Just spotted in Vegas. Word is he is up around 270-280 lbs.! No joke boys and girls. Why the heck is he HERE tonite when he has to fight in the Big Apple next week? Seriously, the buzz is this guy is FAT. I am considering upping my Ruiz bet. Really, how much weight can he possibly lose in a week? Remember, you heard it here first.

BTW

I just played Ruiz wins inside distance +580 at 5dimes

I'm not saying thats how he will win, but if Toney is way over weight, its very possible.

Good value, small play

haven`t looked at this weekend`s card like i would have liked to.....sorry for not weighing in...

i would take ruiz by decision...if you are playing ruiz....almost 3-1....reason being, i doubt this will be fought at a scintillating pace....lots of holding and clinching....and toney is a very hard guy to stop..

but,anything can happen..

carry on gents....great job so far

g.l. to everyone..

Unlike my last comment regarding Cintron at the presser, the word on Toney is from regular boxing dudes. If this will be the determining factor, I don't know. But carrying around 30-40 extra lbs. of lard will tax a fellow. And lets not forget, some of these "hall of fame" trainers have been losing some fights as of late. McGirth, Cuningham among others. Freddie Roach may be next. Nice work Boxie on the cards this w/e so far.

thanks franks

I hear ya gee-dub, I already played Ruiz +170 so I have a decision covered. Toney is very tough but his chin is still untested at heavyweight. Ruiz is not a huge banger but he can punch a bit. If Toney weighs as much as frank says he does it would not surprise me at all if he got dropped late in the fight. Especially after Ruiz wears him out by leaning on him and wrestling for 10 rounds. At +580 it was worth a small shot.

have you guys seen the photo of toney hitting the heavybag? I'm not sure about the rules for posting websites but there's one taken late last week and he looks woefully out of shape. not sure if it's 270 but it's definitely not under 220 which is what he'd hope to be to have a good chance of stealing a decision.

everyone here seems to like ruiz, as do I and I think toney's blown his shot at glory, although he probably wouldn't beat ruiz regardless.

-he fights inside, as does john
-he is way out of shape
-the ref assigned is known to be lax (forget his name)

this is the best boxing board for bettors on the net. keep up the solid work guys.

there are always rumors about Toney's weight before fights.
He probably comes in between 225 and 240. Of course over 230 is extra fat.

Toney has a head like a concrete floor and just is not a intelligent type of fighter.

What is he now 40 + yrs old. ?

Ruiz should win this.

Toney is 36 years old. I say he comes in closer to 240 than 220. He is a little shop worn and is becoming injury prone. If Ruiz fights the good fight, which in his case is LESS lunge punching and grappling, he can win this. Toney figures to outsmart him, and he is a shrewd dude to be sure. Knows it all as far as boxing goes. He may not have too much left in the tank is how I see it.

I think this would be a perfect bout for ruiz to showcase his long lost jab and right hand style, don't tie up excessively and outwork toney from the outside. doing so would pile up the points and enough shots might drop toney, after all he did once fight at 60 lbs less than his current weight.

Toney is no rocket scientist, but inside the ring he is very intelligent and even more skilled. If I knew this fight would come down to skill and inteligence I would load up on Toney for sure. The questions here are age, size, and motivation.

Spread
Obviously frank is exagerating when he says 270 lbs. But like you said, anything over 230 is fat, not to mention, unmotivated. And his age could play a big part in that.

One things for sure, Ruiz will be extremely ready for the fight this weekend. He's younger, stronger, taller, longer, bigger, more experienced at this weight, and in much better shape for this fight.

I'm loving the +170 here!!!

Btw, Ruiz inside distance is now at +680

Who says I don't move lines

By the way, the 270 wasn't my observation, it was mentioned by certain individuals who are professionals in the sport and were taken back by James appearence. Not to sound all CIA and whatnot, but it would not be prudent of me to say in what capacity these folks operate. Lets just leave it at that he is coming in LARGE!

ruiz can be had at +183 at pinny...if toney is LARGE as anticipated, I expect the price to drop very shortly after the weigh in.

if toney weighs over 235 and the price doesn't drop like a stone, would you guys suspect a fix is in?

Your right about the funny smell .

Something just is not right here. Toney should not be this big of a favorite. He will probably knock Ruiz out or something crazy will happen and Ruiz will lose it.

Likely a big sucker bet and the fix has already been called in.

Please don't tell me that Don King is involved in this fight in any way shape or form ?

I will definately try to watch this fight this weekend.
