---and just how many associations of O and Blago would you like Matt? You might read the entire affidavit and note how far it goes back and see who "Rezco" was right there there as chief fund raiser for both in same time period.
Let me guess--O comes out in few days and we have another--as with the rev-ayers-Rezo that he claims is not the person "he knew".

You got to realize at some point in time --when you run with dogs you get fleas.

--or you can take the Scott approach--

O says he they hadn't taked talked to gov about appointment--
Axelerod said they did---
the claims he mispoke
Scott comes back with Blago saying O wouldn't take the deal --
How the fck could there have been a deal if O's
people hadn't discussed it with him--DUH-

Had considered giving Scott a 6 place setting of O commemorative plates on that brilliant piece of deductive reasoning--but sent him a Crown- car air freshner instead. :)

--with that being said I hope O comes out of this unscathed for now for sake of country. Would rather "if" anything becomes of it-it comes out after he pardons those whose refuse to testify against him--any drug dealing family members--or fugitives for cash to build his library and finance any poitical ambitions his wife may have ;)

"Since October, the Tribune has broken several stories on the Blagojevich probe, but in some cases withheld information because of the government's request."

this whole thing makes no sense....

1)they`ve been publishing stories about this since october?

2)the investigation has been ongoing for over 5 years(dating back to 2002) and they just decided to wire tap this a-hole after the tribune started printing stories in october?...

this governor, knowing he was being investigated still had these damning conversations after the fact?...from his offices?...

3)the tribune(who is a part of the complaint regarding the request "guv blog" made to fire the editorial board) are the very same ones that turned up info on this guy`s activities?...and put pressure on the prosecutor to "step on it"?....

what did they have that hadn`t already printed?....the wire tap?....how the hell would they get that info?......hell,they already alerted the whole state that the guy was under investigation....

wtf?.......now jesse jackson jr.lawyer`s up and is holding a press conference?....

so,i guess that this yo-yo offered this seat for sale to some of the 5 candidates but not all?....

jackson discussed the seat with gov. blog but HE got no offer?.......yeah right...

sounds like an elaborate crock of shit...with the newspaper knee deep and looking for some payback on the governor....scumbag that he is....

is illinois a foreign country?...sounds like it..

It *is* a bit hard to follow, but what is the Trib supposed to do? Not report on what they learned just because they're part of the complaint?

Let the Sun-Times scoop them?

It's obviously big news, and some part of it includes them, but I think they actually showed restraint in holding back the info about the wire tap. (I also think that's what they're talking about)

Ironically, I think that that 'restraint' is the only part of this thing that could indicate some sort of bias. Like mentioned in that article, it possibly could be seen as helping law-enforcement and that's not the press' job.

It all kind of goes around in a circle, but I really don't thing that the timing of the arrest was intended to cover anything up and I don't think the Trib did anything out of line in their investigative work.

This looks like a slam dunk case that was reported on by a newspaper. That's all.

But even if there *was* some amount of extra aggression in chasing this story, I think it's understandable given what this guy tried to do to their company using his political position.

As long as what they printed was truthful as they knew it, there really is no problem, I don't think.

If they have proof that Obama was in any way involved with trying to peddle his seat, bring it.

What do you mean there couldn't have been a deal without Obama knowing about? There easily could have been. Why would Obama have to be involved for this guy to do this? It was his appointment, and his alone. What would Obama have to do with it?

Meeting with and being involved with a bribe scheme are two different things, but I would you that you know that.

This guy will be singing like a canary, so if there is something to this, we'll find out.

This governor is possibly the dumbest criminal i've ever seen.

If Barry is in any way a part of the bribe ideas, he will take the top spot away from him.

As a former Illinoisian, I will re-enter the poly forum to offer my two cents:

Fitzgerald acted when he did so as not to taint the Senate seat.....in an interview, he said, what would happen? Would that guy get impeached? It would have been a murky situation, so basically, he felt the urge to act before the seat got filled.....prosecutors make these types of decisions all the time, such as moving on a suspect to keep a CI safe or moving on insider trading type deals before people get fleeced.....this is the same situation.

I have zero problem with that.....it is the smart, prudent thing to do....like IO said, this knocks down the door, those who have been too afraid of Blago's wrath are starting to come out......indictments can, and will be, added.

Actually, Obama's movements earlier this year helped bring down Blago.....there was a major ethics bill that the Gov vetoed. It did not look like the Illinois State Legislature would take up the issue after that, but Obama used the capital he had earned in becoming the Dem nominee to pressure people to reintrocude the measure. Eventually, the ethics bill passed, overriding Blago's veto.

Blago hated this bill and in attempt to raise cash before new rules went into effect, Blago went into overdrive mode as far as peddling influence goes.....his zeal in bilking the system before new rules went into effect hastened his downfall in recent weeks.

Both Obama and Durbin have said they want Fitzgeradl retained in his position......both have made statements that its about time someone cleans up Chicago.

And, of course, this make 2 Governors in a row from the State of Illinois going to prison. The Republican Ryan is already in the Pen for the license for bribes scandal.....i hope he makes room for Blago in the next cell over.

But, seriously, since this is a gambling forum.....perhaps we should start a pool and/or square game on When and How the next governor of Illinois will get busted.

IO, are you in?

well, i guess it`s one of those excuses.....

"taint" the seat.....or the "newspaper" forced the issue....

lots of excuses...pick one....

i wonder why KHQA pulled that story down off their website regarding obama`s discussion with "blog" about the senate seat?.....hmmmmm?...

again i ask,why did obama lie about meeting with "blog" to discuss the seat?...

his man had already stated that he had and then retracted his statement saying "he was mistaken" because of obama`s denial...

now it turns out that he wasn`t "mistaken"...

murky is right...

we`ll be waiting for the msm to touch this...in 5...4...3...2...

/not holding breath....

if the governor asked for money for himself that`s illegal...

if the governor asked for money for a charity or a political action committee it`s not a crime...

THAT`S why i was railing on stopping the investiigation before a deal was made...

a good lawyer can argue that these converstions were not for the governor`s personal enrichment...

somebody call eddie....

and let me state clearly that i don`t believe obama will be implicated....i see no reason for him to have a role in this....unless somebody that wants to save their ass knows something...

but i think bock walks away from this....

i just don`t understand why he and axelrod kept stepping all over one another.....

that`s very odd....

This has most likely also killed any chance of Daley getting his latest pet demand to satisfy his ego.....

I tend to agree with you on that one.....the sports fan in me would have loved to have seen the Olympics in Chicago....the pragmatist in me thinks in would be a nightmare.

So, you hope Daley is next......i understand your angst there......but I kinda hope the Family Stroger and the Cook County Board is on the more immediate radar.....or the CTA.....or the Toll Authority......or, well you get the point.

Don't know if you know this but Stroger big tax hike has not even come close to bringing in the needed revenue. So now he's resorted to borrowing to make due. He's a little kid with explosives. He's even hit the local air waves when the talking heads have had his opponents on. Guy has the weakest game in the world.

GW, he actually said the whole taint the seat stuff....i do buy that logic....its a very splashy indictment with the whole pay for a senate seat situation.

This is just arm chair lawyering on my part, but I wonder if prosecutors felt such a charge would riase enough heat that Blago might just resign.....and, it's much easier to prosecute somebody when they are not the governor.

I just dont buy whatever conspriacy you are trying to conflate.....dude is trying to bring down a dirty, ego maniacal politician whose bilking of the public trust, funds and capital I find abhorable....i'm an idealist and hate this chit.....Fitz gets nothing but high marks from me for bringing this sucker down and doing so before a Senator got appointed.

Change we can believe in, the Chicago way.

Obama fits in here somewhere, we will see, the nation is in for a stormy 4 years with Obama at the helm. Obama may not be the most crooked politician, he learned from the best, though

I see a pardon for Blago from Obama.

As Rush says we are in the middle of a sitcom...

Don't you like change?

THE NATION IS IN FOR A STORMY 4 YRS.... RUSH SAYS WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SITCOM.... WHAT HAS THE NATION BEEN IN THE LAST 8 YRS ??????????? WAKE ME WHEN THE bush/cheney SITCOM IS OVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets just say, Obama is the biggest crook in the world... if you think he would pardon blago, you don't think ! if Obama is 1/2 the man I think he is, even if he is a crook, there will be no way to connect these two..... blago is an ameturish thug !

the point is that obama flat out lied about meeting with the guv......

it may not amount to a hill of beans, but why lie?...

why lie about rev, wright?....why lie period?...

it`s good practice,i guess..:rimshot (cheap shot:grins: )....

as far as the reason for cutting off the investigation?...i have a theory....

this thing is becoming like a snowball rolling down a hill..maybe some insiders are thinking,"this has to be cut off before it gets too big to control".....

remember the movie,"hunt for red october"..... this reminds me of this quote,"this is going to get out of control..... this is going to get out of control and we will be lucky to live through it."...

as far as this prosecutor goes,i`m not as sold as some that he`s such a straight shooter...

he is the one, after all, who went after libby and cheney's staff even though he already knew armitage/powell were the source of the leak....that screams political hack.....

the guy is just as suspect as any of the other players, IMHO...

possibly this loose cannon blago became too much of a liability to somebody, and he is going down.......

and don't anybody expect any more really big fish to fall....

sorry to be so cynical, but....i play the cynic... to kosar`s good-natured fairy...

now i`m gonna watch ufc on spike and have my schnitzel and beer....

play nice!...
