Hey Redsfann,

I think I'm showin' my age....I read the other poster's lyrics and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, sounds familiar.

And I'm starting to get seriously concerned about Anders......I mean: Michael Jackson???, Disneyland???, Goofy????

I'm worried about the boy. hehe

Anyway, I have no idea why I think your lyrics might be Mellancamp. If not, I expect a seriously good clue.

Pat--

You've got every right to worry about our Kiwi friend Anders-- I really think the boy has gone off the deep end!

Hummm-- a good clue about the last one, huh? Its not Mellencamp, but a good guess...
He's about the same age as Mellencamp if that helps any.
This may give it away, but here goes...
smile.gif

Last year he hosted a show called West 54th Street on PBS where he had other singer/songwriters on who performed and then he had a short Q and A with them. If you've seen the show, you'll get it-- if not, I'll try and come up with another clue or two..

Redsfann,

Not much for me as far as PBS is concerned.

But if he's about Mellencamp's age.....hmmmm.....

An aging rocker? Just blind guesses......Bog Seger?

Oh, GOD no!! Bob Seger sux bad.....
wink.gif

You may never have heard of him, then. Never been in a band; been around for 20+ years; never sold more than 300,000 copies of any of his albums.....
Can't really think of any other clues to give you, Pat.
Anders' will be around tomarrow to let ya know who it is......

Reds, Reds, Reds......

We need to talk.....

Seger doesn't suck......."Feel like a number", "Hollywood Nights", "Against the Wind"......Reds.....this is good stuff.

Anyway, the wife's got relatives in Center Point....is that close to you?

Talk to you tomorrow.

Pat--

Don't really hate Seger-- just never been into Top-40ish music. When everyone was listening to REO Speedwagon and Bob Seger in the 70s-- I was listening to bands like MC5 and Iggy Pop.
The artist is John Hiatt. Give him a listen sometime

Center Point is up near Cedar Rapids-- about 1.5 hours from here. Cal Eldred-- late of the White Sox, also pitched for the Brewers and my Iowa Hawkeyes-- is from there.
The field of dreams from the movie of the same name is also in that area.
Ever make it out here? Where's home for you?

Redsfann,

I haven't been there, but when my wife took our sons to visit her uncle, the absolute highlight for the boys was to be able to run around the Field of Dreams basepath. Really made an impression on them.

Probably not what you had envisioned, but I am a 52 year old stockbroker, father of 4, living in Juneau, Alaska.

No, I'm not kidding.

And I probably wouldn't recognize Iggy Popp if he can up and bit me on the ass.

Not good, bad or indifferent. Just not my cup o' tea.

Hope you enjoy the concert. BTW, the name wasn't even familiar.

Ian..

"I coulda been someone
Well so could anyone..."

Ah, the dearly departed Miss Kirsty MacColl - very sad..."Fairytale of New York" is one of the greatest among many Pogues songs...

Still surprised that no-one's got either of my last 2, esp the 1st one by possibly the greatest lyricist of all time

And yep, this Kiwi is well off the deep end

Can't believe I hadn't checked this thread out before now. Re: Buffett, 22 shows and holding. First time in 1980!

Try this one. I thought it was appropriate for a gambling forum...

"If I had a gun for every ace I've drawn
I could arm a town the size of Abilene
Don't you push me baby cause I'm moaning low
You know I'm only in it for the gold...

Everybody's bragging and drinking that wine
I can tell the Queen of Diamonds by the way she shine
Come to Daddy on an inside straight
I got no chance of losing this time
No, I got no chance of losing this time..."

First time I've been in this room in weeks. Talkcity had a chatroom that ran like this. One person would "sing" and the rest would guess and chat. Singer was in CAPS to distinguish. I have one for the "older" crowd - "In Flander's Field the poppys grow between the crosses row on row. In Flander's Field the hippies go...to feed their heads...and"

Lotta variety in here team; we're a diverse bunch
cool.gif

Was going to throw in a few new ones but it seems there's a bit of a backlog.

Personally, still surprised that no-one's got these two. 1st is from the writer of some of the greatest lyrics ever, 2nd is from a guy Redsfann quoted a while back in another forum and you have to search right thru the racks to find him

1) Inside the museums
Infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what
Salvation must be like after a while
But even Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles"

2) Michael Jackson in Disneyland
Dont have to share it with nobody else
Lock the gates Goofy, take my hand
And lead me to the world of self"

We've GOT to work on your subtlety. hehehe

And yes, YYZ, it's good to listen to some old Simon & Garfunkel every once in a while.
