GOLD KEY

Tampa Bay -3
The Buccaneers won the NFC South under their sixth-year Head Coach Jon Gruden, and they hold a record of 9-7 Straight Up and Against The Spread this season. They rested some injured starters during the final two games of the year, and lost both SU and ATS. The Bucs have played well in this situation at Home in the past, and we go with them today. Positive trends include 8-2 ATS off two SU losses, 21-13 ATS as Home Favorites of a Field Goal or less, and 4-0 ATS at Home when the Total is in this point range.

The Giants gained this Wildcard berth out of the NFC East, and under their fourth-year Head Coach Tom Coughlin are 10-6 SU and ATS on the year. They have been awesome on the Road this season and finished with a close Field Goal loss at Home to the Patriots. The Giants might be a bit more banged up then they show for this event. Virtually all trends are positive for them here this afternoon.

The line overnited at Buccaneers -3. We'll go with the Home Bucs to cover for us here today in a Gold Key Play.

Kent State -16
The Golden Flashes of the Mid-American Conference East Division under their Head Coach Jim Christian enter this one at 10-3 Straight Up and 5-4 Against The Spread this season. They lost Game One at Detroit, and then also in Tournament Play to Xavier and in their last at the Tar Heels, otherwise they have played well. The Flashes are a power in Conference Play at Home, and we'll go with them here this afternoon. Positive trends include 33-16 ATS as Favorites, and 28-12 ATS in Conference Play.

The Bulls enter this Division match up under their long-tenured Head Coach Reggie Witherspoon with a record of 6-6 SU and 5-6 ATS on the year. They are 0-5 SU and 0-4 ATS on the Road, and look to turn that around here as their Conference season begins. Other negative trends for the Bulls include 2-7 ATS as Road Dogs in this point range, 6-10 ATS after allowing 80 or more points, and 14-18 ATS versus winning teams.

The line overnited at Golden Flashes -16. We'll go with the Home Flashes to cover for us here tonight in a Gold Key Play.

FERRIGNO

1-Unit Play. Take #740 Loyola (-5) over Iona (Noon, Sunday, Jan. 6)
I will not be counting this game toward my overall season record because not everyone had time to play it.

1-Unit Play. Take #721 Penn State (+8) over Illinois (2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6)
I'm not sure Illinois can score enough to throw down a 10- or 12-point beating. And they simply haven't been playing well enough to be considered a big favorite. This is somewhat of a letdown spot and Penn State is going to be a sneaky ATS team in the Big 10 this year.

1.5-Unit Play. Take #727 Eastern Michigan (+7.5) over Central Michigan (2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6)
This is a rivalry game and Central Michigan hasn't done anything to make me have the confidence in them to blow out an opponent in an emotional game like this. EMU is 10-4 ATS on the road and 7-2 ATS as a dog. CMU is 2-7 ATS overall and 2-7 ATS as a favorite.

1-Unit Play. Take #723 Marquette (+2.5) over West Virginia (2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6)
Really, really tough to bet against West Virginia at home. But I love the way this Marquette team defends and I really think they are in the same class with Georgetown as far as being an elite national team. WVU's style is perimeter-oriented, so they aren't really equipped to take advantage of Marquette's lack of size on the inside. This one will be a close, tight game, but in the end I'm looking for an outright win by the Golden Eagles.
