**********

13) Texas A&M? Jimbo Fisher is 6-2 in bowl games; Aggies scored 52-52 points in their last two bowls, are 8-1-1 vs spread in last 10 non-league games. A&M has only 4 starters back on defense.

12) Tennessee? Volunteers haven?t gone bowling since 2016; they won last three bowls, scoring 42.7 ppg. Last two years, Vols are 3-11 vs spread at Neyland Stadium. Their offensive line is expected to be much better this year.

11) South Carolina? Senior QB Bentley has already started 32 games; last two years. Gamecocks are 6-0 vs spread as a road dog. Carolina last four games with Georgia, by 32-14-14-24 points.

10) Missouri? Clemson transfer Kelly Bryant takes over at QB for Drew Lock; under Odom, Mizzou is 10-7 vs spread as a HF. Former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley is the Tigers? OC.

9) Mississippi State? Last seven times Bulldogs were an underdog, the home team covered the spread; last two years, State is 8-3 vs spread as a home favorite. New QB for MSU this season.

8) Ole Miss? Under Luke, Rebels are 3-9 vs spread as an underdog, 0-5 at home; they were 0-8 vs spread in SEC games last year. Ole Miss won four of its last five bowl games (last one in ?15).

6) Kentucky? Wildcats won 10 games LY for first time since 1977; they have only 10 returning starters this year. Last two years, Wildcats are 0-9 vs spread as a home favorite.

5) Georgia? Dawgs won 10+ games five of last seven years; they?re 13-6 vs spread in last 19 SEC games. This is first time since 1995 that Georgia opens season with an SEC game (Vanderbilt).

4) Florida? Gators have only one returning starter back on OL (24 career starts). Mullen is 6-2 in bowl games, winning last four. Florida plays Miami this year for first time since 2013.

3) Auburn? Last five years, Tigers are 9-20-1 vs spread as home favorites; LY they were 0-7 vs spread in game following a win, 4-1 after a loss. New quarterback this season for Auburn.

2) Arkansas? Razorbacks are 6-18 SU the last two years, 1-15 in SEC games (beat Ole Miss 38-37 in ?17). Arkansas brought in pair of grad transfer QB?s this year, figure to improve there.

WNBA Betting Recap - 6/11-6/17
Joe Williams

League Betting Notes (Tuesday, June 11 through Monday, June 17)

-- Underdogs went 8-6 straight up (SU)
-- Underdogs went 10-4 against the spread (ATS)
-- Road teams went 8-6 SU
-- Home teams went 8-6 ATS
-- The 'under' went 11-3

Season Totals To Date

-- Favorites are 27-18 straight up (SU)
-- Underdogs 24-19-2 against the spread (ATS)
-- Home teams are 26-19 SU
-- Home teams are 22-21-2 ATS
-- The 'under' is 31-14

Team Betting Notes

-- Atlanta (1-5 SU, 1-5 ATS) continues to struggle without F Angel McCoughtry (knee), as they have dropped five in a row since opening with a victory against Dallas (1-5 SU, 3-3 ATS). The Wings returned the favor with a 71-61 victory against the Dream as 3 1/2-point underdogs at home on Saturday.

-- The Wings have hit the 'under' in all six of their games so far, as they're averaging just 68.0 points per game (PPG), ranking 11th in the WNBA. They're also 11th in field-goal percentage (37.6 percent), 11th in 3-point percentage (26.4 percent) and 10th in free-throw percentage (76.5 percent), too.

-- Chicago (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) stumbled out of the gate at 1-2 SU/ATS, but they have rattled off three consecutive victories. The improvement on the defensive end has been the biggest difference, as they allowed 90.3 PPG in the first three games, while yielding just 70.0 PPG over the past three.

-- Connecticut (7-1 SU, 5-3 ATS) has posted five consecutive victories since their lone loss on May 31 in Los Angeles (4-3 SU, 3-3-1 ATS).

-- The Sparks have played just two home games in their seven outings, going 1-1 SU/ATS in their two games at home.

-- Indiana (4-4 SU, 4-4 ATS) has hit the 'under' in each of the past two games, their first consecutive games with an under result after opening with overs in five of their first six outings. Next up is a trip to visit the struggling Dream on June 19.

-- Minnesota (0-4 SU, 2-2 ATS) fired out of the box with a 3-0 SU mark, but they're 1-4 SU across the past five, and 0-5-1 ATS in the past six outings.

-- Las Vegas (4-3 SU, 3-4 ATS) has posted back-to-back victories for the first time this season. While they're been a bit uneven against the spread, they're a friend of total bettors with the 'under' going 6-1 through the first seven games, including each of the past five.

-- New York (3-5 SU, 4-3-1 ATS) saw their mini two-game win streak come to a close, but they're still a solid 4-3-1 ATS across the first eight outings. They have also covered four of the past five outings after opening the season 0-2-1 ATS through the first three.

-- Phoenix (2-4 SU, 2-3-1 ATS) has gotten off to a rough and uncharacteristic slow start. In the two victories, the 'over' is 2-0, and in their four losses the 'under' is a perfect 4-0. They're 1-3 SU/ATS in four games on the road, and they'll likely be heavy favorites on June 20 in Dallas in their next road contest.

-- Seattle (5-4 SU, 5-4 ATS) picked up victories in consecutive games for the first time this season in Indiana and Washington, but Connecticut slapped them back to Earth in a 14-point loss on Sunday. The under is 7-2 through the first nine outings for the defending WNBA champs.

-- Washington (5-2 SU, 4-3 ATS) has ripped off five wins in the first seven outings, and they're 0-2 SU/ATS in two games against the Sun, and 5-0 SU/4-1 ATS in five games against everyone else. The 'under' is also 2-0 in their two outings against Connecticut, and 3-2 against the other five.

WNBA Lady Luck: June 18 free picks, predictions and betting odds

Candace Parker, a two-time WNBA MVP, averaged almost 18 points per game in 2018 and adds another weapon to a L.A. offense ranked third in scoring in the league, pouring in 81.1 points per game.

There?s only a single game on the WNBA betting odds board Tuesday but it so happens to feature the return of one of the league?s all-time greats, when the Washington Mystics visit the Los Angeles Sparks for a late 10:30 p.m. ET tipoff.

We size up tonight?s odds and give our best bets and WNBA predictions in our daily "Lady Luck".

Washington Mystics at Los Angeles Sparks (-3, 162.5)

One of the biggest stars of the WNBA returns to action Tuesday night. Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker has been cleared to play after missing the start of the 2019 schedule with a hamstring injury.

Parker, a two-time WNBA MVP, averaged almost 18 points per game in 2018 and adds another weapon to a L.A. offense ranked third in scoring in the league, pouring in 81.1 points per game.

The 6-foot-4 Parker should also help improve the Sparks defense (even if she plays limited minutes), which has struggled in recent contests. Los Angeles is allowing an average of 85 points against on 42.9 percent shooting over the past four games, going 2-2 SU and ATS in those outings.

While L.A. brings back its top talent (and possibly Alana Beard, who is listed as questionable tonight), the Washington Mystics are missing some important role players. Emma Meesseman and Kim Mestdagh have been ?suspended? by the team while they participate in the Women?s EuroBasket tournament for Belgium.

Meesseman was scoring 13.3 points per contest while Mestdagh was logging more than 16 minutes per game and scoring three points per outing off the bench. Washington has undoubtedly missed them, dropping their past two games without the duo and scoring just 71 and 75 points in defeats to Connecticut and Seattle.

Los Angeles, on the other hand, has played well without Parker and Beard to start the year. The Sparks are 4-3 and 3-3-1 ATS and getting terrific work from sisters Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike as well as guard Chelsea Gray. Take L.A. to cover the spread at home tonight.

PREDICTION: Los Angeles -3

Sunday?s picks: 2-0
Season to date: 18-9

Mystics spoil Parker's return, rout Sparks
June 18, 2019

LOS ANGELES (AP) Ariel Atkins hit five 3-pointerss and scored 22 points Tuesday night to lead the Washington Mystics to an 81-52 win over Los Angeles, spoiling the return of former MVP Candace Parker to the Sparks' lineup.

Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had a career-high 17 points off the bench for the Mystics (5-3), who snapped a two-game losing streak in the first game of a four-game road trip. Kristi Toliver added 12 points and nine assists. Elena Delle Donne only made 4 of 12 shots and scored nine points for Washington but grabbed 15 rebounds.

Parker had three points on 1-of-9 shooting in 25 minutes after missing the first seven games because of a hamstring injury. Sydney Wiese and Nneka Ogwumike had 12 points apiece for the Sparks (4-4).

Parker played the first 7:43 and went 0-4 before checking out of the game with her team behind 20-3.

Atkins opened the game with a 3-pointer and after Chiney Ogwumike made a basket for the Sparks to make it 3-2, the Mystics reeled off 10-straight points. Neka Ogwumike made a free throw for Los Angeles at the 5:56 mark the Washington scored seven more and it was 20-3.

Washington led 24-10 after one quarter and 48-27 at the half, turning 14 L.A. turnovers into 23 points.

The Mystics finished 13 of 28 behind the arc while Los Angeles was 3 of 19 and had 26 turnovers. LaToya Sanders had a career-high six of Washington's 20 steals.

? Mets 10, Braves 2? Pete Alonso went 4-4 with three runs scored, three RBI.

? Will a California team win the 2020 NBA title? No -$210, Yes +$175

? Twins 4, Red Sox 3 (17)? Kepler homered to tie game, then singled to win it.

? 18 of the Derek Dietrich?s 38 hits this year have been homers (47.4%).

? France had five players taken in the 2016 NBA Draft, the record for a foreign country.

? Manny Machado got suspended for one game after throwing a tantrum over the weekend; umpires? union is miffed he was only suspended for a game.

Quote of the Day
?We have two high-level competitors, Chris and James, who their only goal in life at this point is to win the title. They?ve accomplished everything else, they are both going to be first-ballot Hall of Famers. Two competitive superstars at that level, there?s going to be times when they are extremely competitive, extremely focused on how do we get to that next level, and when we don?t there?s going to be frustration,. I?m frustrated, our top players are frustrated, Mike D?Antoni is frustrated. We want to take the last step and be the champion and I think it?s good that there is tension in the sense that we all want to win.?
Rockets? GM Daryl Morey

Wednesday?s List of 13: Mid-week musings??.

13) Washington?s best pitcher Max Scherzer broke his nose while working on his bunting during batting practice Tuesday night; he is supposed to pitch for the Nationals today, As I type this, it is unclear whether Scherzer is going to pitch or not.

Phillies-Nationals got rained out for second night in a row, so now Scherzer won?t have to pitch Wednesday so his nose can heal a little bit.

2013-18: Toronto Raptors (assistant)
2018-19: Toronto Raptors (head coach)

The man has paid his dues.

11) Josh McCown threw passes for seven different NFL teams in his 17-year career, going 23-53 as a starter; he retired this week, but should have an excellent career, either as a coach or on TV- he also signed with ESPN this week.

Only six other QB?s have thrown a pass for seven NFL teams; this fall, Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to become the first QB to throw a pass for eight NFL teams.

Playing QB in the NFL is profitable, even if you?re a backup; McCown earned $49,668,000 in his playing career, pretty good cash for a guy who won 23 games in 17 years.

10) Zion Williamson and Lonzo Ball figure to be teammates with the Pelicans next season; it was July 2017 that I saw Zion?s AAU team play Lavar Ball?s team at an adidas tournament in Las Vegas. Lonzo was sitting in the front row, watching his younger brother play.

That was the night there were so many people in the Cashman Center, when Lebron James pulled up to watch the games, the Las Vegas police told him that he could go in the building, but they couldn?t guarantee his safety in there, so Lebron left.

9) Toronto Raptors had their championship parade Monday; thousands of people jammed the streets to celebrate Canada?s first NBA championship. It was estimated that 2,000,000 people jammed the parade route.

8) US Open golf champion Gary Woodland originally went to Division II Washburn on a basketball scholarship, but transferred to Kansas after his freshman year and got a golf scholarship from the Jayhawks.

7) Angels DFA?d Cesar Puello this week; the guy hit .390 in 12 games (50 PA) and he got freakin? DFA?d. Hopefully someone will trade for him or pick him up when he becomes a free agent. He is only 28 years old.

6) College basketball transfer portal:
? Derryck Thornton bolts from USC to Boston College; he had previously played for Duke. If kids could transfer during a TV timeout, he would be a strong candidate to do it.

5) San Francisco Giants are struggling at 31-39, but they?re 17-6 in one-run games, 14-33 in all their other games. In other words, they could be a whole lot worse than 31-39.

4) Last night, my TV informed me that the batteries were low in my remote control. No idea how my TV knew that, but I paid attention and changed the batteries. Thanks, TV!!!

3) Bellarmine College in Louisville is going D-I in basketball, starting in 2020-21; the Knights will play in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

2) It must be fun to be a good player in the NBA:
? Al Horford turned down his $30.1M option from the Celtics.
? Harrison Barnes turned down his $25.1M option from the Kings.

Can you imagine turning down that kind of money? I?d be afraid to walk across the street until I signed a new contract. Guys dislike playing on a team so much that they turn down $25M to go elsewhere. Wow.

1) There is a photographer named Tom Fox who was in Dallas Monday to cover a trial; when he got to the courthouse, he saw a gunman and the gunman saw him and the police/gunmen wound up in a shootout, with bullets flying over the photographer?s head (he was hiding behind a column). Mercifully, he didn?t get hit.

The photographer got a great picture of the gunman, the gunman wound up getting killed. Sad way to start the week; imagine having the onions to snap a picture of a guy with an assault rifle who can see you and isn?t that far away? Amazing.

---------------------------------------------

Indiana Fever at Atlanta Dream (-1.5, 146.5)

It?s an early work day for these WNBA teams. The Fever limp into Wednesday having lost three of their last four, with the lone victory coming against the lowly Dallas Wings. To make matters worse, those three losses came at home.

Indiana could be without starting center Natalie Achonwa Wednesday, as she?s listed as doubtful due to a calf strain. Achonwa is averaging 11.6 points and grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game so far in 2019 and coming off a 15-point performance in the defeat to Chicago last weekend. The Fever have been terribly inconsistent on offense to begin with, and run one of the slower paces in the WNBA at 93.15.

Atlanta sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 1-5 SU mark and ranks dead last in scoring, putting up just 67.7 points per contest. The Dream have cracked the 70-point mark just once in their last four games, playing below the total in three of those four outings.

With Indiana missing a significant scorer and Atlanta?s offensive atrophy, we?re calling for a low-scoring snorer this early in the day.

PREDICTION: Under 146.5

Chicago Sky at New York Liberty (-2, 165)

The Sky are one of the hottest teams in the WNBA, stringing together three wins in a row ? and more importantly, covering the WNBA pointspreads in that span.

Chicago has come out swinging, leading the league in first-quarter points with an average of 23.1 in the opening frame. That's helped the Sky account for 41.2 first-half points on the year. Defensively, Chicago is allowing an average of 42.2 points against in the first 20 minutes of action but has significantly slimmed that down to 34.7 during this three-game winning streak.

New York, on the other hand, is giving up 20.5 points in the first quarter on the season, including a 35-point smack from Las Vegas in the first 10 minutes this past weekend. They've countered that with only 17.6 points of offense in the opening stanza. As for first-half production, the Liberty are putting up 38.4 points per outing but giving up 43.9 points against - worst in the WNBA.

The Liberty have been playing well, especially considering their slow start to the year, having gone 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four outings. However, Chicago is really finding its footing, most notably on the defensive end. The Sky have limited foes to 78.4 points per game over their last five (4-1 SU/ATS) while holding those opponents to 40.5 percent shooting.

PREDICTION: Chicago first-half +1

Tuesday?s picks: 0-1
Season to date: 18-10

WNBA Season Over/Under Betting Stats:

The O/U so far this season is 28-60-2, and on totals set at 160 or higher the O/U is 4-16.

Top Over teams:
Indiana 5-3 O/U
New York 4-4 O/U

Top under teams:

Dream beat Fever, snap 5-game skid
June 19, 2019

ATLANTA (AP) Tiffany Hayes scored a season-high 28 points, Renee Montgomery added 16 points and nine assists, and the Atlanta Dream pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Indiana Fever 88-78 on Wednesday to snap a five-game skid.

Hayes was 9 of 15 from the field and hit 4 of 6 from 3-point range. Elizabeth Williams added 10 points and three blocks for the Dream (2-5).

Monique Billings made two free throws to give Atlanta the lead for good at 58-57, Montgomery added a 3-pointer and, after Candice Dupree hit a short jumper for Indiana, Montgomery sank a layup that made it 63-59 going into the fourth quarter.

Montgomery scored or assisted on 15 of the Dream's 25 fourth-quarter points, helping them build an 11-point lead when she kicked the ball out to Hayes for a long 3 with 3:33 to play.

Dupree led the Fever (4-5) with 19 points. She hit a jumper late in the first quarter that moved her past Sue Bird into seventh on the WNBA's career scoring list and now has 6,168 career points. Teaira McCowan, the No. 3 overall pick in the March draft, added 14 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks - all season highs - for Indiana.

The Fever have lost four of their last five games.

Atlanta, which came in averaging more than 16 turnovers per game, committed just six and hit a season-high 10 3-pointers on 22 attempts.

Vandersloot scores 24 points, Sky beat Liberty 91-83
June 19, 2019

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) Courtney Vandersloot wanted the ball in her hands with the game on the line.

She scored 25 points, hitting five of six free throws in the final 37.2 seconds, to help the Chicago Sky beat the New York Liberty 91-83 on Wednesday night.

''That's how you win games. Everyone says free throws are how you win games,'' said Vandersloot, who also had eight rebounds and six assists. ''We had the people willing to knock some shots down. That's how you win down the stretch.''

The Sky led 61-56 after the third quarter and scored nine of the first 11 points in the fourth quarter to open up a double-digit lead. New York (3-6) got to 82-78 with just under 2 minutes left. Amanda Zahui B. missed a fast-break layup on one and of the court and then Cheyenne Parker was fouled with 1:31 left. She made both free throws as the Sky made 9 of 10 from the line in the final 91 seconds to seal the win - their fourth straight.

''It's good we're on a nice little run,'' Vandersloot said. ''Nice to have a couple of road wins. Came into this season confident. We knew what we had. Knew what we could be. Just a matter of proving it to everyone else.''

Parker and Allie Quigley each had 13 points for the Sky (5-2).

Asia Durr scored 19 points to lead New York and Tina Charles added 16.

Chicago led 14-10 midway through the first quarter before holding the Liberty to just one basket over the rest of the quarter. The Sky led 20-12 after the period and were up 41-34 at the half. Kia Nurse looked to have hurt her lower leg with just over 2 minutes left in the first half. She sat out the rest of the half, but started the third quarter and played most of the final 20 minutes.

Nurse brushed off the injury talk after the game saying she was fine.

''I didn't get injured today, not sure why everyone keeps asking me that,'' the second-year guard said with her left foot wrapped in ice.

HEADING OVERSEAS: Zahui B. will be joining Sweden's national team for the EuroBasket tournament. Wednesday night was her last game with New York until the tournament ends. She had 13 points and 10 rebounds . New York is already without guard Bria Hartley, who is playing with France in the tournament. Chicago is missing Astou Ndour, who is playing for Spain.

UP NEXT:

Sky: Host Indiana on Friday night.

Liberty: At Minnesota on Saturday night.

Armadillo: Thursday's six-pack

Odds to win Travelers Championship this week:

7-1? Brooks Koepka

10-1? Patrick Cantlay

16-1? Paul Casey, Jordan Spieth

18-1? Jason Day, Francesco Molinari

20-1? Justin Thomas

25-1? DeChambeau, Fleetwood, Leishman, Oosthuizen, Watson

**********

Armadillo: Thursday's List of 13: Doing some thinking out loud??.

13) Nationals 2, Phillies 0? Max Scherzer broke his nose Tuesday during bunting practice, but he pitched the nightcap of this twinbill a day later, though he looked like Rocky Balboa, with a blackened right eye.

Throwing seven shutout innings the day after you break your nose is excellent.

12) Newly-signed P Dallas Keuchel will make his 2019 debut for the Braves Friday night against Washington.

11) San Diego?s Manny Machado hit a high infield pop-up Wednesday; four Brewers stared at each other and the ball fell harmlessly to the ground between the mound and the first base line. No one touched it, so it was called a single, which drives me nuts.

How the bleep can the pitcher be penalized for that? Next guy walked, next guy hit a home run and he gets nailed for three earned runs? That rule has to change; just plain stupid.

10) Milwaukee TV analyst Bill Schroeder, who is very good, ripped Machado for not being on second base when the ball fell, which ignites a different debate.

That ball gets caught 99 times out of 100; do you want your players sprinting when there is a 1% chance of getting an extra base, as opposed to a higher chance of pulling a muscle? I can see both sides of this argument.

9) Memphis Grizzlies traded PG Mike Conley to Utah for Kyle Korver, Jae Crowder and Grayson Allen, as well as two draft picks. Conley scored 21.1 ppg LY; he played the first 12 years of his NBA career with the Grizzlies.

8) Braves 7, Mets 2? Nick Markakis had played in 240 consecutive games, longest active streak in the major leagues; he didn?t start this game, but had a 2-run pinch single in the 8th inning to extend his streak to 241.

7) Baseball stuff:
? Braves put P Sean Newcomb on 7-day concussion IL.
? Tampa Bay put 3B Yandy Diaz (hamstring) on IL.

6) Random movie/TV trivia: actress Shera Danese, who played Vicky, the 2nd hooker in Risky Business, was married to Peter Falk (Columbo) for 34 years until he died in 2011. She appeared in six of the Columbo movies, from 1976-97.

5) College basketball transfer portal:
? F Karrington Davis bolts from Nebraska to Southern Illinois.

4) Alex Meruelo, who owns the SLS Las Vegas hotel/casino, was approved to become the owner of the NHL?s Arizona Coyotes. SLS has the smallest rooms I?ve ever stayed in in Las Vegas, but it was a cool place. Good food places there.

3) Detroit Lions? QB Matthew Stafford played last season despite ?tiny fractures in his back?; he was listed as questionable in Weeks 14-16, but started all three games.

2) Lakers and Pelicans are reportedly set to complete the Anthony Davis trade July 6; had they waited until July 30 to make the deal, LA would?ve saved $9M in cap space, and that difference could prevent them from pursuing another free agent for a max contract. No bueno.

1) Told you few days ago about this terrific new book ?Then One Day? that I am reading now. Written by Chris Andrews, who runs the sportsbook at SouthPoint in Las Vegas, it is filled with stories from the gambling world over the last 40 years. An example??..

Have you ever played Keno in a casino? Keno is Chinese in origin; the guy who introduced it in Nevada casinos a long, long time ago got the idea by talking to Chinese immigrants who were working on the railroad in Montana, where the guy lived at the time.

I?ve never played Keno myself, but you always see people playing it in casinos. Knowing how it became a thing in Nevada, coming from China, is pretty interesting.

June 21, 2019
By The Associated Press

Delle Donne scored 10 of Washington's first 21 points and the Mystics (6-3) led 30-19 at the end of the first quarter. She had 16 points at the break as Washington led 51-39 after being ahead by as many as 15. Washington opened the fourth quarter by scoring the first seven points for a 79-61 advantage to put the game away.

A'ja Wilson scored 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting for Las Vegas (4-4), which had a two-game winning streak end. Liz Cambage added 14 points and six rebounds.

WINGS 69, MERCURY 54

Dallas (2-5) led by nine points entering the fourth quarter, but Phoenix (2-5) made four 3-pointers in the first three minutes to pull to 53-52. The Wings scored the next 12 points to seal it as the Mercury went scoreless for nearly six minutes.

Leilani Mitchell led Phoenix (2-5) with 12 points. Brittney Griner added 11 points and blocked four shots to move into a tie with Lauren Jackson for third on the WNBA career list with 586.

Armadillo: Friday's six-pack

Updated spreads for Week 1 NFL games:

? Packers @ Bears (-3.5, 45.5)

? Falcons @ Vikings (-4, 47)

? Redskins @ Eagles (-8.5, 46.5)

? Bills @ Jets (-3, 38.5)

? Ravens (-4.5, 37) @ Dolphins

? 49ers @ Buccaneers (-1, 49)

**********

Armadillo: Friday's List of 13: Wrapping up a busy Thursday??..

13) I?m not fond of how the NBA runs it draft; when a pick gets traded (the #4 pick got traded twice), they still have the team who originally had the pick posted as the team making that pick. It is nonsensical.

Lakers had the #4 pick; they traded it to New Orleans, who traded it to Atlanta; everyone in the damn country knows this, so post it on your graphics and announce it as Atlanta?s pick? how freaking difficult can that be?

12) One of the most interesting teams in the NBA next season will be Cleveland, since 66-year old John Beilein will be a rookie NBA coach, after having been a great college coach.

Cavaliers took PG Darius Garland with the #5 pick; he only played four college games at Vandy before getting hurt, which wound up costing his college coach his job, since the team went in the ashcan without their point guard.

Cleveland already has Collin Sexton, so maybe they foresee a backcourt like Portland?s, with McCollum, Lillard.

11) Miami Heat traded three 2nd-round picks to Indiana for the 32nd pick, then took 6-10 KZ Okpala from Stanford; this from a scout: ?Didn?t always have the defensive impact you might expect, particularly off the ball. Lacks a degree of physicality and toughness at times.?

Three 2nd round picks is a high price, so Miami must see a lot of potential.

10) New Orleans Pelicans traded the #4 pick, the #57 pick and Solomon Hill to Atlanta for the #8 and #17 picks, giving the Pelicans three first round picks.

With the #4 pick, the Hawks took De?Andre Hunter, who helped lead Virginia to the national title this past spring.

New Orleans took big guy Jaxson Hayes (Texas) and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (Virginia Tech) with the picks they got in the deal.

9) Oklahoma City took Chuma Okeke with the 16th pick; this is the kid from Auburn who tore his ACL during the NCAA tournament, so he won?t be any help this coming season, but Thunder must figure the knee will be fine. This pick was largely panned by the TV experts.

8) Gonzaga?s Rui Hachimura, Brandon Clarke both got taken in the first 21 picks, first time ever the Zags have had two first round draft picks in the same year.

7) You feel bad for kids who show up in Brooklyn for the draft and then slide down the draft board; has to be humbling. Oregon?s 7-3 C Bol Bol sat there for four hours before he wound up with the Denver Nuggets, the 44th player taken.

Bol is 7-foot-3 with a standing reach of 9?7.5, shot 52% from the arc, is an elite rim protector, averaged 21.0 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 2.7 bpg in nine games. Doesn?t turn 20 until November, but teams have questions whether he really loves basketball, which would be a serious problem.

6) Former Today Show host Matt Lauer put his Hamptons mansion on Long Island up for sale for about $44M, now that his divorce is final.

People say athletes are overpaid, and most are, but a guy hosting a 7am news show owning an estate worth $44M? Damn. Just for the record, Lauer bought the estate from Richard Gere for $36.5M in 2016.

5) Mets fired their pitching coach/bullpen coach Thursday; not sure what the bullpen coach did to get fired, unless he doesn?t answer the bullpen phone fast enough.

The new bullpen coach is Ricky Bones, who was bullpen coach last year but got the boot after the season.

4) Your tax dollars at work in the Tar Heel State:

Pinecrest HS in North Carolina lost the ACT test answer sheets for their entire junior class ? that?s everyone who took the ACT on February 20 and March 13. All 440 answer sheets.

School administrators ?have no idea? where the answer sheets are; kids will get re-tested when they go back to school this fall. Not good!!!!

3) Baseball stuff:
? Rockies put SS Trevor Story (thumb) on the IL.
? Rockies? 3B Nolan Arenado (foot) left Thursday?s game early.

2) An executive with the New England Patriots decided to leave the team after owner Robert Kraft was charged with two counts of soliciting this past winter; the guy moved on to a similar job with Houston, then created a mess when he tried to recruit Nick Caserio to join him with the Texans. That is tampering, so Caserio remains in Foxboro.

How much will all this affect Caserio?s work this season? His contract is up after the 2020 draft; will he move on to Houston then?

1) Tampa Bay Rays got permission from MLB to explore splitting their home games between St Petersburg and Montreal; the mayor of St Pete wasn?t pleased.

?I believe this is getting a bit silly. After 12 years of indecision? I am tired of the games that are being played related to getting a new stadium built.?
