Like that one Phar!

You know, thats the only one I have found so far that I see any value in. I am really struggling this week.

Of course I found "value" in 4 matchups last week and lost 3 of them, so perhaps its not a bad thing.:)

Well if you can find a good reason why Tim Petrovic is +100 vs Slocum, I will listen! Thats ridiculous!

Dean Wilson 200-1 1 unit e.w.

Justin Rose 50-1 although he was 66-1 1 unit e.w.

Also thought about Lehman, Gore at 200 on betfair, Moore, and Will Mackenzie at 1000 on betfair.

How many places are you putting half the wager on? Is it top 3, top 5?

Are you putting 1 unit "to win" and 1 unit "To Place or splitting that one unit between "To Win" and "To Place?

I think this earlier post is fairly accurate regarding most e.w. wagers (although each capper may deviate somewhat in certain circumstances):

Apollo Kid said:
I hope Stanley doesn't mind, but I copied and pasted this from his Web site . . . An each-way bet is a bet that combines (to equal stakes) a win-only (futures) bet with a place-only bet. The place-only odds are typically 1/4 the win-only odds . . . Obviously it is better to have more places and a bigger fraction for the place-only odds, though I will always prefer 5 places at 1/5 odds to 4 places at 1/4 odds at the same full outright price . . . Most books offer the each-way bet as a option, while it is possible to make your own each-way bet at books like Five Dimes, Centrebet and Olympic who offer the win-only and place-only odds separately but not as a bundled each-way option. Simply place half your stake on the player to win outright and the other half of your stake on the player to be placed.

OUTRIGHTS:

Justin Rose(60/1) e.w. @ 5dimes
Jerry Kelly(80/1) e.w. @ 5dimes
Charles Howell(33/1) e.w. @ 5dimes
Peter Lonard(80/1) e.w. @ Bet365
Ryan Moore(80/1) e.w. @ 5dimes
Dean Wilson(200/1) e.w. @ 5dimes

- - Clear back to emerging from the crucible of 21 straight missed cuts, Justin Rose has known where he is going and been figuring it out in ways that will deliver on his can't miss potential, and I'll continue to tag along http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,378-1970509,00.html . . . My plays on Jerry Kelly are exceedingly rare, but I love the fact he missed the cut here to start his frustrating campaign through last year . . . I don't know how he'll score, but I'd be very disappointed to hear and see information that CHIII is not as prepared as he knows how in order to quickly make the only statement that really matters . . . Conventional wisdom says tread lightly with players that were blown off the planet last week, but the streaky Lonard surprised me last week with signs of life and a creditable short game off his recent knee scope, and this week's venue has to be more to his liking in every respect . . . Ryan Moore and Dean Wilson get a final nod - instead of Tom Lehman - as players I would kick myself over if sparks fly and I left them off my card just because it was already full up.

MATCHUPS:

Bryant(-105) over Perry (Tournament) @ 5dimes
Lonard(+138) over Roberts/Beem (R1) @ Bet365
Howell(+105) over Scott (Tournament) @ 5dimes

That will be fine--in fact I plan on coming up your way for golf in summer--we can make the wager for green fees and keep it real friendly.--I will also give you the other 3 props for free--if she does any of the 4 you win--however I am expecting a stroke or 2 in return when we tee em up :)

1st round at Bestline:

Bryant +110 over Scott

just a little book info here guys. I have some money left over from football at Bestline otherwise may have not even known this. So far they have had matchups day to day. Even though it is a 30 cent line their day to day matchups are highly tilted toward the bigger names, enough that you can't find as good as price anywhere on the dogs. (as far as I know) Might be worth checking out if you like to play day to day.

I am always bitching about incompetant sports writers that are clueless to course conditions pre tourney--here is with a doubt the most accurate I have yet to find--VERY knowledgable fellow and on sight--been folling his reports since late last year and he has been right on.

SONY OPEN INSIDE TRACK
By Harry Emanuel

Click here for Dave Tindall betting preview

The Sony Open held at the Waialae Country Club Golf Course in Honolulu is the first full field tournament of the 2006 PGA Tour Season. This tournament will provide the players with a good test of golf.

The Par 70 course plays 7060 yards and is set up in a very similar way to previous years. It is a tight track which demands accuracy off the tee. Accuracy will be very important because as Bart Bryant pointed out: "The rough is decent this week."

When asked to elaborate he explained: "It is fairly penal which means players will be punished for going in the rough. You can get some really tough lies and will be unable to shoot for the green."

Jim Furyk called the rough "gnarly" and only by keeping the ball on the fairway this week will players have a decent chance of hitting the small greens.

The greens seem to be a little slower and grainier this week according to Furyk, but they are still some of the best Bermuda greens these players will encounter.

The course is not complicated until the wind blows. The last few years the breeze has been a Kona wind out of the south west but this year the trade winds are back. This means that the wind will be blowing across most holes from the north east. This will be a change for the younger players and Justin Rose said that this week he felt "he was learning to play the course all over again".

As for a winning score Furyk summed it up pretty well, saying: "If it blows hard then double digits will be a good score but if not expect to see a lot of 66s." It is forecast to blow hard this week, particularly on Friday and Saturday.

Bart Bryant feels the shorter hitters like him have a real chance compared to last week where he reckoned they could not compete effectively against the longer hitters. Last week he hit only one par five in two shots but said everyone can reach them this week, negating the advantages for long hitters. To prove the point he made an eagle on the ninth in the pro-am on Wednesday.

Below are the holes averages for the last two years:

Hole Yards Par Sc Av Rank

1 488 4 4.39 1
2 426 4 4.08 8
3 423 4 4.11 6
4 203 3 3.04 9
5 466 4 4.19 4
6 459 4 4.22 3
7 167 3 2.91 14
8 459 4 4.09 7
9 510 5 4.33 18
3,601 35 35.35
10 353 4 3.78 16
11 196 3 3.01 12
12 446 4 4.00 13
13 478 4 4.30 2
14 433 4 4.03 11
15 396 4 3.90 15
16 365 4 4.12 5
17 189 3 3.05 10
18 551 5 4.61 17
3,459 35 34.79
70 7,060 70.13

It is a tough start here. The first was the seventh most competitive (out of 1008) on the 2005 PGA Tour, which is the third consecutive year it has been in the top 50 most difficult holes.

Last year there were only 20 birdies and 190 bogeys or worse. The second and third have a large water hazard running down one side of the fairway.

In contrast the ninth is rated the easiest hole on the course, yielding 26 eagles, 272 birdies and only 21 bogeys or worse.

The back nine plays slightly easier but beware the 13th which was 41st most difficult hole on tour last year.

Michelle Wie is grabbing the headlines again as she tries to be the first women to make a cut on the men's tour since Babe Zaharias in 1945.

She played a practice round with Justin Rose and their coach David Leadbetter on Tuesday.

I caught up with them for the back nine.

Will she make the cut this week?

On the positive side she's playing on her home course, she has an excellent low ball flight for windy conditions, she's improved her putting and scrambling since last year and has also been on a fitness regime and improved her strength. She has been practicing really hard and is mentally prepared.

Remember this is nothing new to her as this will be her eighth attempt to make the cut in a men's tournament. The windy conditions should help as she knows how to play this course in the wind better than anyone and it will make the cut higher.

She will definitely make the cut one day but as for this week you must remember that despite all the hype she is still a 16-year-old school girl who is not tournament fit. Her good shots are as good if not better than most male pros but her bad shots are considerably worse and she will just fall short again unless she can reduce her mistakes.

Quotes

Adam Scott: "I had three weeks off golf. I like the golf course and enjoy playing in the wind. So I feel this is a course where you've got to shape your shots a little bit and keep everything in control."

Ryan Moore: "It's a nice straightforward golf course and you throw that wind out there and it makes it really interesting. You don't get many holes down wind from what I notice."

Vijay Singh: "I love the driver I'm hitting. It's going the way I want it to go and it's tested good, so I'm really happy with it."

Jerry Kelly: "I've been working hard over the winter and been out here for two weeks getting ready. Missing the cut last year was an anomaly and I'm really looking forward to this week. I'm 66/1? They must be crazy."

Vaughan Taylor: "The last few years I sprayed the ball all over but this year I feel like I'm a better driver."
