Saturday's Top Action
Tom Wilkinson
Everyone has just assumed that the Golden State Warriors will win the Western Conference and roll to another NBA title. If you look at the current standings you might be surprised to see that Golden State is just barely in front of Denver for the best record in the West.
The Warriors have looked vulnerable lately and they face a difficult road test at the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night in a game that can be seen on ABC. Let?s look at Saturday?s game and NBA picks.
Golden State Warriors at Philadelphia 76ers
Date and Time: Saturday, March 2, 2019, 8:30 p.m. ET
Location: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA
NBA Odds: TBA
Warriors vs. 76ers TV Coverage: ABC
The Warriors are wrapping up a four-game road trip on Saturday night. Golden State started with a win in Charlotte, but then they were shocked by Dwyane Wade and the Heat on Wednesday. Golden State then had to face the Orlando Magic on Thursday. The Warriors are just 14-16 ATS on the road, with 19 games going over and 11 going under. They are averaging 118.9 points per game but giving up just over 112 per contest. Stephen Curry leads the team in scoring at just over 27 points per game.
Golden State is not in a great spot on Saturday, as this will be their third game in four days, but at least they did have Friday off. Golden State is without a doubt the best team in the NBA but their intensity level has been very inconsistent lately. The Warriors realize they are the best team in the NBA and they don?t always give a full effort for 48 minutes.
Philadelphia has the looks of a team that can compete with Golden State, but only if they are healthy. The 76ers have been without All-Star center Joel Embiid of late and his status for Saturday is up in the air. It was thought he would be ready for this game, but we haven?t had any recent updates. His backup, Boban Marjanovic is also injured. Embiid has been rehabbing his sore left knee, while Marjanovic has a bone bruise and a sprained right knee. He will not play on Saturday.
Philadelphia is 16-16 ATS at home this season, with 17 games going over the total and 15 going under. They are averaging 115.7 points per game and giving up just over 112 per contest.
Key Stats
Philadelphia broke a 10-game losing streak against Golden State by winning 113-104 in January. The 76ers were 8-point road underdogs in that contest that easily went under the total. The 76ers are 7-3 ATS in the last ten meetings against the Warriors and seven of the ten went under the total. The teams have split their last ten games in Philadelphia, but the 76ers have been an excellent bet, going 9-1 ATS. Six of those ten went under the total.
