Lets make a thread on all the sportsbooks that go up with my intellectual property and odds after I open....
10 years ago no one offered anything on boxing and certainly not MMA. I offered UFC 1....in New York in 1993...was 1st to go on Don Best Sreen with the numbers...Danny Sheridan who is my buddy..went on TV ...UFC...and got paid real money to do it......with my offshore numbers...and i never asked for penny or saw one though was acknowledged on broadcast.
I starved for long time. Quit a 75k year job in 2000 because I thought there was future in Boxing and MMA betting because of the internet...and blieved in it.
Turned down a deal with biggest TOUT in the entire World because I knew I could win more bettting my own stuff than selling my plays.
I have about .001 % respect for touts/marketers.
If you now the right side... bet it.
2. I wont open early for simple reason that other books copy....and people dont even respect the work that goes into it and play at the places that actually originate the numbers. They wait on their coppy paste books. And now the ones that do originate dont offer a limit worth getting out of bed for in 2010...
So as much as I think GH is great guy..great writer..and so on...
..no tiissue box here for anyone.
People , touts, players , and people that work at other sportsbooks actually have the nerve to send me emails all time asking for this bout or that bout..so they can try and make money. I dont see their names at bottom of my paychecks...
Make your own numbers....take 500-1k a bet..and I'll bet you for crying out loud.
Many sides to this debate and sure will get blasted..but frankly I dont need pats on the back or the touts money.
I'm just stating facts.
I knew this day was coming when someone would copy/paste his work. And day will come when he goes 0-3 and they blast his work becaus ehe is charging. Its part of the biz. Ur only as good as ur last win or loss.
Intellectual property is a joke on the internet. Ask Phil Steele..who had history of kicking ass with his football plays that got regularly posted at major wager.
He charged alot more for his and they won a GOOD BIT more.
Afgain this is nothing personal against GH or any other guy trying to make a living ....but shit..I know Ghost Kid listens to my weekly TV and RADIO FOR FREE reads my twitter and damn...If he isnt up 100 units at maybe 2 units a play off the stuff I threw out there FREE in past 16 weeks...somethings wrong..
I stopped reading Jerry Capeci's Gangland when he started charging.
If you have a great product or opinion bet it. The limos are waiting to pick you up.

Thanks for the nice post. I know that setting lines isn't easy. When I did an exclusively free service I often set lines in advance of yours, as you might remember, but we always seemed pretty close in the way we saw things, sometimes one of us had a line closer to the actual result than the other. I always regarded my odds as "Graham's odds" and yours as "official" odds and tried to make that distinction when previewing fights.

I look on the subscription part of the site as something I hope will be entertaining and informative, not so much a "Bet on this" type of site. Obviously I'd hope to guide players to a winner here and there that they might not have otherwise had, but most of the subscribers seem to be players who know what they are doing and just want a second opinion, or are looking for something they may have missed when doing their own research. I am NOT going to get rich off this, obviously, but it is something I enjoy doing.

I mentioned to mayorga fan that its going to be unfortunate when one day monday morning Qbs come in and bash you after a down week. It happens.... my openers are often called 'moronic' , weak, dumb'...to name a few.

Imagine a year of gaming as a year working on a golf course scraping the pond for balls. Therwe are 600 balls a year. 400 green, 200 red. By years end..u will get the 400 greens (winners) and unfortunately the 200 reds(losers ) still have to come out of the pond. If you miss 1 weekend of work somene may pull 40 of ur greens. In same respect...you may pull 30 reds in a row..and open urself up for harsh criticism.
The pats on the back are few and far between and like you said its no way to get rich unless your betting them all urself and betting them all.
Last week I swept the UFC and had someone posted that I didnt think Junior Dos Santos was the future...and that i was clueless etc... That was the best they had for me after JDS crushed his opponnet. I simply said I would pass because he was unproven and if a gun was to my head I couldnt lay the favorite. Of course it was sour grapes. And I neer said run outv and bet the dog...
I would have made a post had someone came out and made remarks about you charging now had you gone on a bad run. People's memories are short and you have to have thick skin and maturity...two things I work on daily and do my best not to read forums untill aftre the fights ...but have a long way to go on the thick skin... and you have had some great insight and maturity over the years.
I dont charge simply because I bet at this point and at this stage it would kill the number I was sooking to grab IF I gave subscribers a fair shake to get down at the same odds.
If u recall years ago....I did reach out to you because I felt you were tremendous writer and dedicated to what you do. Not to mention you have a few years on me and a wealth of contacts at ur disposal which is key if you can dicipher the good from the bad info, but you were already locked into a deal.
I hope it works out and you dont lose the respect people had for you before.
Its a tough world out there and lets be honest..most gamblers are leeches and its a 1 way street.
I wish you the best of success in the venture and even if it doenst work out, you have my contact info. Your content is valuable and an asset to any site.

Both Joey and Graham get paid to be involved in something I think they love and are good at.
They already have 98% of the world beat and I must admit, I envy them a little :0074
They also took chances in life to get were they are and most people don't have the balls to do that :0008

but this is the real world....and when people pay you to pick winners(lets not pussyfoot around,that`s what people are paying for),you`re gonna take some flack if you don`t win more than you lose....

I think the biggest concern for all of us is that the winning and losing selections aren't balanced out. That is, instead of, say, 10 winners and five losers in 15 bets placed, the losing selections all run together, 15 losses in a row.
I think I have made it clear that anyone can cancel at any time. If people aren't happy, I have no problem giving them a refund, but you are right, GW, there are people in this world who are extremely sore losers, and I am under no illusions about this.
We'll see how it goes. So far so good, but it is early days.
