Between Green Bay and Iowa City
I noted in a post two weeks ago that I would be completely out of my favorable capping routines for a while, and nothing's changed yet as this week is about to get under way.

Outrights:

Niclas Fasth(40/1) e.w.
Padraig Harrington(25/1) e.w.
Darren Clarke(100/1) e.w.
- - In the last 4 majors I've been way off the mark on the 2 occasions when I've EXPECTED a core of Europeans to step up for highly commendable championship runs.

- - Can there be anything sadder about TheGolfChannel's outstanding coverage of the major championships than watching Ken Schofield, Executive Director of the European Tour, after having been interviewed while standing on eggshells with fingers and toes crossed on Saturday nights as THE ever hopeful face of a European breakthrough moment, and then his having to come back on Sunday night amidst the ashes time after time after time? That poor bloke deserves better, and this is a really fine chance for some overdue joy before the Carnoustie anniversary . . .
I'm back at it again . . . For streaky in both directions, I doubt if anyone in the last 5 seasons matches Fasth. In the form of his life, and I would be shocked if this is the week that a clunker marks his high water point on the season; I definitely wanted and expected him to take last week off in order to form a crisp and confident assault on this weeks storied prize . . .. Harrington's schedule and preparation so frequently seem wildy off the mark for peaking at the majors he speaks so articulately about, but I think he's hit much the right notes coming into this one for getting untracked and then taking it deep . . .

Justin Leonard(250/1) e.w.

Stuart Appleby(100/1) e.w.

Tiger Woods(+300) Win Only
- - Insurance against.

Brian Davis(225/1) e.w.
Richard Sterne(80/1) e.w.
- - Richard Sterne ???
Brian Davis ???
Carl Pettersson ???
Mike Weir ???
Raphael Jacquelin ???
Ryan Moore ???

Darren Clarke(66/1) e.w. for 1st Round Leader
Carl Pettersson(100/1) e.w. for 1st Round Leader
Gregory Havret(125/1) e.w. for 1st Round Leader

Matchups:

Fasth(-125) over Stenson (Tournament)
Ogilvy(-155) over Johnson (Tournament)

Ridle who do you like as top amateur? Obviously Ramsey has a lot of advantages and i see decent value at 2.5/1

I don't like that market at all, both Ramsay and McIlroy aren't in the finest shape and have no good major tour results yet - could well be that someone like Waring or Matthews wins it while still missing the cut.

Think els is the man to beat this week also. Having a small dabble at 12/1.

KJ Choi to bt Appleby @ 1.90
Donald to bt Garcia @ 1.85
O'Hern to finish top 3 aussies @ 2.80.

Looking forward to seeing what the weather does throughout the tournament. The last 4 holes have to be the hardest finishing stretch I've ever played. I guess the 50km/hr winds didn't help too much!

Just wanted to give my opinion on the tourney since I will be on the road tonight and tomorrow.. (not sure if i will be able to add plays). I have been following the scoreboard pretty close the first 2 days, but today was the first day i actually got to watch the coverage. The weather is supposed to be brutal tom. So I would advise to fade people who hit high balls, and struggle in the wind. Adam Scott was 4 over through 11.. and now is +1 on the tourney.. So his last 20 holes have been more than solid. I also really like the way Weir is playing. Another player not to sleep on is Fasth. Good Luck fellas, and lets hope Monty can make the cut somehow. :0corn

Dont underestimate this "Sergio / Seve retiring" angle. I like looking at stories in sports occasionally, and this just seems like its going to happen. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, b/c we can see him crying on his moms shoulder in 1999 about 50 times on Sunday.

That 10 footer he sank on 18 for par was HUGE for Sergio. His game outside the dance floor is phenomenal. As Geoff Ogilvy said eariler this year - If Sergio learns to put he could win 10 tournaments this year."
