52,000 seats sold in one day

http://mmajunkie.com/news/22442/ufc...ets-attendance-and-gate-records-will-fall.mma

As I have said 100's of times, Ontario is the mecca of MMA. MMA is super popular in Ontario, this proves it.

Could easily get 65 000 seats sold if Dana opens up more tickets.

Aldo and Shields will shit themselves when they walk into the cage. Both fighting :canada1, the crowd will be going insane.

This event by far will be the biggest spectacle in MMA history, it is going to be nuts:scared

Well we don't have a thread for it so I'll put it in here now but I just got down for a max bet on Shogun.

Shogun +175 7units

I'm taking a big chance that his knee will be ok which is a hard call being it's his 3rd one but this is a gift at this price. I'm not saying Shogun is a lock but I am saying at this price it doesn't get any better. I've gone back and watched all of Jones fights and I'm more convinced now than I was before that Shogun is the right bet. Jones standup is just OK. His striking isn't very good at all. He does have good kicks but nothing that will change a fight. His sprawl is EXCELLENT because of his length and the way he leans while standing. If he's taken down it will have to be from the clinch which is where Shogun excels. His take downs are very good but he hasn't been in one fight where I would consider the guy good on the ground. Vera would probably be the best but he's not close to Shogun. Some of the guys are good wrestlers but not good off their back(see Bader). Shogun is good off of his back and very aggressive.

I think the one thing we'll see early and often are leg kicks from Shogun. Jones keeps his leg very far out in front to give himself a good base but that also leaves him open for big kicks. I also expect to see the 1 2 punch from Shogun followed by his right leg kick. IMO he does this better and with more power than anyone in MMA. From there it will allow him to clinch and that's where he'll make his money.

I have more to say but figured I would post this play since I just put it in.
Could not agree more. Jones is good but the books are really sleeping on how good Shogun is. :toast:

Thong, you really need to change your avatar. Every time I come in here to see what new is going on in the MMA world I get stuck on your post and forget why I'm in here.

I think the bigger question is what will Davis' submission defense be like when he is on top

I like Davis being in this fight more than Tito. It may not be as big for UFC advertising purposes but for fight fans it's a better fight. Davis can prove a lot in this fight. I'm anxious to see how Nog's td defense comes along because he's going to need it big time.

I have ZERO interest in seeing Tito fight, so this is a huge upgrade IMO.

i totally agree with my brother......the rub is that nogueira was amazing parlay material vs ortiz.....

now i`m stuck with 2 straight bets getting shitty odds instead of 2 parlays that i loved.....

i wish parlays that were changed could be scratched...

I was kinda interested in this fight cause u knew if he lost he was gone. So whatever he had left he better use it on this night or the fat lady would have been singing.
On another note I hope Nog brings his submission game with him or have big time wrestlers finally found out how to nuetralize JU Jitz.

Sponge, I think part of the problem right now is that wrestlers have found out how to neutralize BJJ. The best example of it is Brock vs Mir. The stay very low in the guard and keep their heads down on the guys lower chest. Also think they're throwing a lot more elbows instead of punches while in guard. It makes it harder for guys to gain wrist control. It's a good thing for wrestlers but a band thing for mma as a whole. I guess it's time for BJJ to evolve now.

Lay have been thinking the exact same thing. I think it was Fitch who pointed this out about 6 months ago. One of the reasons i like him against Penn. If this was a five rounder i would be all over Fitch. U get a guy with a granite jaw who neutralizes all JU Jitz guys he faces. Problem is that in a three rounder he can get a shitty decision loss if Penn stays around long enuf. Im not down on Fitch like most guys. Last fight Fitch's standup looked night and day when he faced St Pierre. Has to even be better now. If Dana has any pull with these judges which i don't think he does, then anything close is going to BJ.

Saturday my buddies kid beat this kid Nick Pace who is on the under card of this Nog/Davis fight night card. U guys know much about him? I think it was a wrestling JuJitz type tourney. From what i hear it wasn't even close. (11-2) Im surprised Pace would take a risk (getting hurt) like this before a fight even tho it is a month away.
