SS we are on same wave length on sluman. I just come from SB and making same wager--also parlayed with mayfair in 3ball--thought 2/1 vs Leany and Lickliter was way out of line.
$25 for $171 unofficially:)

1st rd
Singh -115 over Garcia @ Gamebookers
No lines for ties on 18 holes so assuming ties do not lose!

Thursday plays...

Thursday plays...

My feeling is that you go with who is hot, which means Davis Love, for one, and you also look at who is hitting it straight off the tees. The rough is formidable, and will favor the straight players. This is like the rough at Bethpage a couple of years back.

Forget Duval again, no matter what the price...

18 hole 3 ball match:

1. Love +125 over Singh and Sutton [2 units]

2. Mayfair +175 over Lickliter and Leaney

3. Watson +175 over Brooks and Andrade

4. John Jacobs +500 over Tway and Daly - yeah, I know he is an old guy, but a great driver of the ball...

5. Fred Funk +190 over Harrington and Kendall [keeps it in play, ususally]

18 hole 2 ball match:

6. Love -110 over Els

7. Huston -110 over Mediate [who is -120] - Mediate seems to lose strength over the course of a tournament...

Good luck....IP

Thursday Re-cap:

Horrible day - 1-4 on the 3 ball matches, the worst being John Jacob shooting 87 !!! Love is down by 3 to Els, and Huston is in danger of missing the cut at 77 against Mediate.

FRIDAY:

1. Woods - 161 over Toms and Beem [3 units]

2. Mickelson +120 over Perry and Bjorn [3 units]

3. Els -149 over Leonard and Calcavecchia

4. Scott -175 over Fulke and Morin [2 units]

Going with some heavy favs today... to see if luck may
change... IP

5. [added] Hamilton +250 over Waldorf and Garrido [2 units]

Re-cap - a bit better today. :)

Won/Push on Woods; Mick Lost to both Perry and Bjorn; Els was a winner over Leonard and Calc; Scott beat Fulke and Morin easily with a 69; and Hamilton beat Waldorf and Garrido...

Back Sat am with some more plays...IP

Finally get conditions that live up to hype. This rough is rough.
Scoring board sucks. Can't pull in alphabetical order or see stats on rd. Is there another board somewhere that does?? I can't get much data, the above is basically a tad better player with tee advantage.

I wish someone had pulled the plug on my computer yesterday before I charged off like there was no tomorrow. What was I doing???

I'm with you DTB in being very disappointed in the live scoring and the failure to recap the stats even at day's end, but I don't have any answers. I did make a point of watching most of my VCR tape of the proceedings while watching the follow up on The Golf Channel, but I would have done about the same thing anyway after the first round of a major championship to try and get a handle on the championship as it starts to unfold.

Outright:

Phil Mickelson(+450) for 1* e.w. @ Bet365
I think Lefty is the story now and that he'll have a moment of truth in the spotlight on Sunday. I think that scenario is the best bet on the board, although +450 is not so noteworthy.

Friday 3 Balls for 1* each @ Bet365:

Crane(-110) over Ames/Schall
Funk(+162) over Harrington/Kendall
Mickelson(+120) over Perry/Bjorn

LIA While I have faded Mick you could very easily becorrect. Bout 70 of doglegs are right which really favor he Weir and Singh.
Also noted on Mick he didn't lose match here in ryder cup in 95 or 96. My only reason for fading was his erratic driving but saw where he hit lots of fairways yesterday. Despite the fades I would be elated if he won. I like his style. Wonder if people remember few weeks back when he made comment on Tiges inferior equipment. Think Tig is also coming to that conclusions as he is down to just Nike irons and ball. Niking paying him 100 mill and Titleist pays him zilch and hes playing their woods wedges and putter. They got to be laughing to the bank. If winds pick up and greens firm up this afternoon Tiger might be in jeopardy of missing cut. He putted great yesterday (27 putts) with several par savers over 10 feet.--did spit the bit on 18 however:lol:

Thought seriously bout taking Els vs Tig with his morning tees today but thought $plays was too stingy @ +125

Was hoping to be able to post more-but the Northeast Electrical Storm hit Rochester as well.

Attended all Thurs and about 2 hrs Friday. Saw some decnt golf-but saw more guys struggling. The rough is tough-BUT BUT BUT--I will contribute this--the weather is about to chage. It is sprinkling right now and rian is expected in the morning. The course is dry in the fairways-but a little wet and muddy all ready from the rain last week. Tomorrow will be humid-but Sunday will be perfect about 75.
Was suprised at the top-not all big names.
Top players:
Weir-played better than his score-will be there
Els-did not see-but playing steady
Singh-stalking from behind-but you get the feel it is not his week.
Mick-played VERY well to start. His driving was mint-but then he tried to go over Allens Creek-BAD choice sent him spinning. He STILL can win.

Players that I have seen that I would play in matchups:
Robert Gamez
Luke Donald
N Fasth
Tim Herron
Charles Howell

Players to play against in m\ups:
Pampling
Lonard

Sat Predictions:
Weir will be in last 2 groups on Sunday
Tiger will shoot 68
Mick will shoot better and stick around

Saturdau plays...

Saturdau plays...

Bad Thursday, good Friday...

Tiger has hit the ball as good as anyone, but appeared to me in the final 6 or 7 holes yesterday to be attacking the pins, and ending up in bad spots, making pars difficult. Why he did not play that way at Olympia Fields - which was a whole lot easier than this course - in the first two rounds is my question. If Tiger can play a bit more conservatively today on this very difficult course, I agree with W. Whale that he shoots 68 [or better] today, and gets back in the hunt. One thing is for sure, many players will be backing up, and a round of 66 or 67 will pass a lot of them.

Mick may have had his "bad" round, and could get back on track today, especially if the course softens due to the rain.

Els has a way of sticking around in these events, ala Hale Irwin in his prime - he didn't go out and beat everybody, just hung in there long enough so that all others dropped by the wayside, so to speak....

Could Shaun Micheel be another Ben Curtis story about to unravel? He hits it far, and is putting the lights out - but can he handle the pressure ?? Remains tio be seen...

I am looking for Adam Scott [72-69] to play well again today...

SATURDAY plays:

I am playing mostly ALL players who are at +125 or better...my feeling is that these 18 hole matches are basically even starting the day, all players today having survived the cut at this VERY tough venue. If half [or even less] of the matches win, I am ahead for the day...There may be one or two I have passed on, but at BET365, I am playing: [1 unit unless noted]

1. Romero +125 [77-71] over Lonard [74-74]

2. Appleby [74-73] +150 over Perry [75-72] - this goes against my gut feeling that Perry is going to have a great round...

3. Cabrera +138 [71-76] over Allenby [70-77]

4. Durant +138 [71-76] over Estes [71-76]

5. Woods -162 [74-72] over Furyk [72-74] [2 units]

6. Fasth +125 [76-70] over Mediate [72-74] [2 units]

7. M. Campbell +150 [74-71] over DiMarco [74-71]

8. Parnevik +125 [73-72] over Baird [73-71]

9. Hamilton +150 [74-70] over McCarron [74-70]

10. Olgilvy +188 [71-71] over Singh [69-73]

11. Lickliter +150 [71-72] over Howell [70-72]

12. Pernice +138 [70-71] over C. Campbell [69-72]

13. Coceres +200 [73-68] over Els [71-70]

14. Scott -120 [72-69] over Herron [69-72]

15. Mattiace +120 [74-70] over Haas [70-74]

There are some great values, IMO, on many of these plays, especially on a course where PAR is becomming extremely important...some of the plays are on the player with a better round on Friday [going in the right direction]; - and a couple are plays against players who are older [Haas] and not that physically fit [Mediate and Herron come to mind] playing a very hilly course; and a couple are on veterans who know how to get it around in a major [Lickliter and Parnevik]...

I guess it will all play out over the course of the day :D

Good luck...IP

Thanks for the great reports, wannabe whale.

From where I've been sitting:

Weir has clearly flashed the most flair and magic, while Els is playing with assurance, and Singh is displaying a lack of equanimity. First Baddeley and Janzen, and now Herron, look like they are living on borrowed time. Howell has his heart in the right place but seems stuck in neutral until he bogies the last hole each day. Micheel has been great and then blitzed his way to the lead in front of about a hundred friends and fans, but doesn't look close to ready for 36 holes of prime time. And although I believe Andrade has a Harmon/Oak Hill connection, the best line of the tournament was Andrade's comment, "I know one thing, when they see my name on the leaderboard at 1 under, I don?t think they?re scared.??

Based on the way he was swinging Thursday, Mickelson went out with a very aggressive game plan on Friday, did not play as well or make any putts, and he took his lumps. He's hitting as many quality golf shots as anyone and most needs to get back to not challenging the the right side of the golf course, and for the most part, I expect he will. And it's worth noting that whenever an opportunity of any sort presents itself in U.S. Open style hay, Tom Watson in his day was simply the best, whether it was with a 6-iron or a pitching wedge, and while Tiger is even better, Mickelson may lack those great men's judgment but he is likely the best ever in terms of execution. Mickelson knows he is playing well and I think he is done backing up for a while.

Putting it on the line with these:

Tournament Matchups for 1* each @ Olympic:

Ogilvy(-115) over Janzen
Pernice(-105) over Herron
Mickelson((+105) over Singh
Howell(-120) over Funk
Calcavecchia(-140) over Couples
