guy from espn on local radio right now:

"if you're an auburn fan. there's no real reason to be worried right now. As of RIGHT NOW, this is a mississippi state problem. It all starts and ends in Mississippi right now. Everything being talked about with Auburn at the moment is pure speculation. This is not an Auburn problem yet until something real comes out."

Supposed to be another "bomb" dropped this afternoon concerning Cam's Eligibility. Thought that ship sailed this morning but it has some serious people concerned.

If I was an Auburn fan, I would be VERY nervous about this week's game. Way too many distractions IMHO to bring your "A" game.

See I sEe it exactly the opposite. The team has one place to get away from all this bs and that's on the field. I think it motivates them and they take it out on uga. I loved uga plus nine. But I laid the smack down on au after today's developments or lack there of and got au-5.5

I totally agree Wareagle, and when the game hits the boards again........I will pound Auburn as these kids will be on a mission to control the only thing they can in this. Which is the play on the field.

if i was you i would be more worried about your team losing its best player than worrying about how yall kicked our ass by 7 pts. It doesnt matter if the trainer gained 180 yds you won by 7 plain and simple.

I never "worry" about anything that is out of my control. This situation is out of everyone's control. If it is true, then all involved with wrong doing should pay the piper. There are 69 other kids that have played there hearts out, and for them I would feel badly, and only them.

Damn if the AU-LSU game was close just b/c the margin of victory was 7.....

Then I guess the Arkansas game was a freakin blowout and never even a close game b/c we won by 22.

see what I did there?

This is interesting, pulled from Yahoo article;

In a statement, Mississippi State?s athletic department said Wednesday that it first contacted the Southeastern Conference regarding ?an issue relating to its recruitment of Cam Newton.? The statement said the SEC asked for specific information including interviews with university staffers. Mississippi State didn?t provide more information until July, citing ?time-consuming eligibility issues? related to other sports, presumably those involving basketball players Renardo Sidney and Dee Bost.

The statement said Mississippi State has ?cooperated fully? with NCAA investigators, but did not make any reference to the alleged phone calls between recruiters and the Newtons.

SEC spokesman Charles Bloom said Wednesday evening that there was also no mention of the reported conversations in either of the school?s reports to the league

So these "sources" told the SEC about this huh? :sadwave: :142smilie

Who cares?

Is it true or not? That is the only thing that matters.

Patience Trampled. The story is falling apart bit by bit. Pretty funny actually. Everything that gets reported in all these "bombs getting dropped" on the story start re-negging their BS claims 2-3 days later

I wouldnt say it's "falling apart" yet... But there have been a lot of BS rumors that have ignited but the main story is still there and yet to be determined...

Come on corley... all 3 stories have fallen apart.

1) Schlabach, Forde, and Low's article siting only John Bond and making it appear as if Bond spoke directly to the former teammate who ESPN named as Kenny Rogers. Neither Schlabach, Forde, or Low ever spoke to Rogers. They day after the story hit Bond went on Atlanta radio and said he didn't speak to the one asking for money, but that there were 2 people in between. He also claims through his attorney that he never named Rogers, and Rogers denied any wrongdoing on that Friday as well.

2) Thayer Evans wrote an article claiming Cam was caught cheating 3 times. Our very own here at AuburnSports.com talked to two people on the honor committee who say Newton never came before the board, was never scheduled to come before the board, and had he come before the board it doesn't mean he would have been expelled. They also said no player came before the committee while Urban has been there. So, if Cam actually cheated UF covered it up because he passed the classes, and was cleared to transfer by the NCAA.

3) Joe Schad reports from 2 sources who recruit for MSU that they had phone conversations with both Cam and his father. Joe admitted on Finebaum yesterday afternoon that his sources had no proof. Joe's article also said that MSU reported the referenced phone conversations to the SEC. The SEC says those conversations were not a part of EITHER report sent to them by MSU, meaning January or July.

I am dissapointed that I only see +8 out there. When I read WarEagle was able to find 5.5, I was hoping that I would find a piece of that. No such luck. Would love a middle opportunity at 6,7 and 8

You can look at like that but the fact remains that whether or not there was money involved or something illegal happened has yet to be determined... I don't think anyone should say anything until everything has been resolved...

There is little chance that several high-paid, senior journalists at Fox Sports, Yahoo and ESPN would all stick out their professional necks unless they received their info from what they perceived to be credible sources. This is, of course, just my opinion.
