"Sensing Oscar De La Hoya has been starving himself in training camp to make weight, even admitting that he would have to forego Thanksgiving dinner, Team Pacquiao has decided to make it a little harder for the Golden Boy. They have arranged for an 11.25-pound, 12-inch chocolate cheesecake from the world-famous Carnegie Deli in New York City to be delivered to Oscar today at Summit Camp in Big Bear Lake, Calif., where he is training. The following message is included: "Oscar -- Looking forward to serving you your just desserts on December 6. Happy Thanksgiving. From Team Pacquiao." De La Hoya has been claiming he's been walking around at 145 pounds (curiously the recent segment of "24/7" showed him weighing 155 pounds), as he prepares for his welterweight super fight against the Pacman.
NOTE: The cheesecake, which was FedExed from the Carnegie Deli's bakery in New Jersey yesterday, arrived at the FedEx Rialto, California facility at 9:09 a.m. PST this morning where it is now on a truck headed to Oscar's training camp for delivery later today.

dlh eats the whole cake....misses making weight by 5-7 pounds....the fight gets cancelled and manny misses out on a multi-million dollar payday......

or,oscar eats the cake, misses weight by 5-7 pounds, manny agrees to fight the bigger oscar anyway and gets ktfo......

who the hell is manny`s strategist?....buddy mcgirt?...

I'm pretty sure it's in the contract that every pound DLH is over, that's 1 million to many.DLH would be a dick to come in at 150 since I don't think he has to worry much about 3 mill... I think it's possible that getting down to 147 for the first time in 7 years or so could compromise him a bit and if he doesn't get Manny out early..... ya never know.... If I'm not mistaken, DLH didn't quite make the contracted weight (150?) against Forbes and they worked something out...

boxrec had him listed at 150 for forbes?.....i honestly don`t recall...

i`m gonna try and keep it in my pants(opinion wise) on this fight...i`ve said enough...

i think that this line may drop lower...maybe below -200 as i expect millions of crazed filipino pesos to flood in on their "deity"....

g.l.

HBO edits the 24/7 shows heavily for effect

Who knows what Oscar really weighed then... or now a few weeks before the fight

wouldn't surprise me if it was someone totally different on the scale when they shot those cutaways....

trying to selll pay per views and build the drama....

Exactly Ghost. 24/7 is doing a big favour to Oscar backers. their agenda is to bill the dog as being live and sell an evenly-matched fight. Remember how much late money came in on Hatton? Some of that must have been influenced by HBO.

I'm on Oscar big.

regarding Forbes, rumor has it that Oscar was 151lbs for a 150lb fight, but the officials ignored it.

It said 147.8 the second time after the 12 hard rounds of sparring.

This will be my biggest bet of the year :scared

The 24-7 shows are the greatest thing in the world for gamblers!

HBO tries their damndest to make every bout seem competitive....every dawg LIVE.

I couldn't believe the price Floyd came down to after each De La Hoya and Hatton countdown series.

I think Floyd was about -180 in each of those fights !

I still regret not betting more on Floyd against Hatton.

The Collazo fight was a dead give away about Hatton carrying 147.

That being said, Ricky shocked me and my wallet this past weekend. A great performance !

ricky fought the perfect fight...he saw that paulie had nothing and went to work....

i`m kicking myself...if you go back and watch the mailg/n`dou fight from around the 7th on you`ll see a lot of give in malignaggi....he seemed discouraged....

gotta think cotto did even more damage to maliganaggi than it appeared(and it appeared substantial).......i think mentally, malignaggi`s been a bit compromised...

Tickets suddenly available

Tickets suddenly available

And now despite the sell out in one hour , tickets are amazingly available due to an arena configuration .... could Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions be any more full of shite.

http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2/headlines//EkkZyZEypFhoXwFkPg.html

I'd love for Manny to find a way to win. Even if he did, Oscar would still get the fight with Hatton because of the $$$$. Hatton even stated the winner or loser would be a fine opponent to cover all bases.

ARENA CONFIGURATION !!!!!!!

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

I want MANNY to win BADLY. Oscar is full of crap. But I can't see it happening.

This is one of those times you have to separate your heart from your mind in order to make some money!

A few years back, one of my first big boxing wagers was Tua to beat Lennox. Simply because I couldn't stand Lewis.

12 dominant rounds later, I learned gambling and the heart don't mix.

Since then, I've bet on plenty of boxers I thought were assholes...and won!

The big news in Oscar-Manny Land this week is Oscar's rotator cuff, which you may recall he mentioned after his fight with Ricardo Mayorga a couple years ago. The word is that it's still bothering him, and hampering his training significantly. The linked article by Ronnie Nathanielsz even indicates that this may be the secret Freddie Roach was talking about as to why Oscar can't pull the trigger anymore on his left hook, which used to be his best punch. It also implies that the injury caused Oscar to abandon an effective jab when fighting Floyd Mayweather, Jr., in 2007.

We'll just kind of have to wait until fight night to get any real judgment, since I doubt HBO's cameras for 24/7 will be focusing much on Oscar's injuries. That's no way to sell a fight. And even if his arm was falling off, Oscar and his team would downplay the injury as much as possible.

I was on the fence on this one for some time and now my lean is definitely towards Oscar but that's enough info to keep me away from a wager. His left was murderous against Mayo and the jab worked well against floyd until he abandoned it about mid fight. I had that fight just about even. If his left isn't what it used to be then it could very well play a significant role in the outcome. I still like Oscar and -220 is VERY tempting but I'm thinking I'll just be a observor.
