Sure I got a payroll question, Mjs is great ( i do have a cpa for my corp and will be directing his way, but it's nice to get consistent answers)

Hired a woman for 1 day. Today. Found out during the course of the day she didn't have skills she said she did. Working interview ended today.

I obviously will be paying her for her time today.

Have not set up payroll yet, have not gotten w2 from her.

Can I just cut her a check and file a 1099?

Unless you want a 6 page response, you would need to provide more details around the stock options as well as other tax factors. But sorry, you didn't ask me. I'll step aside and consider answering saint's question for free.

Just cut her a check and you're done. She won't make enough to trigger a 1099. Maybe give Keiana, Nikia or Aiesha a call back?

He's going to be living off of restricted stock this year. What else do you need to know?

:nono: - depends on how he 'hired' her. If there was an offer letter or whatever, even if she is at will he needs to get her on payroll and do the payroll taxes. contractors vs. employees is a huge issue for the IRS recently.

good point on the other applicants though.
