It would appear Seattle would win if Buff wins by 3 or more. A tie would benefit Seattle.

Looks like worse case scenario he finishes in 2nd place.

What does second place get (before taxes)?

What does first place get (before taxes)? Asides from the Chipwich's of course.

Nolan just updated this:
Adding Info (Update):

OPPONENT’S PICKS

I don’t want to create false hope, but if TICKET #3 can sweep and go 4-0 on remaining picks, we likely will win BOTH contests. That’s $275,000.

We don’t just need to post wins, we also need the contestants above us to lose. Here’s the breakdown:

MAIN CONTEST:
Good thing is, we are on 2 opposite sides from the contest leader. So, there’s a chance to win it. Note that we would have no chance to win if we pick the same teams. Here’s the picks of the villians (we are rooting against these teams, except where we share a common pick):
1st — BUF, NYG, CHI, TEN, CAR
2nd — BAL, HOU, CHI, TEN, MIN
3rd — MIA, TEN, ATL, LV, CAR
(I have two tickets in 4th and 5th place)

SECOND-HALF CONTEST
In Second-Half Contest, we are only a half-point behind the leader, who picked:
1st — NYG, NWE, TEN, DET, CAR
(I have one ticket in 2nd place)
TICKET #3 (54-29-2)….55 points
HOU -1 (WON)
TEN +5.5 (WON)
DET -3.5 (WON)
LV -2.5 (WON)
MIA +3

Comment: This is the big money ticket. It’s tied for 4th place in the Main Contest. So long as this ticket goes 2-3 or better, it should cash. Even better than that, it’s all alone in 2nd place in the Second-Half Contest, just half a game behind the leader ($75,000 for first place). It will be very difficult to make up a 2.5 point/win differential in the Main Contest, so the goal is to hold our position, but win the Second-Half Contest (or take second place, which pays $40,000). If everything else on our slate crashes and burns, if this ticket performs well, we still could clean up with a huge win. Also note there is some hedging possibility since the MIA-BUF game kicks off SNF.

Ok well it looks like ya need a PhD in Quantum mathematical formulations to figure out how much money he is going to win. So many questions such as:

- How many entries he had?
- How many "Mini Contests" he entered?
- What Prize Breakdown is?
- What place he finishes in?
- What entry fee was for Main Contest?
- What entry fee was for "Mini Contest"?
- etc
- etc

But bottom line, he won a bunch of money, so anytime a Madjacker wins big bucks, it is a good thing, well done Mr. Dalla, well done!

On the course!
Nolan is a Classy guy, and multi dimensional as a human!!!

I know of his website and he has one of the most detailed write ups.

Ever since he became part of our MadJack family, he's been a big asset to our gambling

True enough. A very large percentage of people here are "takers". He put in a shitload of leg work, posted his plays, and went about his day.

That simply wasn't good enough for some folks here.

"Where's Nolan?"

"Post earlier, so I can get my plays in."

I'm glad his hard work paid off, literally, this season. Congratulations, Nolan!

Nice job Mr. Dalla.

Not sure why he stopped posting, came back, and then stop posting again. But regardless, nice to see a Madjacker rolling in the dough, besides hammer1.........and Hanna Knightly.

His syndicate won a total of approx 190k. He had 61 investors all of whom had a 1-3% stake in any winnings. A 3% stake means you won 5.7k before taxes.
Nolan himself DID NOT have a stake in the contest. Read that again. Nolan didn’t keep any % of the total entries.
He raised 10k total of which 7k got 7 entries in this contest and 3 entries in the survivor contest, of which he was knocked out very early in the season.

As I said in post number 27...........ya need a PhD in Quantum mathematical formulations to figure all this shit out. My brain can't handle all this math.

giphy.gif

As long as he won enough to buy a six pack of Chipwich's, he is a winner in my book (my book has only pictures of hot asian females and absolutely no math).

Somebody pinged me with a message on Facebook and I clicked and am just now seeing this.

First, THANK YOU to everyone for the kind wishes.

I wish I could have won the WSC, not just for the money and prestige but because I wanted to call out Mad Jack (JW) for giving me my start. I will always be grateful for his kindness. I also appreciate so many of you here, names I recognize, even though it's been a few years. Lots of talent and smart people here. I kinda' miss Mad Jacks and those early days.

As for this season, it was incredible. As you likely know, I usually handicap most of the games. I always start with hypothetical $10K bankroll (yes, I bet also). I was down 40 percent by end of September. Trust me, that shakes confidence. Then, things turned around, and honestly I started spending more time, and learning from some earlier errors. By end of Oct., I was in the black, and up about $2,000. It was quite a turnaround.

Somebody here posted something negative (previous comment above), calling me out for getting upset about lack of traffic and I've always been transparent about my emotions and feelings, especially when I see so much BS in sports gambling, especially in media and social channels. I am under no obligation to post or share anything, but I've always done it for the love of the science of handicapping. Plus, is makes me better and work harder, knowing people are reading the picks. Anyway, it's a SHITLOAD of work and there is always a burnout factor. Posting stuff that takes many hours, week after week (unpaid), isn't easy and takes a toll. So, trying to maximize my own work and efficiency, I suspended my posts (www.nolandalla.com) sometime in Nov. and decided to continue betting on my own, and also concentrate more on contest strategy.

Well, that decision certainly paid off. About +$190K, on a $7K investment. Mostly going to investors. I did this for the experience and the press (hoping to win, of course). Naturally, many investors are taking care of me financially, and I have plenty of bottles of fine wine being sent to me as gifts, on the way (see, I told you there was an upside). 3 of my 7 tickets cashed. Two won separate contests (worth $100K). Incredibly, all 7 tickets finished in the top-50 out of 1300 contestants. I'm not sure that's ever been done before. However, I didn't win the trophy, so there's still some disappointment. There's also room to learn more and improve.

Just wait 'til next season.

Sincerely, Mad Jacks was my sports handicapping alma mater. And we were and remain, a fraternity.

Thanks again,

-- Nolan Dala

One more comment.

People love bad beat stories, and here's mine. I didn't expect to be in a hedging situation. But at halftime of MIA-BUF game I had someone on the phone with access to a max $30,000 bet on Buffalo moneyline (to win the game), at +135. I had $150K as the swing, so this was a smart hedge. Also, some chance of a middle, if it landed on BUF winning by 1 or 2 Dolphins were ahead 14-7 at the time. I was within seconds of saying "YES" when I looked up at TV and heard, "boom." Ball in the air. Second half kickoff underway. Betting windows closed. True story. Had 4 people in the call, but just didn't have time to arrange and process. Next time, I'll be more prepared.

Anyways, that was a $40K beat.
