at this point. I'm surprised at the lack of press (maybe because I'm on the wst cst) but I think this fight is hugely significant. Yuri is an Israeli Jew studying to be a rabbi. The sky will be the limit should he prevail. I see it as a 50/50 fight but believe Cotto is small, faded and worn enough to allow Yuri to get a close nod on the cards.

"SES heavyweight contender Timo Hoffmann had chosen to prepare for upcoming fight in the rural atmosphere near his hometown of Aschersleben. This Friday the ?German Oak? will return to the ring in Aschersleben after takng a year off as he took time to enjoy his fatherhood."

Big comeback. Can't wait for Timo and Kretschmann to get it on.

@Romi
Why do you think that Arum wants Yuri to win?
Cotto is a huge draw, he has a very crowdpleasing style, etc....
Neither can be said of Yuri!
IMO this is a very important questio, as this fight could be very competetive.

BTW, there is an interesting interview on fightnews with Arum, Cotto and Stewart.

White, Undefeated, Jewish Rabbi, Champion =$$$$$$$s

He can be famous the world over. Demitry Salita was getting unbelievable accolades and Salita was/is a total tomato can. I don't think Yuri is the real deal by any stretch but he is a pretty decent boxer and he is VERY marketable. Cotto had his day in the sun and is clearly on the decline. Even if he wins, his days are numbered. If Cotto doesnt get beat up then he'll still be able to land one big fight but he's not going to stick around and fight all the top dogs. One more brutal fight for Cotto should pretty much spell the end for him.

Arum knows how to protect and market fighters like no other promotor. Yuri can make good money fighting pretenders before having to step up and fight the true top dogs of the division. Arum will make him millions before he has to do it. I don't make any claims to know it all but I believe I can see the writing on the wall and that's just the way I see it.

Cotto-Foreman

Cotto-Foreman

There are other fights that are more appealing, and I will pretty much leave this one alone, but I think Cotto beats Foreman here. Everything said about Cotto seems right, taken some beatings, moving up in weight again, much smaller than Foreman and I think he is on the decline... but still has enough here.

I don't think that much of Foreman. He seems to be getting alot of credit for his win over bloated David Santos, but Santos was just a shell. He was in deep against Tsurkan and Anthony Thompson. He is improving I'm sure, but I think his lack of strength will be telling here. I see Cotto being able to get inside and pound the body. Cotto too aggressive, and I could see him actually scoring a late rd tko.

Weekend picks

Weekend picks

3 par - Martirosyan, Alcoba, Wolak (+105) - large Alcoba is a good under the radar fighter, while Michi Munoz is not. Alcoba has apparently shown great improvement the last couple of years. Munoz just an opponent here... Wolak should be too resiliant for Moore... Martirosyan would seem to be the most difficult leg here. Folks may be just a bit down on him based on Ouma fight, but Kassim really came to fight that night. Before that Mart was dominating people. Greene was a good amateur, Mart a great one. Greene has been relatively protected as a pro, and has not always looked that great. I think Mart's straight and sharp punching will be enough to keep Greene confused. I see Vanes winning this fight clearly.

No surprises otherwise... I think Sylvester looks good in Germany...because it's in Germany, and also because Karmazin has the look of a shot fighter. I will include him small kind.

Also think Aydin and Cunningham are solid parlayables, but I chose to go with Alcoba and Wolak. Jo Jo Dan seems a good boxer, but now he's adding weight against a very strong Aydin - plus fight in Turkey. Cunningham should win - now promoted by Universum as well - but I think Ross will have his moments.

Couldn't resist to go small on a 5 par with Mart, Wolak, Alcoba, Sylvester, and Cotto @ +300

good luck fellas!!

I'd be curious to see a line on the ESPN prelim: Galarza vs. Solomon.

If anyone sees that line let me know. Thanks. Also possibly out there:

I. Berry vs. R. Caballero
M. Gesta vs. O. Meza
E. Cherry vs. I. Terry
YP Hernandez vs. Z. Page
O. Platov vs. G. Oloukun
H. Camacho Jr. vs. D. Dalton

all fairly competitive fights... I'd love to see Page rough-up safety-first Hernandez.

FIGHT CAMP 360? EPISODE 6
http://sports.sho.com/browse/video-portal.html?id=87663245001

love Kessler's trainer, Jimmy Montoya, during the Froch fight.

"You the fuckin man tonight!"
"Now go get me that title !"

:mj06:

and Froch's BS about the fight being a Denmark decision and "if it was in Nottingham, Kessler knows he would have lost"

Rubbish. Trash. Crap.

Kessler outpointed him fair and square.

On my Super Six scorecard, Carl Froch has ZERO wins, 2 losses

@Romi:
I'm asking you because its hard for me to get a real feel on the situation! Thanks for the info!

Are there so many jewish boxing fans?

In the interview on fightnews, I thought Arum sounds like he wants Cotto to win, but maybe thats because he was interviewed alongside Cotto and Stewart...

Could not resist.

Troy Ross over Cunningham at +425.

I think Cunningham wins on points but it won't be easy and these odds are out of whack.
