I used to play with Greg a bit in some tournaments at Foxwoods in the 99-01 timeframe. One of the nicest guys I have ever played with. He did get lucky in the WSOP no doubt, but folks, whoever wins will have 20 stories to tell of how they got lucky when they were all in so that doesnt surprise me. In a tournament with 5000 players, the best player will not win. Ever. The best player who also got the luckiest at the right times, thats the player whos going to win. Thats why the more online qualifiers/amatuers that enter, the more likely you are to have someone win who we will consider a joke, and who may never be heard from again.
Greg however was a very succesful sidegame player, starting in lower level NL games and working up to some high limit stud and HE games. Nice guy, havent spoken to him in a couple of years, but I imagine he is still pretty down to Earth.
