There is a rule of thumb in college football that says, if you can make a strong case that either team can win a game, then the underdog is the automatic play. The choice to go with Ohio State was not quite that simple but almost. This is a game that matches schools with great football traditions, great coaches and teams that have nothing but blue-chip players through the 4th position on their depth charts. It is going to be a real battle between two evenly matched teams and I am looking for the outright upset.

Analysis: Kansas State +1.5 3 stars. I normally Nail line moves, but this one is against the public who is on UCLA, so I am not sure where this line goes. Two pretty equal teams here, the handicap really comes down to motivation and venue. Although both teams had aspirations to have a bigger Bowl Game, all reports are that K State is "UP" for this game. They should have a nice hidden HFA here in San Antonio, deep in Big12 country. Snyder is a huge coaching edge vs. Morra, AND his teams have ALWAYS been great off a loss. I see this game playing out similar to Az/Boise, where Boise was sky high and Az was down.

This is my College Football Total of the Year. I do not see a high-scoring shootout between these two teams. Neither team has played in over a month and I think that is going to hurt their offensive execution. The 'under' is 4-0 in Arkansas State's last four bowl games and that is a trend I see continuing. They have a streak of seven straight games going 'over' the total. But the oddsmakers know that. And they have posted this total higher than any of those seven games were. Toledo is 1-3 ATS in its last four games overall. They have had an inconsistent offense all season long. The 'under' is 5-2 when Toledo plays on a neutral site and the 'under' is 11-3 when Toledo plays a team with a winning record. The 'under' is 22-7 in Arkansas State's last 29 nonconference games and the 'under' is 27-11 in Arkansas State's last 38 games against a team with a winning record. This is the only bowl game on this day and the last football game of the weekend. The public is going to want to chase on the 'over'. But I will stay on the sharp side and call for this one to go 'under'.
