I'd say money had a lot to do with it, but most likely not, sadly millions of women around the world stay with men that beat them up. It is sad, but it is true.

That's what Goob said too- I wouldn't care how much someone makes there is no way I would live like that. I saw it as a kid and would never put myself through that for any amount of money.

The sad part in this is she was his fianc?e when it happened and now she is his wife. Why did she marry him? What has he done to her since that's not on video?

imagine how she feels now....she takes her beating like a good soldier and the gravy train still runs off the tracks....

rice sucked last year...really sucked....I wonder if he`d come off a 4.5 ypc/1300 yard season if the nfl and the ravens might`ve tried a little harder to weather the p.r. shitstorm?.....

guess we`ll never know...

My question is will every case of domestic violence now result in the player being released? Or was this just done as a PR move because the video surfaced?

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
PR plays a big role, what with a popular re-posting video and all....

we see that NFL players arrest records are lower than the national average. But that would be expected from an group of rich folks

the domestic violence arrest rates in NFL are still lower than average, but much higher than the other lower-than-average rates. But for a group of rich folks, it is through-the-roof sky high.

the NFL clearly needs to address this problem much more.

Tho one of the reasons, perhaps a big one, it is so high relative to other groups of wealthy folks is that the players are newly rich and thus have not had the time to learn new cultural norms, the value of high-priced advice and legal representation, learn new expectations of behavior from thier crowd - perhaps because they spend time still with the old crowd and it's ways...

anyway, the real question is how will this affect our bets Thursday? I think Ravens will use the game to get their focus off the distractions and will concentrate and play harder, use tough winning play to help the fans and thier own minds. Hard to prepare on a short week with all these distractions, but how much to they really need to prepare for such a well-known foe? I think I will tease Ravens with BYU...

According to ProFootball Talk, the NFL hasn't seen the video until today....

If anyone believes the authorities or NFL didn't see this video then I want what your smoking. The only reason he got cut was because it went public. Which tells you a lot about the league and the Ravens.

In other industries is it common to lose your job after a domestic violence arrest? We were discussing it at my office and we aren't aware of any specific policy addressing this.

You can't compare "other industries" to the NFL. That is crazy on all levels.

depending on your job title there is a code of conduct that is signed that goes along with core company values which are used to manage each business group.

This is an interesting post and we are going to hear it a lot.

No, you wouldn't lose your job if you did the same thing because no-one else would know. Your co-workers would not be aware of anything. But what if they were? You would probably lose your job in many situations because your company would be afraid to keep you on. Imagine the lawsuit if you did this and then went on to hit a woman in the office!!

Also, when you play for a team in a sport you are very much the public face of the team/company. It seems reasonable that they wouldn't want you to work for them anymore if you did something that made you look bad. It's the downside of being a highly visible employee, the upside is lots of money/adoration/girls/status.

Seems reasonable to me that he loses his job.

I agree with all the responses to my post, including yours! I just think it is an interesting thought experiment.

I can assure you when you're dealing with a company's general counsel they know who did what and where at the VP and higher levels.
