Remittances to Mexico and Central America reach $53 BILLION

Sadly, Democrats are perfectly fine with this money leaving our economic cycle.

Legal and illegal migrants sent $53.4 billion in remittances back to Mexico and Central America in 2018, or more than double the cost of building a border barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a World Bank report. Remittances to Mexico reached $33.7 billion in 2018, up 21 percent from roughly $27.8 billion in 2016, the bank reported. Remittances from the three Central Americans countries are being spiked by the growing inflow of asylum-seeking migrants into blue-collar jobs throughout the U.S. economy, via the border?s catch-and-release laws. The outflow to Central America rose to $19.7 billion in 2018, up from $15.8 billion in 2016, according to the bank.

The SUCKING SOUND of all that money leaving our communities?

1:00 mark. He says, just as he bragged during the campaign, that Mexico will pay for the wall.

Don't forget, he's the greatest deal maker of all time. Can't make one with Mexico. Couldn't make one with full control of the Senate and House......but he's the best!

Did you hear him in the press conference today? Nobody knows more about drone technology than him. Nobody. :0002

Your President shut down the government. He's a big fucking baby, and a chronic liar.

I'm clearly no Trump fan, but I disagree. This shutdown is all on the Dems. Border security, in whatever form you think is of most value, is important to a lot of people in this country. Trump (like him or not) is the sitting President of the United States and he's asking for what amounts to pennies to secure the border, the Dems prefer a pissing match for no other reason than they can. I firmly believe if Trump changed his mind today and said fuck it we don't need the wall the Dems rallying cry would become border security.

I'm not in favor of the wall. I think the border can be secured otherwise, but this is what the guy who was voted to be in charge wants and the Dems are what is stopping it and they alone own the shutdown, in this case.

Hey, I wish the next mass shooting in this country would take place on Capitol Hill. I believe it's the only way to get those assholes in line. The government shutdown doesn't affect these assholes, or it never would have happened. Funny how that works. But, Republicans droll on about how Trump ran on a promise to build the wall. I remember how he said Mexico was going to pay for it, too. Seems a lot of folks, including the Donald, forgot about that little tidbit.

Chuck and Ninny? Another couple of self absorbed pricks. I wanted to punch them both at the "big meeting" last month, when they didn't even have the decency to look Trump in the eye! The whole bunch are complete assholes! If your kids acted the way they do, you'd drop them where they stood.

How many DECADES of finger pointing are we going to have in this country? What a shitty way to live! I say give 15 billion for the fucking wall! The US Dollar has been Monopoly money for 50 years now! Who cares?? Then, once it's in place, and nothing changes as far as people entering this country illegally, we can hear how the Democrats are responsible for that, too.

This wall will most likely be as effective as any other security. It will keep out the people who never intended to break in in the first place. The people who really want in, will still find a way. But, some people will manage to sleep better feeling "secure".

Why not just take the money out of the Defense budget? Seriously. Why not? You can't cut taxes and then spend more money, that's common sense. The Republicans are always whining about "tax and spend" I guess they just prefer to "spend". Clowns.

Oh, really? And a wall from the Pacific to the gulf of Mexico will do the trick?

What about boats in the gulf of Mexico, The Atlantic and Pacific coasts, the Canadian border?

How do you think all those Cubans got here? Did they walk in from Mexico?

And all those drunken Irish? And all those WOP Mafia? And all those black people? And all those Hispanics that were in California 200 years ago? And all those Hitler-loving Krauts?

And what about those filthy, thieving, dog eating Redskins in the Dakotas?

And those filthy Jesus-killing Jews like Fred Drumph?

And all those yellow skinned people who are taking top honors at many colleges?

We need a lot more than a fucking wall to make this country safe for us Good Ole 'mericans.

Someone has to be the responsible one.

If the wall is so critical, why don't we just have all the Republicans chip in for it? I'm sure we'll get to $5B in no time!

Of course we could, but this isn't about the money, it never was. I know you don't honestly think we can't find $5B in our budget.

If the wall was $1B would it change the Dems minds? If it was $80 would it change the Dems minds?

No, because this isn't about money, it's about denying Trump his campaign promise plain and simple. If Trump's campaign promise was better health for all Americans the Dems would be telling us how there is no funding for hospitals and they must all be shut down.

Nancy Pelosi says this can be worked out but Trump has to open the gov't back up first. Why? What the fuck does that have to do with border security? Is she really looking for a show of "good faith" from Trump? Please! I always though Hillary was the single most evil being on this planet. Christ, Pelosi gives satan a boner.

You Dems refuse to learn from your mistakes and keep dragging the country down with you. Give Trump his damn wall, who cares? Be smart and negotiate something in the process. Get something that actually makes the country better and those of us who voted against Hillary may find new respect for you and vote differently in 2020. Instead, you drag us down the same old path of trying to get a political win that means absolutely nothing.

Didn't the offer on the table include $1B? Both sides are being assholes over this. The best interest of the country takes a backseat to the party. Always will.

Really....

?I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me,? Trump said. ?I?ll build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I?ll have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.?

Sadly, this is the truth.

I would add, though, that it is easy to offer $10 towards something that cost $100 and shout "we tired!".

No doubt he's a fool for saying Mexico would pay for it, but at this point it doesn't really matter and isn't at the crux of the argument. He's holding people's paycheck hostage to get what he wants and I find it the lowest form of garbage a politician can dish out. I said it when the gov't was shutdown under Obama as well. You don't hold the paychecks of Americans as a bargaining chip, period.

The problem is the Dems just need to be smart enough to negotiate their way through this and they are dug in on the fact this will be Trump's crowning achievement (let that sink in) and no way in hell are they gonna let it happen simply because they don't want a political win for Trump.

If they really think the wall isn't needed then why haven't they offered other solutions to secure the border? As much as I am in favor of legal immigration, I do believe illegal immigration needs stopped and the border needs secured. Don't want a wall? Fine, what's the next option? Instead of presenting one they, well, do nothing.

Both sides can eat a sack of shit for all I care, but do the job you are paid to do.
