lets face it...fedor`s best days are behind him...he was 31-1 going into this fight....

and lets be honest...gsp is 29 and already has 2 losses...and only 20 wins....

let's also be honest........the depth in MMA now is way different then it was in 2006.

Comparing GSP and Anderson to Fedor is downright funny.

Fedor is good.....but if he was in UFC the last two years we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Fedor lived on his past accomplishments from the dark ages. If you fight crap for years and years and years you lose all my respect. And when you combine that with the depth of MMA now to then the arguement is mute.

Fedor ducked top competition for the longest time, you just can't argue that.

We will also see "how great he is"....when he fights Antonio Silva.

In the UFC when you are at the top you fight tough guys.....over and over again. Fedor fought a ton of bums...a ton.

It wasn't that long ago he was fighting Lindland and Hong Man Choi. If he was in UFC he'd be fighting 3 top guys a year over and over again for two years. Think about that.

Not only is the depth much better now that in 2005 but MMA has evolved a significant amount in that time frame.
I would be really suprised if we ever see Fedor compete in MMA again. I don't think he has been really interested in competing in a very long time.

Well I do agree it is doubtful Fedor would have rolled through competition in the UFC the last few years like he did outside of it, but he still would have been the guy to beat without question.

And I do find it comical to compare Fedor to GSP to Silva. I find it comical to compare him to guys he can't fight as well. MMA is to unpredictable to say this good fighter would beat that good fighter without seeing it happen.
If Fedor fought Werdum tomorrow the odds would probably still be Fedor -400 or so and unless he got caught in another sub hold would finish Werdum.

Fedor did screw up one thing tonight. He should have kept this thing on the feet instead of taking it to the mat.

"the bunker"
bullshit...fedor is fighting guys much bigger than himself....gsp has never...and will never venture upwards of 170 unless it`s a "safe" fight....

fedor`s resume dwarfs gsp`s....gsp beat hughes when he was 33....lost to him when he was closer to his prime....

33....and he beat a 155 pounder in penn...

got ktfo by a midget...

no comparison in their resumes..unless gsp steps up ...and does it in a hurry...

GW....

I think you are now insane.

You could not be more wrong.

Fedor fought a ton of guys bigger then him, who gives a fuck, most of em sucked.

GSP and Anderson Silva are so far and above Fedor it is laughable.

As I said if Fedor was in UFC last two years you wouldn't have typed what you did above.

gsp is not anderson silva....silva`s moving up...gsp is not...

silva would utterly embarrass gsp....

i`m trying to picture matt serra knocking out silva...

You have lost me GW....I don't get why you care about people moving up in weight....who cares?

Bobb Sapp would beat Miguel Torres.....:wtf:

Fedor has fought shit competition, he's not in the top 35 in "quality of competition" according to "Fight Metric" (since 2007). He has fought shit, the stats back it up.

GSP is #4

And I'll say it again....if Fedor was in UFC 2.5 years ago, you would have a totally different tune.

GSP and Anderson are so far above Fedor it is a joke.

For fucks sake do you think Fedor would be top 4 in the UFC HW division? I doubt it.

not to mention finishing %...in 20 wins, gsp has gone to decision 7 times....

in 31 wins, fedor has gone to decision 7 times...

let`s see how gsp finishes up his career...if he`s still fighting at a high level at 34...

after all,as you guys said, better athletes,;) training and nutrition...mma has evolved...

gsp should be champ for another 10 years...

I think the Fedor of today would still be in the top 5 of the UFC HW easy.

As for 2.5 years ago Fedor in the UFC would have been #1 by far. 2.5 years ago he was at a much higher level than today and the HW class in the UFC 2.5 years was PURE SHIT.
Tim Sylvia was still good in the UFC 2.5 years ago.

Comparing GSP and Anderson to Fedor is downright funny.
So what you are saying is, the competition from before 2006 was pretty much dogshit and yet Anderson managed to lose to the phenom Daiju Takase by sub with the incredible record of 4 wins in 12 fights at the time!!!

GSP was tapping out to Hughes BEFORE the arm-bar was fully applied.

Comparing GSP and Anderson to Fedor IS downright funny as Fedor didn't lose to the pre 2006 Scrubs that your talking about.

Give it up for Fuck sake. ANYONE can lose on any given night, just ask GSP.

I said ages ago on the Rodgers/Fedor thread that Fedor would lose soon as he looks unmotivated and what I would be dreading was the Fedor bashers coming out of the woodwork to talk about how he was alway's shite and over-rated, disregarding everything he accomplished.
I should have made a bet on that prediction as I would be cleaning up now.

The depth in MMA now to back then is "night and day".

Come on weepaul you know better.

Also....I have never seen anybody so pissed at winning a bet:mj07:

Umm....you won:00hour

Also I love how everyone thinks I think Fedor sucks, he doesn't. I just think he is so massively over-rated when people say he is "the best ever". that shit is laughable. He has fought more cans then any other top fighter.

If you argue that point then I give up. Yes when you fight as much shit as Fedor has it doesn't mean you suck. But it does mean you have to step up and fight the best to be the best.

Fedor just lost to Werdum for fucks sake. Yes, everybody loses and that's fine. But if Fedor fought the competition Penn, GSP, Anderson, Shogun, etc fought Fedor would have a hell of lot more losses then 1 I can tell ya that.

Fedor lack of competition hurts em, just accept that and move on.

Oh and did I mention that weepaul won his bet.

Dan "should be outlawed" Hardy. HAHAHA Top notch competition there GSP

Alves. Is that the same guy who was choked out by tiny Spencer Fisher?? Come on GSP, fight some real competition.

BJ Penn. Come on GSP, pick on someone your own size for Fuck sake.

Fitch. Is this the same guy who quit against the 5 and 3 Joslin. Come on George, you can do better than to fight known quitters!!!

Serra. Did you just tap out to strikes George??? The GOAT don't do shit like that George

Hughes. Why are you picking on old washed up legends George.

Koscheck. Are you REALLY rematching a guy you already trounced??? Stop avoiding Nick Diaz and Anderson.
Why don't you rematch Thomas Denny while your at it. He gave you a better fight than Kos!!!

Kick, I love GSP the same as I love Fedor but to spin things to say Fedor is a fraud is bullshit.

He wanted to fight the reigning UFC champ Randy but the baldy saviour of MMA had to go to court to make sure that didn't happen.

Just because he doesn't eat Dana's shit does not make him a fraud. He fights who is available just like GSP.

I guess we can all spin things to make people look bad or their competition dogshit.

Agreed....."Fraud" is a bit harsh....I take that back.

Fedor is not a "fraud"

But I am sure you will agree that out of the "best of all time" Fedor has by far fought the worst competition.

A thread on the sherdog forums about Kim Winslow, the worst referee in MMA

one guy's take on the Cyborg fight:

"that was beyond mma, that was close to murder "

another says:

"Yeah, that bean pole bitch has got to go. "
:142smilie :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

still another and I agree with this:

"Horrible referee and much more emotional and less controlled than other refs. There is nothing wrong with female refs but they need to know what they are doing. "

another comment:

"I don't think praying for her life qualifies as "intelligently defending herself"... "

When the fighter is turtled up and being beaten to fuck then it's time to stop the fight.

Like me they gave props to her for NOT STOPPING THE FIGHT

I think she did a fine job (except for taking the point which did not matter).
