Hank Goldberg is a HUGE square

Granted, a man who hasn't handicapped an NFL game all season has little right to tell others how to place wagers, but please pay no attention to Hank Goldberg on ESPN.

He touted five plays this morning on Sportscenter, all backed up by classic square analysis like:

-They are (X) wins,(Y) losses in their last (X+Y) games ATS.

-They have covered (X) in a row on the road at today's opponent.

-They have covered (X) in a row in this situation.

If you are handicapping using parameters like that, just save yourself some heartache and paypal some money to Henry & Co. None of those factors have one darn thing to do with today's games. Those are stats that take into account a sample where the nature of teams (coaches, players, etc.) have changed dramatically. For example, included in Indy's ATS success at K.C. is a game coached by Tony Dungy and largely authored by Dominic Rhodes running on a wet field against a defense with almost none of the same personnel as today's game. That type of handicapping may result in some wins from time to time, but ultimately it results in failure.

In the interest of full disclosure, Goldberg at least offered analyis focused on today's game when he pointed out that Jacksonville is playing their third straight on the road while Houston is coming off a bye. Of course, those are old, hokey parameters like, "bet the loser of the first game of a baseball doubleheader in the second game," that often mean nothing long term (Joe Morgan quoted that gem at 80%, while the actual numbers reflect a LESS THAN 50% winning percentage over the last three years).

The conclusion here is that Hank Goldberg is yet another example of a square being branded a handicapping expert by the national media just because he got lucky over a short period of time using square handicapping techniques. The same thing happened with Jimmy the Greek, Norman Chad and Phil Mickelson, and surely the same thing will happen with the next person willing to "lower" themselves to giving ATS predictions and analysis to a national audience. Viewer, beware.

sort of like a guy who had a good run and then got his own Free Picks page on a website and then when everything fell apart tried multiple failed methodologies and systems; wrote countess stories on why he was losing, and then went <POOF> quietly into oblivion.

and Beantownjim always knew it too...

I'm just a guy who's trying to help gamblers. Lots of money is won by sportsbooks from gamblers who believe that square analysis like the stuff Golberg touts is worthwhile. Put in your work, stay patient and keep your discipline when the inevitiable losing streak hits and you'll be alright.

By and large, the negative replies I inevitably get are from gamblers who lose long term. Sometimes really sharp people call me out on occasion as well when I make mistakes, but I think I'm on target with my original post here.

NOLAN REPLIES:

Hye fvck.......what have YOU ever contributed ot this forum, handicapping science, or anything for that matter?

---Sound of crickets chirping---

What Douglas has done here (and throughout his time at MJS) is to post *INFORMATION* What cappers and readers decide to DO with that information is THEIR business.

I believe that anyone who gives his time here and provides analysis, even picks that turn out the be wrong, are LIGHT YEARS ahead of those who come to the forum and the only time their miserable little names are seen is under the guise of criticism.

Get lost you miserable fvck.....and by the way -- I had a phenomenal day so don;t think there's any motivation here other than to put your lame ass back in the crapper.

Cocks*sucker fvcker.

To all others who post -- please continue to do so and don't let lthe ittle minded disssaude you from doing so.

And moe more thing -- the gloves are off now. Of course S-Love doesn't sign his real name and posts anonymously -- how fvcking convenient.

I'll take Paul Lynde

Just my $.02,
Maybe a 3rd road game in a row by Jacksonville mite merit attention except it was only the 2nd road game in a row.

That miss-information from Hankie would annoy me more . You're rite , where does that idiot come off giving wrong info like that ?!

Square / Hank Goldberg for the block !

you know it kind of funny--I have a lot a fun with the Worm persona thing, make a mistake and the people line up to jump down my throat....

WELL-that being said, I will say that there are people on this site that are not willing to jump on someone like you Nolan or others like you.

You obviously can not take it when someone calls you out. Keep in mind I read your posts (some) and sometimes get some info from them.
I personally do not believe why anyone would even think you are a average handicapper let alone one that really gives useful info week in week out. I am not here to blast you-enough people do that to the WORM-BUT, I believe at some point somewhere you conned a lot of people in your life into believing you know things about gambling, Vegas, handicapping etc.
I for one think you are a poor to mediocre at best capper and writer. I will always defend your right to be one too.

Plain and simply-people here follow you-people here read your drek-I for one should tell you if that is the case you better be able to handle it when you put yourself out there like you do.

This is probably better in the general forum but...

This is exactly what I mean-A guy like Agent comes here to call people out and bash-I am here and so he has nothing better to do--If Agent read what I wrote (if he can read)-he would see that it was not a bash but a comment on Nolan handling people like you (pricks/trash). He cant handle it -I can-also I commented on his handicapping skills that he flaunts

so, how did all of his picks turn out today?

PS, I agree with ND, Hank Goldberg doesn't know the first thing about betting NFL games.

You also said he is a poor to mediocre capper and writer at best..I mean who the fuk do you think really agrees with you Mr Smasharoo?? You are a total fraud, it was proven and if you dont like it put your money where your mouth is against Nolan and I will bet it up.

Worm:

Its hard for me to understand your point. But let's see -- I posted about 1100 posts here, and put up 1200 daily reports -- here at a free site. In my posts I have never called myelf an expert. In act, I've repeatedly stated I am a student of the game and have a lot more to learn. I just offer an opinion and analysis and let people do what they want with the infprmation. Of course, those days are over, largely becasue there is no EV in posting or providing picks.

Thanks for your immense contributions to the forum. I don't know what we'd do without your insight.
