Toney basically dominated the fight. Never in trouble, hit Ruiz with decent shots frequently. Got a lucky knockdown ruling where he stepped on Ruiz's foot to tumble him to the ground but it really didn't matter in the end.

Better fighter won. Honestly watching this guy I do not know how he has ever lost. Only seen his recent bouts but this guy has outstanding boxing skills and has an iron chin. Has he ever been hurt?

Yeh the lucky knockdown probably won the decision for Toney..

King factor at work.

I have seen Toney get rocked by chumps over the years. Fighters with alot less talent than Ruiz.

Now that Toney has a belt, next fight he gets
his head handed to him.

KOD, no problem. When a thread is started, it belongs to everyone. If not for the posts I would be out money. That's what this forum is all about.
By the way, you sure are a character!

Toney has a head like a concrete floor and just is not a intelligent type of fighter.

What is he now 40 + yrs old. ?

Ruiz should win this.

Sorry but I just saw this. Yea his head is like a bowling ball, but he can take a shot. And he may be the smartest fighter in the sport today. I would hope youa re joking when you wrote that.
Toney dominated Ruiz for the most part. Im just waiting for people to realize how special of a fighter this guy is. He beats a guy with one arm, then he doesnt have enough time to get in shape, and he controls the fight so he can go at his own pace, against a 2 time heavyweight champ. Not everyone is gonna look like Holyfield. The guy has a problem with his weight. It is unfortunate, but it doesnt seem to hinder him much. I think his ideal weight for HW would be between 215-225.

Toney-Klitschko is what the people want. Golota would be fun to watch too, but Vitali blows him out. Golota doesnt like guys that can crack. Trust me that would be easy money. Toney would tire him out, and if he survived the early attack, he would tire him out and take him out no doubt. Vitali was out of gas against Williams.

Congrats Scott

The outcome of this fight wasn't influenced by King at all. Toney won the fight easily, the scorecards were correct.

I have always been a fan of Toney and his style, and I'm glad to see him win a hw title (especially against Ruiz) But he's getting too old to get away with being way out of shape, it will catch up to him sooner than later. He's one of the most skilled fighters of our time, but skill is only half of the game.

BTW
Klitschko would outbox Toney from the outside. He's way too big and way too tall, Toney would have a very hard time getting close enough to land punches. He would have no answer for Klits jab, he's just too tall and too long for Toney.

the best combo last night was hbo's showing golota's three puncher to bowe's jewels from 10 years ago. I crack up everytime I see that, although I know it's not funny, at least riddick doesn't think so.

Just a word to the gang. When I was first told about Toney's weight, it was sincere. It came from a friend who works in the sport. Too bad it dominated my thinking down the road and I harped on it in the thread. I hope my rants did'nt cause anyone any financial difficulities; not that anyone listens to me anyway! It's just that we all work together here and providing accurate, timely information is crucial to success. Peace out.

frank...toney was heavy.....the problem was that ruiz fought a strangely orthodox fight..let toney set a leisurely pace.....didn`t do what he usually does..didn`t press...to make toney tired later in the fight....as it turned out, ruiz was gassed more than toney...

..and stoney was as quiet as a church mouse....no fire,whatsoever...

he should have roughed toney up.....pushed him a bit....but,he didn`t..

you don`t go away from what got you where you are because the public dislikes it....unless you are prepared to lose....

not your fault...the smarter, better fighter won...

yeah, ruiz also didn't get any advice on changing things around, the jab then straight right wasn't working, and he didn't try anything else. one would have been to add the left hook fired down low, because toney was rolling away from the right and ducking down and would have been right in the path, but ruiz's conditioning might have made any strategy change moot. we can't win them all, at least it wasn't laying heavy juice.

Toney will be in better shape next fight, and prob beat Brewster. Steroids had nothing to do with the fight. But its against the rules and Ruiz deserves his belt back... Cant get rid of that damn guy
