No more ESPN fights for awhile (college football season).

But SKY boxing is back on Fridays, and this week they have Fury vs. McDermott and Power vs. Edmonds.

Other TV fights:
Boxrec is listing, for Friday,
Alejandro Hernandez (22-6) vs. Wilbert Uicab (25-5)
as a Telemundo show (?)

On Saturday, Perez vs. Williams is at the Playboy Mansion. In the past, Azteca has broadcast these cards. Not sure about this one.

Also Saturday, Kessler and Ward in against softies on Showtime. The Kessler fight, I am assuming, is tape delayed from Denmark.

Finally, two small PPVs Saturday. Latin Fury 11 with Chavez Jr. is going head to head against the Calderon-Mayol rematch. I know which one I will be watching. Chavez Jr. can kiss my ass. I'm not paying a penny to watch him.

One thing I can't figure out. Doesn't Arum have Chavez Jr. and Calderon? Is he involved in promoting two PPVs against each other? Weird.

Calderon is promoted by Arum in conjunction with Peter Rivera of PR Best Boxing in Puerto Rico. I guess that Rivera and Arum feel they can each get enough PPV buys to make it worthwhile, even with the shows going head to head. This is all so typical of boxing, though, to have two PPV shows on the same night. The Chavez fight isn't much, but the Nietes-Vargas and Montiel-Valdez fights on that show are interesting.

A little early to mention this but on Tuesday Sept 15, there is a pretty good card from Mexico on tv azteca. Jorge Arce, Huberto Soto, Ulises Solis and Omar Chavez are all fighting. The Arce fight looks like it could be competitive. Soto is fighting an undefeated fighter who somehow gets a crack at the title despite only 2 or 3 wins over opponents with winning records. The other 2 fights look like blowouts. Not a bad card and on a Tuesday for some reason. Nice little warmup to the big Floyd/Marquez boxing week.

According to Boxrec, there is a second big card in Mexico on Tues., headlined by Edgar Sosa and Saul Alvarez, who looks like a world class prospect. Good for Tuesday.

If they post the lines before the weekend, it's going to overload an already busy line up. Feast or famine.

I'm curious what the line will be on the Fury-McDermott fight? I think Fury has looked good, albeit against limited opposition. The kid is just 21 though, which makes me wonder if they aren't moving him just a little too fast here. McDermott is certainly no world-beater, but he is very much improved, and has good boxing skills. I imagine Fury will be a solid, perhaps even bloated favorite. What do you think, 4 to 1?

Just watched the replay of Jones/Lacy. Jeff Lacy should never put on a pair of gloves again and if he does, the commission that licences him should be shut down. The corner and/or ref should have thought about stopping that MUCH earlier. I'm not so convinced Jones is back. He looked like a million bucks because he was essentially hitting a virtual punching bag. I didn't particularly like Zags utterly dominate and embarass Jones but Jones did everything he could possibly do to humiliate Lacy. The ref should have put a stop to some of that bullshit. I'd like to see the footage of Danny Green. I don't think Jones gets by a genuine top dog. I haven't seen enough of Green to determine if he is. Having lost convincingly to Mundine, he can't be all that. I'd love to see Jones do some of that ass clowning with the likes of Dawson, Johnson, Hop or Cloud. After the beatdown he suffered from Zags, I'd hope he'd retire but now I kind of want to see him get his ass kicked again.

Bet365 has opened Fury at -800. These are inflated odds, of course, but the line managers are smart, they know which side the wagering public will want to bet and they are charging a steep admission price.

Hmm... I like the kid in the fight, but that's just too high. Thanks for the update.

As much as I can't stand Floyd, I put some bucks on Money @-350. The odds came down from my previous huge wager @-400. I just see youth, skills, speed and size prevailing here. Marquez had 3 very close fights with Casa, Diaz and John. Floyd is a level above those guys and he doesn't get hit like them. Floyd/Pac is also more marketable and that is the fight of the decade should they both win their next fights. This fight will be intriguing but I also think it could be boring...Floyd by 116-112 x3. If he's really sharp, I can see it wider. I will be shocked to see an upset.

There was some mixed reports about a Mayweather sparring session with Lamont Peterson. One report said Floyd ran him out of the ring and the other was that Lamont held his own and then some. Here's the link: http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=22079

I have to say that I think Marquez is Floyd's most formidable opponent to date. Marquez can do everything in the ring and he can handle speed - see Pacquiao. And Mayweather won't be bringing Pacman type heat. It's funny, looking at Mayweather he looks more buff than I have ever seen him - probably from his ring absence. He looks like he's got some weight to lose and it looks like he'll be shaving good weight.

What is the damn weight for this fight anyway? Does anyone know?

And I know it sounds crazy but I think Marquez can handle the weight of 145. He was a featherweight since the beginning of his career in 1993 and 20 lbs isn't a stretch for that length of time. In fact, it's probably a relief.

So the man drinks urine, we all have our peccadilloes. :mj07: :mj07: :142smilie :142smilie

Mayweather too big/strong/masterful defense to lose here. He is training like a fuking gorrila. Marquez gets a bloody nose in this one. If Marquez wants to play rough and bring the fight to PBF, it ain't going to work for him. He is a natural counter-puncher so I don't see what we'll get with the best defense versus a counter guy? Maybe they won't throw any punches at all and just wait for each other to make a move.

Match weight is 144 pounds. (At least that is what was reported in the opening 24/7, and a source confirmed this.)

Klitschko-Arreola undercard

Two heavyweight fights were added to the highly anticipated event featuring the world title showdown between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali ?Dr. Iron Fist? Klitschko and WBC #1 contender Cristobal ?The Nightmare?? Arreola on Saturday, September 26 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Fast rising undefeated heavyweight Alexander Ustinov (17-0, 14 KOs) will take on once-beaten Cedric Boswell (31-1, 24 KOs) in a twelve rounder and once-beaten Johnathon Banks (21-1, 15 KOs) will meet Javier Mora (22-4, 18 KOs) in a scheduled ten-round fight.

Ustinov vs. Boswell should be a good matchup.
Banks vs. Mora.....not so much....

Somebody PLEEEZ give me a partner so I can parlay Mayweather with a strong play. I can't/won't lay -430 on anything hence the necessity for a parlay. Poor Marquez!
