Thx Quanah. It's an even hund for a 1 person hopper pass per day :scared ... there's 3 of us so the trip will cost 1k+ or thereabouts for 2 days so I'm looking at a few fighters to contribute. I have a few in mind but will wait til the odds come out. I don't mind paying for a little bit of it but i do think some of these fighters are obligated to pay for a good share of it.

7 yrs ago I thought HOLY would pay for the entire trip for 6 of us but Toney shocked me and kod Holy. Fortunately Klit knocked Brock the puck out the next night to avoid total disaster but I do think Toney might have to make some amends for that one. We'll see. Good luck this week :toast:

correction: Brock fought Klit in 06 and Klit paid for some of that trip.

I had Holyfield sizeable in that fight too!

Toney...hmmm.... Maybe a little irony there. :SIB

Kessler out of Super Six

WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler has suffered an eye injury that will force him out of the Super Six tournament it was announced today at a press conference in Denmark. According to the Ekstra Bladet, Kessler stated he was seeing double. Doctors told him he must take a nine month break from boxing.

I wondered if something was wrong with Kessler in this tourney...it just seemed as though he had lost something!

Now, I'm really anxious to know who will replace him. Bute!? :0074

Super Six is all but falling apart. Withdrawals, postponements, a whacked points system with a bonus for a knockout... It's just too hard to keep these guy's on a schedule, and organize a tournament over this long a time frame. Learning from this, I think if something like it is tried again, they should go with an eight man field and just have a single elimination tourney, that's it.

I've long thought that in order to crown a 'real' champion in each division, they should just have this type of single elimination fight-off.

I was going through the rankings, looking at this idea a little more. Most divisions have 10 or 12 guys who could justly be included in an eight man fight-off. What they could do, is have preliminary fight-offs to see who qualified for the eight man field.

Now, I understand that this will never happen, but from a fan perspective it's fun to think about. One division where I found eight clear candidates was at bantam. How's this for an eight man field to determine the true champ:

Vic Darchinyan
Fernando Montiel
Hozumi Hasegawa
Yohnny Perez
Abner Mares
Anselmo Moreno
Nehomar Cermeno
Joseph Agbeko

Looking at Light Heavy, it's actually a pretty deep division.

IN
Bernard Hopkins
Jean Pascal
Chad Dawson
Tavoris Cloud

Then there's:

J. Braehmer
Z. Erdei
D. Green
B. Shumenov
G. Johnson
N. Cleverly
C. Henry
G. Campillo

These guy's have a fight-off to see who's in...

Would make for some fantastic fights, the best possible, and also be much needed medicine to revitalize boxing!

Daniel Ponce de Leon vs. Antonio Escalante added to the Sept. 18th Mosley-Mora PPV card. Great fight!

@Quanah
I would prefer a 8 or 4 man tourny (like that middle weight tourney with Hopkins and Tito) as well.

IMO 3 preliminary bouts are too much! Every competetion that last that long is prone to be affected by withdrawals, postponements or whatever!

Another very important aspect is the health of the participants. The two finalstis actually have to fight 5 times without any tune-ups against the cream of the cream.
Taylor wisely withdrew, but he actually should have never had the option to continue...

Maidana and Corley look....strange!?!

Good point Zerwas about fighting so many top level opponents in a row. That's another variable that makes these tournaments so difficult.

I beg to differ... take a look at the instant replay Romi, he was going for it! Not the kind of video one should be inspecting while at Disneyland my friend.

On "Talking Boxing with Billy C" today (its a New York radio show) host Billy C said someone inside the Dirrell camp all but admitted to him Dirrell bailed out against Abraham

He said the camp was basically laughing about pulling a fast one days later

I don't know if its true, but everyone gave me shit that night when I said Dirrell was acting

would love for those two to rematch

I was with you on that one :toast:
I just don't like that cat Dirrell, all the talent in the world, not much between ears and never keeps his mouth shut.
