"the bunker"
curious as to why there appears to be bailey sentiment on the board..not saying urango should be the fave..it`s a hard fight to break down as far as taking a side definitively...........

he`s fighting another pocket banger....a little shorter, but younger and a lefty with an iron chin and some power....and so far in their respective careers, bailey`s chin is the one that has cracked(albeit not all that often).....urango has problems with speed and busy fighters(actually both do)....doesn`t appear thats either guy`s thing...bailey might be the better technician.....

haven`t seen a line(and really don`t have a clue as to who would be favored)...
opinions?...

this is a stellar espn card(coupled with cloud and woods)....

btw,welcome aboard,quanah...

Welcome to the site. Common sense and discipline are key. NOBODY can pick em all and those that claim to are full of sht. Nothing is a "lock" and based on what I read D Jimenez was fortunate to get the win with 5 seconds to spare. I was with you on that wager but nearly bought it back with a hedge. I'm also on Huck and perhaps he "should" win but the argentinian is one tough strong sob. I was on Ali with good plus odds and heard that fight was very close. I think if Huck stays on his feet, he wins. I have 2 fairly large wagers this week and Huck is one of them. Good Luck!

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, I read that the Jimenez fight turned out to be much tougher than I anticipated. You are right, in boxing nothing is a lock. If U. Antillon had won for example...

So Romi, since I've been reading in you've really been kicking asss... I had similiar picks for a few weeks in a row, did well, then deviated last week...and got my asss kicked. You're definiately on a roll, and I've noticed you do keep it simple...well done.

Urango vs. Bailey

Urango vs. Bailey

This is a tough one to call, maybe a good one to stay away from. Some guys I like to go on, some not... I have won with Bailey a couple times, lost with Urango, so my idea would be to go with Bailey, but...

Urango is strong at JW, and back there after his ill-advised fight with Berto. Bailey has been on a roll, but he has never beaten anyone as good as Urango. Taking the form line into account, Bailey lost a decision to Ngoudjo, whereas Urango steamrolled the same figher. But I can't see Urango being 'too strong' for Bailey.

Who will be sharper on the night? My guess is that Bailey will be just a little quicker and more focused...Urango may be sluggish after coming back down in weight, and fighting a 'lesser' fight.

Bailey, do I dare say by decision... It is possible but I think he will, at some point, tag Urango, have him dancing a wobbly jig, and get the TKO.

I guess Urango will be the favorit and I dont see Urango getting stopped in this one, but I will probably stay away.

Both WBO Cruiserweight Champion Victor Emilio Ramirez (15-1, 12 KOs) and challenger Marco ?Captain? Huck (25-1, 20 KOs) are brimming with confidence ahead of their clash at Halle?s Gerry Weber Stadium on Saturday night. ?I will win early,? Ramirez predicted during today?s press conference. ?Huck is a strong opponent, but I will not allow anyone to take the title away from me. I have worked very hard to become champion and I will take the belt home to Argentina.? Huck would not allow himself to be provoked. ?All that matters is a victory,? he stated when asked about his thoughts of knocking Ramirez out. ?All my life I have been working to become world champion. I have learned from the loss against Cunningham. This is my second chance. I am a better, a more mature fighter. I have dedicated my whole life to this chance. I will make the most of it on Saturday night.?

Huck will be counting on the ferocious home support of the fans in Halle (Westphalia), which is just ten miles from his home city Bielefeld. ?I know the Gerry Weber Stadium from all the big tennis events with the likes of Roger Federer. It has always been my dream to fight here. I will not disappoint my fans.?

Good insight so far....yes I have to agree with you and Romi.
I like Huck UD or late stoppage. I don't think he will let this 2nd chance slip away.

As far as Bailey-Urango....I am definitely looking forward to watching it. But it is a definite stay away for me. Too tough to call.

Welcome Quanah! :toast:

My big bet for the week is Cloud over Woods at -175. I like William Hill as they have very big limits.

I like Huck and Urango and depending on the odds, I might parlay them. Huck is the better fighter and Urango has a tough chin to crack.

I think Woods is close to being shot. His performance against Tarver was just terrible. Soaking up punishment and not throwing any punches. Also, this fight being in America will do Woods no favours.

Good luck boys!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

I'm rather sick of losing, so to combat this problem, I emptied out my money onto the Urango/Cloud parlay. If I lose this one, I will just stop for a while, probably the year. I think Cloud is safe, and I think the main event will edge towards Urango because he has the stronger chin and better stamina. Sure, he lost big on the cards to Hatton and Berto. Is Bailey Hatton and Berto though? He definitely won't move like them, and that's what gave Urango problems. With Warriors boxing, I expect anything close to go to Urango as well. Bailey has had a nice impressive run after the Ngoudjo loss, but against who? I think once Bailey feels the power, he will be on the run and go defensive. After that, he either gets lucky with a one hit wonder or it's only a matter of time before he gets caught. If Ishe Smith, Ngoudjo and El Gato all knock you down, Urango can KO you with the same shot. None of those guys are punchers. When he has fought good punchers, he has been dropped and stopped (Cotto + Hurtado)

I also laid a few bucks on the under 8.5 (+160). In case the parlay bombs, and this hits, it gives me a few bucks for some NFL parlays. Like I said though, it's this parlay or done for the year!!!!!!

Thanks to all for wishing me in...much appreicated.

So the lines are out on Sbook. To me, there seems to be some live dogs out there. Dogs can be fun to go miniscule on, without affecting the bottom line much at all. The key is to keep them tiny, because if things go by the board, little by little can ad up. Just for the fun of it, because I'm 'keeping it simple this week stupid', I think these dogs are all barking:

C.Rivera at +500 seems off. His chin is suspect, which may be the difference in the end, but Garcia has shown limitations and may be over-hyped.

H.Honda at +400. Upsets of bloated favs seem common at the domestic level in Japan. Nakahiro probably wins close decision, but...

M.A. Avendano at +260. These guys fought to a dead heat last year, and neither has done a thing since, except get older. Japan site favors Ishida, but this one is more or less up for grabs as far as I can tell.

even Barros at +1500 over Karass. In all probability he doesn't do it, but this kid is tough, and from what I understand a hardwork learner. I can't really explain the early ko loss to the limited A.Camacho, but other than that he has always been respectable. To me, Karass seems somehow beatable. Probably not here, but Karass will know he has been in a fight. At 15 to 1 maybe worth a slight.

These are not my picks by the way, I'm just sayin' I wouldn't touch the other side of them with a crooked judge.

I'm still a little punch-drunk from last week, and so weighing me options...

Hey thanks Ghost, much obliged. Thanks for doing what appears to be alot of the dirty work in keeping this forum organized. Don't worry too much about your current little slide mon. Happens to us all. The effin' Balz fight killed me too. Whoever told you to chill it out and just go on one, maybe two 'solids' a week was on it. It's okay to ride coat tails sometimes too... Sht that's why I joined, to reason with other fight fans. Let's see what happens this week...
