Union Berlin came through but it was a crazy first half. Two pushes and Monaco was shaky on defense and couldn't get it done. Should have layed off that game. Not quite the day I wanted but still made a couple bucks.

Saturday

German Super Cup

Dortmund +.5 -150. I usually spend way too much time capping Bayern/Dortmund games as they are one of my favorites. However, this year I am keeping it simple. Dortmund has not lost in 38 straight games at home against German competition. I can get +.5 -150, so that looks good enough for me. Bayern has not looked good in pre-season, but Dortmund has not done much better. Dortmund thinks they can take the league this year, and while I have my doubts about that, I like them tomorrow given that their team is in tact and Neuer is out for Bayern. Their speed will given Bayern's back line some problems.

Championship

Aston Villa Even. Hull is a mess. Lost their coach, much of their team and has not made any significant additions. Villa is very strong at home and I see a victory here. Would not be surprised to see a Terry goal.

Brentford/Sheffield Ov 2.5 -125. I am a fan of Brentford's attacking style and I think we see a big effort from Sheffield as they finally made their way back into the Championship after dominating League One. They are on a 13 match winning streak so they come in with confidence so I am expecting goals.

Yeah, should have laid off the Championship. These teams are simply not ready to start the season. Games were complete rubbish.

At least Dortmund came through. Hope you got it at +.5.

Getting old sucks. I did a nice writeup on the Nurnberg game yesterday and somehow didn't post it right. Second time I have done this. I need an assistant!

Not impressed with English play at all levels right now. I really think these teams are simply not ready to play so I will be cautious at the beginning of the season. Season is too long, many players are not getting enough time off due to all the other commitments which then leads to less training time to get ready for the new season, and new players do not have enough time to work their way into the team. I really think they should change the timing of the transfer window, but that is a discussion for another day.

Making a small play on St. Pauli today -125. Like how they played last week and that stadium will be rocking tonight.

Finally give St. Pauli some props and they can't hold two leads at home. Pitiful.

Taking BTTS -145 in the Super Cup tomorrow. Not sold on Real being completely ready for the season so I see Man U scoring and it has been over a year since Real has not scored in a competitive game. They have not played each other that often, but last 4 Champions League games have seen both teams score. Think this is the best play as I uncertain on a side.

Bury FC +280/Sunderland

Taking the home team here at good odds in my opinion. Sunderland got a lucky draw last week and have to go to Norwich on Sunday. I see them resting some players today. Bury is a League One team that can score. Good value bet.

Every Cup game went over yesterday.

Update totals when home from Vegas

EPL kicks off. Impressed by arsenal in preseason..

Arsenal 10* to win 5*
Arsenal -1 3.6* to win 3*

mahreZ turbulent situation. No drinkwater? I see a rough start for
Foxes. I see a nice 2-0/3-0 type game

First off, want to say GL to you, PK and hope you are enjoying Vegas.

Few thoughts... no alexis for gunners, that hurts...yes, arsenal looked good winning community shield... AND while they have a great record against Leicester, 21 straight unbeaten and 9 or 10 straight wins I believe, take a look at their recent season openers where I think they have won only 1 in 7 matches. My approach is that it's opening week, early results can be volatile and laying off or playing small is the wise way to go. I won't be involved in this match (no Sanchez is a deal-breaker for me), BUT I do think that value can be found with unders in many opening weekend matches as the offenses will have some catching up to do with the defenses, especially with squads that have shaken up their front line (ie. Man U).

Also, taking a hard look at Newcastle in their home opener. The 1/2 goal and the draw price both look appealing as I could easily see Tottenham getting off to a slow start... Meanwhile the Magpies and their supporters in attendance will be amped up for a premier league return after a year of relegation. I also think Newcastle can surprise this season as I really like Rafa Benitez as a manager (despite what anyone thinks of him personally) and this club will continue to show improvement. Welcoming thoughts on that one. GL to all.

DZ, we are on the same page! I really like Newcastle this week (I will admit that they are my favorite English team, it is a long story). I have had it circled for a while. Will have more on it later, but I am also anti-Spurs this year. I just do not see them having the same success this year. I will definitely be on Newcastle, but I am waiting as I think the GL will go to +1 since people love to bet the big Premier League favorites.

I am still working on the Arsenal game. If I have a play, it will be on the total. The Championship last week proved that unders were the play opening week, but I am not sold on it for this game. Should also have a play in France. Will be up in a little while.

Nice-200/Arsenal-205 (1.23 payout)

Little parlay here as I am not so confident in Arsenal as they typically struggle in opening games. I think Nice (1:00 start) will bounce back at home after losing last week.

Stade Rennes +.5 -120/Lyon

Like them at home today. They only lost once at home last year excluding PSG and Monaco. Draw is a real possibility as they drew 14 games LY and only scored 36 goals in 38 games. Big overhaul of their roster as they looked to add some scoring. They drew on the road last week. Small play, but think it is worth a play.

German Cup starts today! Some very interesting games.

All great points fellas. Just thought with no Sanchez they still have enough power up top.. wish I had the over .. arsenal have so much possession but some stupid and careless mistakes been costly .. I'd like to think they win the 2nd half? Anyone have thoughts or just stick with arsenal at this point ?

Nice win on Arsenal Kid.

They did get lucky though. I don't care what the idiot announcer says on NBC (who should be fired by the way), if you use your arm to control the ball it is a handball. Ozil's play was the definition of a handball. There is no question. A horrible, horrible decision by the referee. Inexcusable to me that there is no call. That ref starts the new season just as he did the last. He is atrocious.

I need to do a better job of deciding which games to post. Sorry guys, I will not be posting any more League 1 games. I decided to post them instead of the German Cup games which was a big mistake. I knew Leverkusen and Gladbach would struggle. Sorry, just very frustrated today. I will do a better job going forward.
