They were probably murdered by his estranged children. Who knows. It’s anybody’s guess. Sad ending

Well unless the children were expert assassins, they were not murdered by anyone.

Initial findings from preliminary autopsies performed on Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, show there was “no external trauma to either individual,” the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday

“There was no obvious sign or indication of foul play,” Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza told reporters Thursday, adding there was no sign of a struggle or that items had been taken from the home. The couple had been deceased for quite a while, Mendoza said.

I sure as fuck hope he (and his wife) didn't kill the dog.

Sadly people are selfish as fuck, it wouldn't be the first time a couple decides to kill themselves and then kill the helpless dog, it has happened before.

I sure hope it was carbon monoxide poisoning (or something like that) but the fact it has taken this long and still nothing to report has me a bit concerned. You know almost right away if it is carbon monoxide poisoning, you can't even walk into the house without passing out. But yes it could be some other type of poisoning, tainted food is also a possibility, although that is very rare, but yes, possible.

If him and his wife did kill the dog, they are fucking scum.
I’m not sure if we want Kickserv “on the case”……

Anyone who believes “it wouldn’t be the first time a couple decides to kill themselves and then kill the helpless dog, it happened before” should not be lead detective. How do you kill yourself, and then kill the dog? Aren’t you dead already?

Maybe Jason Voorhees can shed some light….

1. Kill the dog

2. Kill yourself

3. Hire Jason as clean-up in case of any fuck-ups

A German shepherd dog was also found dead in the bathroom. The affidavit initially said the dog was in a closet, but police later clarified it was in a crate. Two other healthy dogs were found on the property.

The couple had been deceased for quite a while, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza told reporters Thursday. The maintenance workers told police they had not been in touch with the homeowners for two weeks, the affidavit said.

Maybe the dog died from dehydration. Two weeks of no water in the crate.

So I think this is now the most likely cause.

I read where they don't think carbon monoxide played a part in the deaths. Don't know how true that is but i did hear that on the radio.

The updated theory is

Hackman had a heart attack and collapsed in the mudroom. His pacemaker showed last activity as Feb 17th

Betsy ran to the bathroom to get pills (blood pressure, tylenol &/or thyroid medication) She falls, potentially hitting her head or falls from potentially having her own heart attack event and never gets up. On her way down she knocked a space heater to the floor.

The dog in the crate dies of dehydration after 9 or so days of being locked in the kennel. Hackman and Betsy discovered Feb 26th

Yep i read that also. They have also ruled out carbon monoxide. Died like 9 days before they found the couple.

They have not updated this portion yet to my knowledge. I'll bold the inconsistencies from the report

"
Hackman and Arakawa were found Wednesday afternoon after someone called 911 to report the bodies. Mendoza said Thursday the couple had been dead "quite a while."

A maintenance worker was at the residence Wednesday to do work and grew concerned after the couple did not answer the door. The worker contacted a security officer in the subdivision, who went to the house and discovered the couple inside, Mendoza said.

A man who described himself as a caretaker of the subdivision called 911 to report the bodies, according to the call audio. He said that the door was locked and that he could not go inside, but that he saw them through the window and they were not moving.

Two maintenance workers said they found the couple’s front door ajar when they went to check on the residence, according to the affidavit.

Santa Fe County deputies “did not observe any signs of forced entry into the home,” according to the affidavit
"

So I don't know what to believe after reading that except writing/reporting is going the way of the dinosaurs

On the course!
Looks like his wife died from eating rat turds, and he wandered around the house until he tipped over.

Case closed.

Wow! Damn shame.

He could have let the dog out of the cage...instead the dog died a slow painful death (assuming the dog died of starvation/lack of water). Yes it is possible the dog died BEFORE either of them died, but that is highly unlikely.

He died of Alzheimer's FFS. He loved dogs as much or more than you do.
