With Pug's explanation it looks like 100% are in favor of laws being enforced and the ticket being issued even if the law is stupid and no harm is done.

My guess is the majority of the population would agree with this decision, but what is the purpose of the law? Isn't it to keep people safe? Everyone was safe, driver is very skilled, speed limit is a joke and nobody was hurt.

Still, everyone feels like the ticket should be issued?

Yes 100%

Sounds like a speed trap to me. The officer is there not for safety but to give out tickets. Driver is not going to win this one.

Limit means the end do not go above that posted LIMIT ok they allow 5% error on all car speedometers

My feeling is this..... I would run his credentials and see what his history is. If he has had numerous speeding tickets in the past he gets an automatic ticket. If he has a clean record I would probably issue a written warning with the understanding that if I pull you over again in this neighborhood it will be a ticket.

I've gotten two tickets on my life time and one verbal warning. The first ticket was an asshole cop who pulled me over for doing 9 over the limit. The chief said he was a temp that worked for them and wrote everyone tickets. The second draft one was coming home from WV. I got nailed in Maryland doing 86 in a 65. I was doing 92 but he chatted with me for a few mins asking where I was coming from and where I was headed. I got a ticket out of that one which I well deserved but he bumped it down to 86 so the fine wasn't so bad and I didn't get points. The third time I was doing 40 in a 25 coming back from picking up breakfast and the cop was Trace who is a pretty cool guy. He said to "lighten up on the pedal - my breakfast would still be warm when I got to work. Tell Roger I said Hi!" Trace is now going to probably be our acting chief since the current chief just retired.

OK, I'll give you that. It is 101%. My bad.
Why are you being so argumentative?

There was not a 100% agreement that the ticket should be issued every time from each and every person posting in this thread. Why keep insisting there is, what's the point?

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
I live in a fairly rural area.....

I look at speed limits as a "suggested retail" NOBODY pays full retail. We have a county line road, on the west side of the median, it is 40mph, on the east side it is 50 mph.

I routinely drive almost everywhere in my community 10-20 over without incident. However school started today, gotta be on the lookout.

I really believe in lite of all the nationwide officer shootings, traffic enforcement has been de-emphasized..why risk the unknown for a minor offense?

They are busy with much more facets of a teetering society breaking down. (drugs, murder, more drugs, armed robbery, assaults,
bomb scares, home invasions, rape, ETC)

I also routinely go thru "stupid " red lites. In my community, red lights (especially left turns) have not been updated in decades.

Some lites change and there is virtually no car anywhere in sight...boggles the mind in this day of computers.

I give up with you bud. I wasn't speaking FOR the group, just that I was 100% he needed to get a ticket. And then I was joking by saying I was 101 %. This is a true "lighten up Francis" moment with you.

Okay I misunderstood what you meant. That happened because penguinfan said "so everyone is in agreement that 100% of the time the ticket is deserved" or something very close to that and you said "yes 100%" which is why I naturally understood it the way I did. I would think that it would be a fairly common interpretation of the conversation as written.

I'm not upset, pissed, aggravated, nothing, so no need for me to lighten up. I'm not the one being curt for no reason. I'm not sure why you felt the need to scold me and before you do it again, re-read the posts. Maybe you'll actually see where it seemed as though you were speaking for everyone.

Actually, fuck it, nevermind. It doesn't matter.

No, the question was whether he DESERVED the ticket. In my opinion, there should be no ticket because there was no victim. If he was speeding and he hit something causing damage or hit someone, than he should be punished harshly. However, if there was no victim, then the driver was likely driving responsibly.

I'm sure this.has been addressed but commenting as I go but this to me is a crazy statement

I have got over 20 speeding tickets in my life, almost all.on the highway, tickets Need to be enforced, we have no idea what would Happen in residential areas if everyone was allowed to drive 20mph over ,I'm thinking somebody would get killed and can't wait for a death before making people follow the rules

Agree, just sayin' :toast:, but where would I feel the need to speak for all when others had already expressed differences? I know I graduated from Kentucky, which holds jokes already (bring them on), but I did read other responses and replied. I understand your challenge, I guess. Just that no one else challenged except you, and you were quick to respond. They got it, it seems.
