I never said she was a great ref......but in that fight I had no problem with her not stopping the fight.

Poor Cuddles. She took an incredible beating and you know she was just trying not to tap out to strikes....but that ref just kept letting it go and go. Brutal.

I think he was going in for the kill and that Werdum was hurt worse than he was. As much as that may seem dumb in hindsight, it is also what make him so beloved. He doesn't wait around, he goes for the finish. I would not want to be his next opponent.

..anybody that sees this as a sport and not a bloodletting realizes that the referee put that girl in imminent danger...

it`s the ref`s MAIN job to protect the fighters...and this "ref" apparently wasn`t aware of that fact...

not to mention finney`s corner...

i`m telling you...everyone that appreciates and follows mma can thank their lucky stars that that girl wasn`t gravely injured....

the sport is one big mistake away from taking a serious hit....and we`re all lucky that wasn`t it...

i`m seeing cyborg post-fight interviews..but nothing on finney...if anybody can find a post-fight interview or picture(although i seriously doubt we`ll be seeing any...strikeforce knows this was bad business) of finney,please post it...

I find it strange that I've always thought of Fedor as one of if not the smartest fighter in the ring but last night was about as stupid as it gets. I was on the phone with a good friend that is a purple belt in bjj and he said he couldn't believe it either. Fedor got out of the initial sub attempt and there could have been a chance he could have gotten side control but he didn't. He went right back into half guard and really didn't defend the sub at all. I'm not saying he threw the fight but it sure did look strange. He knew that was his only chance to lose and more than likely the only chance was early in the fight so why stick his head back in after he got it out the first time. Either Fedor just doesn't care as much anymore, he's gotten too bored or somebody made some big money on that fight.

I find it funny that everybody forgets that the corner can stop the fight.

Finney got back up serveral times and actually threw punches, she wasn't done.

The ref did a good job in not stopping the fight. The problem was with the commission is allowing the fight to happen.

I don't think she should stopped the fight and the proof was when Finney got back up. She was fighting her ass off and was still covering up when on the ground.
Gus Johnson was crying for a stoppage and Shamrock agreed but I never saw the final blow that required a stoppage.

Certainly Fedor needs and deserves a rematch but it should come after Werdum/Overeem.

Maybe Fedor gets the winner of that match since Strikeforce is not a deep league and Fedor is still their meal ticket.

Strikeforce wants a good show then how about Werdum/Overeem and Fedor/Barnett on the same card. Winners fight. :scared

Perhaps it came off wrong, Werdum doesn't suck, just making the point to the Fedor nuthuggers that Fedor is not close to "the best". Fedor would have a hard time if he was in the UFC. I mean he did just lose to a guy cut from the UFC. This isn't 2006 and Fedor fans seem to think it is.

Fedor seems like a good guy, but he wants nothing to do with Cain, Mir, Brock, Dos Santos or Carwin. He just doesn't.

Apparently JDS, Cain, Cariwn and Brock didn't want to fight Fedor or they would have contacted M-1 publicly instead of the UFC. They were ducking him by joining and organization that at the time Nog as a champ who Fedor had already soundly beaten 2 times. They joined a league not to prove themselves and beat the best but to beat who? Nog? You don't get recognized for being the best in the world for joining an org that didn't have the best in the world.

The simple fact about Fedor is when he was in his prime the best HW's were in his organization(Pride) and he beat them all and some of the better ones multiply times.

The UFC HW class has only just now in the last year and a half become top notch.
Lesnar,dos Santos,and Carwin entered UFC in '08.

Before them the UFC HW top guys were Sylvia,Arlovski,Herring, and Nog.
We all know what Fedor did to them.

Fedor would have dominated UFC competion up until 1 year ago and then it would have been very interesting.

sometimes fighters are too brave or too proud and have to be saved from themselves....i`ve seen it in boxing...and mma...

sometimes,they`re lucky enough to be subbed in a way that they lose consciousness...or k.o.`ed in an obvious fashion...

..but sometimes,they end up in the fetal position,concussed or just discombobulated and don`t have the wherewithal to act on their own behalf...that or they just refuse to quit even though it puts them in a dangerous situation...

thats why the ref(or a corner person) is there to act in their best interests....

in a one-sided mismatch like this was,the punishment that girl took was way excessive...



why you guys(or some yo-yo on a canadian radio show) don`t get that,i haven`t a clue....

i don`t want to get mad....i just don`t want to see a helpless fighter get maimed because of some ref`s ineptitude or because some fans watch the sport,not out of appreciation of the skill and competition,but out of some misguided,juvenile bloodlust....


the only reason...the ONLY reason even more isn`t being said about the horrible ,fighter endangering performance put forth by this so-called ref,is because she`s the "first female mma/first female ufc" referee....

i really believe if she were a man,her ass would be sanctioned in some manner...

if this were a competitive fight that turned brutal on a dime,maybe...MAYBE....i could see you making an argument...

Ummm... If you want to say it was over because we all knew Cyborg was better then yes it was over, but Finney rocked Cyborg to start the 2nd and that probably would have dropped many women in the sport.
Finney took a beating but she showed WAY to many signs of still being game and defending herself.
The ref was on top of the action and warned her to fight back and defende herself. Often Finney tried to adapt when told to do so.
I hate stoppages because of one sided beatings.
She can tap,corner can stop it, or if fighter is flat out not trying ref can say enough. None of those were present in the 1st round.

I think that is in large part due to the fact nobody gives a damn about woman mma. Very little coverage before a fight and never any after one.
