Eddie - Thank you for defining selective recall for me. Here in Texas we do not have educations or dictionaries. Although, I'm not sure how I was displaying any kind of selective memory by simply pointing out your bizarre obsession with the state of Texas. Are there going to be more people from Texas talking about this case than from other states? Of course. It might have something to do with the fact that this crime occurred in Texas, therefore much more coverage of the event will take place down here with speculation and shaky facts abounding.

Look, I've lurked on these boards for a couple of years. My cappin abilities are equal to Dr. Freezes humility. I just didn't decide to post all of a sudden to piss a bunch of people off. I responded to the arrogant manner in which those people determined how and why the jury decided what they did in the Yates case.

My response was directed to those individuals from all parts of the country( and you can see by the # of subsequent posts) who hold what I will call black and white beliefs about this case. In summary, the case, as most cases, does not fit neatly into a box.

The generalizations and stereotypes are just that. Tell me people across the country, IN GENERAL, don't think of Texans as loud obnoxious. They think of New Yorkers as pushy etc. Rubes from Ohio are thought of as... well rubes...Californians..."look at that sunset man..." so on and so forth.

My comments and opinions are directed at those who hear unthinkable facts such as drowning your own children and want to off the bitch because of there own inadequacies. I think, in a civilized world, we need to do more than that. Personally, I do not believe in state killings. Before the idiots jump in, I do not believe in a mother killing her children. I think society needs to handle it differently than those of felonious monk, Dr. Freeze, skull dog and Blue's ilk.

I'm not sure that the best way to counter a lawyer stereotype is to start slinging geographic stereotypes out at most of the people responding in this thread, but to each his own.

About the case, I for one have not read much about it. She did what she did, it is horrifying, and she will spend the rest of her life in prison. That's all I really know about the case and it is all I care to know.

One interesting aspect about this case that has been touched upon is that this woman had such severe post partum depression after her 4th child, I believe requiring hospitalization, that she was on the brink of suicide and/or killing her kids.

After this episode, her doctors advised her and her husband that she should under no cicumstances have another pregnancy, as the depression could well get worse...

Her husband's reply (backed incidentally,by their preacher) was that it was God's will that she bear as many children as possible. This same guy now sounds like he may try and sue her doctors...

Should he not be held responsible to some degree???

Dr Freeze, in your medical training you have no doubt been exposed to psych and O & G...have you never seen a really severe case of post=partum depression? ie with associated psychosis?
