Few things picked up as the day has gone on here...

- at 6 am, radio expected #'s had already gone from expecting 300,000 to half a mil. This even before one illegal heard the rooster crow.

-It was being touted as "A Day Without Immigrants", which immediately made me wonder how they would get to the parade without driving or if they ALL got insurance for the day.

-Organizers were selling t-shirts saying something in Spanish. It would cost the participants $5. This was to help defray the costs of the day. Radio's words, not mine.

-It's been repeatedly stated that this is not just a spanish exercise.

If anyone here is familiar, a whole crowd was meeting ( one place of many I think) in Bucktown, Armitage/Milwaukee/Division. It was something to see all the flags and all. All I kept hearing as I went through my day were various sirens. Don't know if it had anything to do with the march.

Here on the NW side, I now have to brave it to my mom's, brother's, gf's, mechanic, and the post office to get my mortgage sent. Hope I make it. Lots and lots of Poles and Micks(me) in these parts. Could be dangerous.

I'll get back later. Not before I cap tonights card.

I/O needs our help. Any MJers in the Chicago area - please help this dumb mick get his mortgage payment out today and protect him from the pollocks as he makes his way to his brother's girlfriend's house.

One I/O is worth all of Mexico. If any of these brown bastards hurts him or causes him to default on his mortgage, there will be serious hell to pay.

Sincerely,

Not Saul.

Just got back

It's all in my head, I don't think they want to do me any harm just because I'm a tall, good looking, self employed white guy.

Think they are a little pissed because I'm sleeping with one of their own on a regular basis. She hates Spanish men.

I had NOTHING to do with that fact!

I am a little pissed because all this Mexi-talk had me dying for some hot tamales (the food type) and my usual Mon/Thurs hook up was not at her post. Wait till I see her later in the week. I'm going to have a thing or two to say to her about how she runs her affairs! Not that she would understand a word I'm saying.

From what I'm hearing off the radio, it seems like 200 large might be a bit of a stretch for the total showing.

You say the rain scared them away. I think they are actually gainfully employed and may not give a shiit about the whole affair as the organizers would want us to believe. Or their are literally hundreds of thousands of illegals that are wanted criminals.

Methinks status quo would be fine for them. They are making off like bandits in this city. Lots of service jobs that pay well. No need for a license or insurance to drive, just get one off 22nd street or a nearby state as some of my previous employees have done. They have their own Spanish world in this city as well, just like home. I've experienced it more than once. The farms/cities of Mexico or Central/South America suck ass. That's what I've been told directly by many.

You have to remember these protest are well organized---ever wonder why same cities are always involved in protest regardless of cause? Its a well oiled machine paid for by certain elements.
Easy to get participants--just fuel the anger---

Lou Dobbs had good article today--see I check out cnn at times ;)

But only one newspaper, to its credit, reported that illegal aliens and their supporters' boycott of the national economy on the First of May is clear evidence that radical elements have seized control of the movement. The Washington Post, alone among national papers, reported that ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) has become an active promoter of the national boycott.

Some illegal immigration and open borders activists in the Hispanic community are deeply concerned about the involvement of the left-wing radical group. But others, like Juan Jose Gutierrez, whom I've interviewed a number of times over the past several months, manages to be both director of Latino Movement USA and a representative of ANSWER.

gw -- besides the fact that i don't give a rat's ass if someone calls me honky, whitey, gringo, or whatever; i thought this was interesting.

-------------------------
Although the first recorded use of "gringo" in English dates from 1849 (when John Woodhouse Audubon, the son of the famous nature artist, wrote that "We were hooted and shouted at as we passed through, and called 'Gringoes'"), the word was known in Spanish well before the Mexican-American War. According to Rawson, the Diccionario Castellano of 1787 noted that in Malaga "foreigners who have a certain type of accent which keeps them from speaking Spanish easily and naturally" were referred to as gringos, and the same term was used in Madrid, particularly for the Irish.

The true origin of gringo is most likely that it came from griego, the Spanish word for "Greek." In Spanish, as in English, something difficult or impossible to understand is referred to as being Greek: We say "It's Greek to me," just as in Spanish an incomprehensible person is said to hablar en griego (i.e., "speak in Greek"). The English version of the proverb shows up in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar (1599), when Casca, one of the conspirators against Caesar, proclaims:

-- Nay, an I tell you that, I'll ne'er look you i' the face again; but those that understood him smiled at one another and shook their heads; but for mine own part, it was Greek to me.
The same phrase was also used (at about the same time) by another Elizabethan playwright, Thomas Dekker, but its origins are much older: it comes from the Medieval Latin proverb Graecum est; non potest legi (i.e., "It is Greek; it cannot be read"). --
----------------------------------------

So, really, is it all that demeaning. I, for one, can't speak a lick of freaking Spanish. Que?

and "spic" is short for hispanic
and "wop" is for immigrants "WithOut Papers"
and "nip/nipper" is short for Nippon (japanese)

So until I can walk down the street referring to the people that fall into those categories with those terms because, hey, it isnt demeaning, it's just slang... yes, Gringo is on the "no talk" list in my book.

This fvcking country pisses me off more and more every damn day. How is it that you can only have and voice an opinion if you are in the minority? If you are in the majority and you go against the minority you are a racist/sexist/pig/gringo/dumb@ss... etc... but just reverse the side you have the opinion on and you are a fvcking civil rights hero?

had a little fun with this.....but,it`s really serious "biness"....

imo, these marches/boycotts are like having people break into your house, decide to stay, expect you to feed and clothe them, and then complain to you about what's in the fridge....

One observation is constant--Protests of any magnitude originate and are carried out in same liberal stronghold states and cities.Just consider if the whole U.S. had a liberal agenda?

Can't remember seeing a protest of any kind here in the Heartland- in 20 + years I lived here-and would be clueless to the fact there was even one going on today if not for media.

One of the highlighted city protests yesterday was Wichita, Kansas. There were supporters of the cause absent from work in every state I would guess, but I read reports from Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Georgia among others.

I just wanted to keep it real for you, Dogs, as I know you seek the truth and not forwarding a point negative to liberals... ;)

A sidebar question, being from "flyover" country myself...how else would anyone from the midwest find out anything of major importance if not for "the media?" Other than ethanol issues, that is.

So folks do read these post. At least I got what was expected. But the main point was not even reached. If anyone does not think business is not happy to have this cheap labor. Think again. And the cheapest labor there ever was. Was called what. Slavery. Or just poor and out of luck. So I asked again is this a new way of slavery. If we want these folks to stop flooding in to U S A. We better start taking better care of our borders. And maybe we need to fine some of these companies that break the law. Like they did Wall Mart a year or two ago. And to say above these things affect or take place mainly in Liberal States is just nuts.

Well that's kind of a goofy/obvious comment. How would anybody know of *anything* going on in the world if not from the media?

That last time they marched countrywide a couple weeks ago there were 75,000 of them participating here in Fort Myers maybe 7 or 8 miles northeast of where I live and I wouldn't have known the first thing about it if not for the media.

Exactly. I posted above before I read this. Not just the midwest, but anywhere really.
